well, that changed the mood :):) Keep up the good works, unigirl! cheers Marc!

Well there is a wonderful saying that the darkest hour is immediately before dawn ...

Hi Cindy,
When I first started here, I gave 'Site Comments' a whirl. I had a few disapproved and it all honesty it turned out I 'didn't get it.' As per the SAC, leaving site comments was part of the challenge, so I dived back in with an 'open' mind. This time round I had more success. One way I have come to think of it, is that it is something provided here at WA to benefit us. It is, in essence, a tool to be used to gain comments on our sites, that in turn should benefit us. You almost have to take on a different persona. We are adding value to someone's site in a way that they might not get organically. When it 'clicked' for me I wrote a post about it. Hopefully, you may find it interesting.

Thank you, will take a look.

I agree with Marc. The best thing is to move on. Sometimes we have to accept things the way they are.
I have given up on site comments as in reality it takes too much time to write a good comment and when you get disapproved it is just a waste of time. I myself never disapproved a comment as I believe it is not fair.

@ spurway spot on. I don't have enough time to worry about some guy/gal thinking my post is perfect enough or not so I can get a credit on site comments or not.

Marc,
Agree, 100% Life is to short and time is precious.
Cheers Sylvia

I've only disapproved of a few comments. The reason being either it was clear the person did not even know what the post was about or the grammar and wording was so difficult to follow that editing wasn't even possible.

Being able to edit comments for grammar and spelling etc makes a huge difference for me - there is rarely a need to ever disapprove when they can be edited to correct.

On the flip side though, I do get bothered when people edit comments I make to say something completely different and off point from the comment I left. My name is then forever published on their site possibly saying something I do not agree with.

No system is perfect I suppose. There will always be a downside to someone else's upside.

Hi Shannon

I understand what you are saying,I can agree partly to it.
For myself, I do not understand why a comment has to be perfect.

We are all human and this is an International Community with many of us speak 2 or more languages.
When you get an organic comment you get what the person see's and understand in your post.
Not always is it the fault of the commenter the blog sometimes does not show what it is about.
No system is perfect and this is good so.
Having comments on your site that are not perfect or some grammar mistakes in the blog makes you human and the audience will sync with you.

Here’s a reminder:

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Have a beautiful day
Sylvia

Ha ha, sometimes I like what Cambridge University puts out.

Other times, not.

While it may be true that the mind comprehends the words as a whole, I can virtually guarantee that nobody wants to read a series of misspelled words like that:

a) it takes longer to read -- regardless of the claim that there are no problems with comprehension, there are problems with efficiency;

b) if it were really true, nobody would bother making sure spelling was correct and every English publication in the world would simply put out a mishmash like this and

c) since each of us could change the inside of the words as we liked, eventually the language would degrade into something incomprehensible, because consistency is also an element of language, and pronunciation is reliant on that, too.

So regardless of how much these researchers got paid to carry out this somewhat irrelevant bit of fluff, letter order matters for speaking and listening to English and ergo, the writing of it.

Finally, if someone tries to pull this off as a teacher of English as a Second Language with their students, they'll be looking for a new career very soon ;)

A comment is a person opinion basically.
So unless they are vulgar or just down right
rude and childish, I say, "let them stay" to.

I am band from comments now anyways so
someone took care of it for me....lol

But colud you raed erver wrod wthiuot the porepr selpllnig if you
had nveer been tuhgat how to pporrley raed the wrod in the fsrit
pcale?

That is a good one. I guess if we would not have learned how to read we would not.
Cheers Sylvia

Hi Cindy
Sorry to hear that you are banned.
See it from a positive sight, now you have time to work more on your site.
When you need help let me know.
Cheers
Sylvia

Thanks Sylvia, there is always a shiny
side to things as long as we are willing
to take the time to find it.

Happy Prosperous Journeys,
Cindy

Hi Sylvia,

I don't know how I missed your reply but I'm really glad I finally found it. You make an excellent point and I will be mindful of this.

I have seen that research from Cambridge before lol - so true too lol. It's not so much tiny errors that I tend to correct. It's more when a particular passage is so broken, due more than likely to language barrier, that a sentence doesn't make sense if you understand what I mean.

I figure the person took the time to create it and therefore should get the credit for it and should not have the comment discarded.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. It changes my perspective some :)

Blessings to you,
Shannon

I'm sorry you had that experience. If I get to a site I decide I can't or don't want to comment on, I just close the window. You don't get penalized for it that way. ;)

I have done the same when I come across an article I do not wish to leave a comment on for whatever reason. Many times simply leaving the comments area to do something else for just a minute will bring up a new article to comment on if I return.

I concurs with Cindy. I have had the same experience.
I read a review about a week ago that questioned a manufacturer's product and suggest that all the comments were good and it could be argued that they deleted the bad comments....but that's exactly what is happening here at WA based on my short experience. There is no one to even suggest anything to.
Quiet frankly one of my disapproval was from a blogger whose review was totally uninterested but you tried to follow the rules. Not to mention it was full of grammatical errors and misspellings yet that person disapprove on the grounds that I did not comment on the article properly and there were errors. Makes we wonder.

I learned that disapproval and disappointments contribute to ones success but it will depend on how you internalize whatever is thrown at you
.
Like everyone here at WA, I happen to know my "WHY" so no matter how many disapproval they throw at me I am not going to let it get the better of me.

If a door is not opened for me, I am going to create one.

Don't spend so much time competing on site comments or trying to understand site comments. Not everything at WA is perfect or useful. Forget it and move on. :)

Thank you, but I needed to vent and now I move on...lol

I do understand. But venting just stirs the waters for a temporary period of time after activating the ego. The problem with venting publicly is that it activates other people's egos in a similar way. True, you'll garner emotional support. Unfortunately, in the end, it is all froth and wasted energy, lost productivity.

People who are successful at this affiliate marketing are lean, mean fighting machines. They'll bump their head against the wall and find a way around it. They don't spend a lot of time banging their heads on it.

The fact of the matter is this site comments has been an ongoing problem for some time. By no means think this situation of yours is unique. You're dealing with the general public when you engage in site comments and you're going to get a wide range of responses. That should be something you can anticipate ANYTIME you deal with people you don't know. This is controlled environment in comparison to the marketplace you are going to try to be successful in.

So unless your goal is to become an expert on it, realize that until its fixed its not worth a lot of time, spend it on something else :)

cheers Marc

Thank you Marc, very well received.
You speak true words of wisdom.

I did not know Site Comments was such
a thorn, maybe that is why you can't find to
much about them.

I am going to heed your suggestions and remove
the post, because I really don't want to be frothing up
the scum.

It is times in life that a second wiser mind is needed
to bring one back down to earth. I thank you for being
the sane one here at the moment.....lol

Cindy

well it's not necessary to remove the post, LOL I didn't suggest that. But as you wish! POOF

I went to site comments a while ago, clicked on leave a comment, the post I was directed to was about make up, nail varnish etc, I have not the foggiest clue about make up, I couldn't possibly leave a comment on something I know absolutely nothing about, so i left it and i got penalized for it, it just doesn't seem fair at all,

I agree with you.

Wow.. I guess even in the most positive environment there can be some bad experiences.

I am really not sure how to help, but I'd like to follow this post to learn from this experience of yours.

I'm sure help will come along! Hang in there!

Idris

WA for me has been a very positive experience and it will continue to be, but once in a while you step on a little stone and you twist your ankle, but it will heal. I just needed to scream out in pain though....lol

Send a pm to Carson and link your message to this post and request you get another chance to comment and I am sure he will sort it out for you Cindy

That was the problem I could not figure out how to send Kyle or Carson a private message. I sent a message to Kyle thinking it was private and it went to his feed.

The private message part puts you through a bunch of drop downs. Grrrr! It was frustrating!

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/carson then private message him.
There might be a box appear with loads of answers- kind of weird. just uncheck the box
