This is now the end of this tutorial. I hope you have learned many things about WordPress so far.

So, let's review now all the things that you have learned on this training.

  1. The requirements for a WordPress website are website hosting, domain name and the WordPress software. WordPress software is installed automatically at Wealthy Affiliate through SiteBuilder.
  2. There is a manual way of logging into WordPress dashboard through the URL Login Page link which consists of a URL domain name and /wp-login.php at the end.
  3. WordPress Dashboard consists of Main Navigation Menu, Admin Bar and WorkArea.
  4. You can install a new theme through Appearance then Themes.
  5. You can create sub-pages for your Pages.
  6. You can categorized a post as many as you want.
  7. Tags can't be arranged into hierarchy like in Categories.
  8. You can insert a link to an image and open it to another tab.
  9. External links are links outside your website, while Internal links are links to your posts and pages within your website.
  10. Custom menus can be found also on the sidebar, not only on the header and footer part of the website.
  11. You can also put comments on Pages by going to the Screen Options and then check the Discussions box.
  12. You can moderate comments on Discussion Settings by approving it manually on Comments section.
  13. Poorly coded plugins causes your website to slow down.
  14. .XML is the extension name for the downloaded export file of a WordPress website.

What to do next?

If you want to create a good website, you need to have a good plan. You should know what to do with your website and why you need to do it. Here's a questionnaire that you can use for the blueprint of your website.

  1. What am I going to do with this?
  2. Who is going to read this?
  3. What kinds of information will I be posting?
  4. Why am I doing this?
  5. Who am I doing this for?
  6. How often am I going to be post information?

Now, compile this information into a paragraph form so it will look like this:

The purpose of this website is [Answer #1] for [Answer #2]. It will cover topics about [Answer #3] and I will be adding posts every [Answer #6]. I am doing this because [Answer #4] for [Answer #5].

Hope you had fun learning and creating WordPress website on your own. This is the start of your online journey.

I created a second page. When I went to the different pages, and used the parent button - the pages are switched around. Is it supposed to be like that?

No, I have not created a sub-page yet as I do not have enough details to do that. I need specifics and if it's too simple - it doesn't have enough information. I've read the directions a bunch of times and I still don't get it.

Thanks Carl for letting me know this, I stand corrected.

When importing the back-up files (.xml) start importing the "All Content" file. Tutorial updated now.

The "Media" file back-up is for emergency purposes only if in case the "All Media" file didn't show the media / pictures on your posts or pages. So, to make sure of that, you can import the "Media" file after importing the "All Content" file.

Thanks for having this tutorial, I'm glad it's becoming useful to my fellow members here.
