I want to end this tutorial on teaching how to back-up your WordPress website. After all the works you have made on your WordPress website, it is always important to have a copy of it to ensure that whatever errors may happen on your website server, you always have a copy of your works available to you.

Steps to Back-up your WordPress website.

1. On the Main Navigation Menu, choose Tools. Then select Export.

2. There is an option to select what you want to export. At this point, choose All Content. This will contain all of your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, terms, navigation menus, and custom posts.

3. Click Download Export File to begin download of your website.

4. Next, choose Media. Select the month and year you started creating your website on Start Date, and on End Date, choose to the most recent month and year. Then click Download Export File again.

5. Your downloaded files must end with an extension name of ".xml". Save these files on a safe and secure disk that you can retrieve anytime you need.

How to Import your WordPress .xml files?

To retrieve the information on your saved Export files and use it again on a new website hosting account, here's what you should do.

1. Go to Tools and selectImport.

2. Choose WordPress and click Install Now.

3. Afterwards, click Run Importer.

4. Then, Click Choose File button and select your first .xml (All Content) file from your computer and then click Upload file and import.

5. Choose admin on the drop-down menu box on Import Author, check the box Download and import file attachments, then click the Submit button.

That's all for backing up and using the back-up file you made from your website. Don't forget to back-up your website at least monthly to ensure that you have a copy of your website in case of emergency.

What's great with Wealthy Affiliate, they automatically backs-up your website daily. So, if there are crashes that will happen on your website, just contact SiteSupport and they will always be there to clear your troubles.

Trouble happens only if there are poor codes on your theme or plugins or some conflicts between like incompatibility.

Tasks 0/2 completed
1. Back-up your wordpress website and download the .xml file.
2. Create an .xml file for your Media and download it.

I created a second page. When I went to the different pages, and used the parent button - the pages are switched around. Is it supposed to be like that?

No, I have not created a sub-page yet as I do not have enough details to do that. I need specifics and if it's too simple - it doesn't have enough information. I've read the directions a bunch of times and I still don't get it.

Thanks Carl for letting me know this, I stand corrected.

When importing the back-up files (.xml) start importing the "All Content" file. Tutorial updated now.

The "Media" file back-up is for emergency purposes only if in case the "All Media" file didn't show the media / pictures on your posts or pages. So, to make sure of that, you can import the "Media" file after importing the "All Content" file.

Thanks for having this tutorial, I'm glad it's becoming useful to my fellow members here.
