Your Posts and Pages will be more effective if your readers are participating on it. In order for your readers to participate on your posts and pages, you should allow them to comment on it.

On this lesson, I will help you manage your comments, allowing readers to posts their comment, review first their comments before publishing it on your website, and delete unwanted and irrelevant comments on it.

To start, let's allow first your readers to post comments on your Posts or Pages. Sometimes, your readers can't comment because your comment feature is disabled.

Steps to Allow your Readers to Comment on your Posts or Pages

1. On your Post, find the Screen Options that your can find on the top right corner of the screen. Click it to expand options.

2. On the Boxes options, tick the Discussion box.

3. Scroll down to check if the Discussion section box appears, just tick the Allow comments box.

How to Control the Comments from Readers?

To moderate the comments coming into your website, manage it through Settings and Discussion.

1. To do that, on the Main Navigation Menu, clickSettings then select Discussion.

2. If you want comments to be approved first before publishing on your website, on Before a comment appears section, tick the box on Comment must be manually approved. After doing this, all your comments will be pending and will not be shown on your website unless you approve it.

You can browse other options on Discussion Settings and edit it the way you want it to be. But, for now, what's important is to review comments first before appearing on your website by doing the above tasks.

How to Approve Comments?

Now, to approve the comments that are pending on your site, here's what to do.

1. On the Main Navigation Menu, click Comments. You will find all the comments here from you and your readers.

2. If you browse a comment, the links Approve / Unapprove, Reply, Quick Edit, Edit, Spam, Trash will appear. Just click an option on these link on what you want to do on that specific comment.

So, there you have it, now you have an idea how to manage your comments on your website. Isn't that easy?

Tasks 0/2 completed
1. Delete the default comment created during WordPress installation.
2. Check the "Comment must be Manually Approved" on Discussion Settings.

I created a second page. When I went to the different pages, and used the parent button - the pages are switched around. Is it supposed to be like that?

No, I have not created a sub-page yet as I do not have enough details to do that. I need specifics and if it's too simple - it doesn't have enough information. I've read the directions a bunch of times and I still don't get it.

Thanks Carl for letting me know this, I stand corrected.

When importing the back-up files (.xml) start importing the "All Content" file. Tutorial updated now.

The "Media" file back-up is for emergency purposes only if in case the "All Media" file didn't show the media / pictures on your posts or pages. So, to make sure of that, you can import the "Media" file after importing the "All Content" file.

Thanks for having this tutorial, I'm glad it's becoming useful to my fellow members here.
