Let's talk about group boards for a minute.

Group boards can be fabulous for exposure. Once you start getting a few followers, you will likely start getting invitations to pin to group boards. Sometimes you will be invited to boards that are completely irrelevant. Ignore these.

Here's a group board that I'm part of, I've drawn some arrows on the important parts I'm going to talk about next.

Follow Follow Follow

My favourite thing to do with group boards is to follow the contributors. They are your peers, competitors and influencers of your niche. Follow them, Like their pins, Pin their pins. Schmooze.

And follow the followers. People who are following the group board are most likely VERY interested in the topic - why? Because often people will follow other users just to get a follow in return, but a group board can't follow back...

This is also a good way to find more Competitors to stalk for their followers also.

Pin Exposure

Group boards are also great for getting your pins out to a wider audience. Make sure you read the rules (if there are any) and get to pinning. Use your judgment here - don't pin all your stuff at once or pin the same thing over and over. Be courteous or you may find you get uninvited.

In Brief

  • Accept invitations to relevant group boards
  • Follow board contributors
  • Follow board followers
  • Follow the followers and followings of both the above.

I use Pinterest and , as with all social media, I keep my activity there very niche specific. Much as I like knitting and dogs my niche is motorcycles - and I only pin and re-pin motorcycle related pins. When people I follow have multiple boards I only follow their motorcycle related boards. This is beginning to work for me.

Thank you for this training - I will start exploring people who have re-pinned a in as you suggest.
