I was on namecheap and I can't move my domain name for 60 days is this the norm?????
If you've just purchased the domain and you plan on building a website here at Wealthy Affiliate, you do not want to move the domain.
You need to change the nameserver.

Good thinking welshy I forgot about that link. When you are changing names servers aren't you moving that domain from one server to another?
When I purchased my domain name at GoDaddy I went into domain management and pointed the domain name to WA. It took about 1/2 hr to work. I know these companies have the right to hold the domain, but when I have pointed domain names to different server in the past it shouldn't take that long. Where are you moving it too?
When you register with a domain registration service, they have the right to hold the domain name for a period of time. I know GoDaddy does this as well. It has to do with verifying ownership of domain and making sure it is registered across the systems. It probably said something in the fine print when you registered with them.

it looks like they require they hold the domain for 60 days before they release :(
I guess by moving your domain you are meaning moving it from Namecheap to another registrar.
The domain transfer usually takes around 2-3 months to be transferred from your domain registrar to your hosting provider.

I bought my domain name from name cheap but I missed where i was suppose to send it to my website how can I go back and do this step or do I have to buy another name PLEASE HEL
I'm having a issue with trying to move my website to my new domain I brought today. When, I go into WA to move it. It ask me if I own that domain. But, like Dotlene it didn't take me through the same thing that is in the video. I checked the ns1.mywahosting.com and my
ns2.mywahosting.com and they where right. So, I don't knew waht to do now. Please someone help me.
Im having an issue with it also, but my issue is i don't see where u put that info at. i watched the video clicked on the site i was given and everything looks different then it did in the video. most likely they undated it so it looks different but i don't see any where that says name server settings. i haven't hit the pay now button yet trying to find where to put the ns1.mywahosting.com and ns2.mywahosting.com.
Here is the information you need to change the DNS server
Primary: ns1.mywahosting.com
Secondary: ns2.mywahosting.com
You will need to log back into Namecheap with your username and password. Once you login, hover the curser over your user name. You will see Manage Domain. Click on that. Then you click on your domain name which takes you to another screen. Then you will see transfer domain name. Copy the Primary and Secondary server info in the boxes provided. It will take a few hours for you to be able to access your website. Debbie

I don't have to change the name I just need to be able to transfer to my web account thanks again for your help
Log back in to Namecheap. Find your domain name you need to change. Then click on the "Domain Name Server Setup" on the left-hand side, that will take to where you can enter the DNS #s for WA. Let me know if you have any other questions.

went to namecheap for domain name I enter my name that matched my website it came up with make an offer then stated that the minimum price $199 if I change the name do I have to
You picked a domain name someone else owns and they want some ka-ching. I'd consider it unavailable and come up with another domain name that is similar or has one of your niche keywords.
It sounds like the name you picked is one that they consider a premium domain name. Keep trying names that are similar to your website. You can keep your website named the same and have a different domain name. For instance, I have a domain name that is carpetcleaning-localareaname.com. But the name of the website is the name of the local business. Usually it is best to have the name of your website the same as the domain name but not always. In my case it directs search traffic in my local area to the site and they find my client's name and phone number right in front of them. It still ranks well too even with Google changes. By the way, don't pick a domain name with a dash in it. You can't use it on this hosting.
Do you already own the domain name? If not, it is telling you someone else owns it and it would cost $199 minimum to purchase it. If you already own it, then you need to go to the site you purchased it from to set it up to use with WA.
