Stalk Your Competitors

Do you know who your competitors are? Or some of the influencers in your niche?

Do a quick search and see if these people are on Pinterest.

Your competitors are your greatest source of targeted followers. If someone is following your competitor, there is a good chance they will be interested in your stuff and want to follow you as well.

Search Out Your Competitors

If you know the names of some of your competitors you can do a simple search for them in your search bar.

If you don’t know any names yet, start looking at pins in your niche and look at the author. Click "Read It" on the pin and assess the quality of the article behind it - you should be doing this for every pin you pin - if its a good article, follow the author and start stalking.

On their profile you can see how many people they are following and how many are following them. Click on Followers and start hitting the Follow button.

Bonus tip - if you are targeting a gender specific niche (like Mom Bloggers), only follow women. Also, users with profile pictures are likely to be more engaged with the Pinterest platform.

After you've followed as many of that persons Followers you care to, click on Following. If your competitor is following someone they might be another high quality influencer you can use as a source of followers...

In Brief

  • Follow your competitors
  • Follow your competitors followers
  • Follow who your competitors are following

I use Pinterest and , as with all social media, I keep my activity there very niche specific. Much as I like knitting and dogs my niche is motorcycles - and I only pin and re-pin motorcycle related pins. When people I follow have multiple boards I only follow their motorcycle related boards. This is beginning to work for me.

Thank you for this training - I will start exploring people who have re-pinned a in as you suggest.
