Nah.. still not getting my head around the 'forwarded ' emails .. I got the email address down packed and I know it is important to have emails on your site . Were they supposed to use the 'email ' anyway for your site why do we have to forward them ? lol

It's basically either/or. You can have all your site email sent to a dedicated space (i.e. WA's Site Email), or you can just have it forwarded to an existing email that is more convenient for you, for example, Gmail. Just do whichever works best for your situation.

@Jimi1975, you're right, having your domain specific email is what is important The email forward is a choice . You don't really have to do it. I personally have made a decision not to create an email forward to try and separate the business and my personal stuff. I might change my mind at a later stage.
The reason for creating an email forward is for easy management, so you don't have to be logging into a different account to check your emails. You just have your emails from different email accounts being forwarded to one email of your choice. Doesn't always work for everyone.

I watched the feed back video. I still have so much work to do before I can request feedback. I don't like how my site looks right now. I am going to change somethings but I have to figure out how first. Once I do then I will request feedback on my site.

Hi there,
I've replaced the email in my site's Privacy Policy to my domain specific email (jess@sweetiebynature.com). However, when I click on that link, it brings me to another page on my site that says "Oops! That page can't be found."
How can I change this so that clicking on the link will bring my visitors to their personal email service (i.e. Gmail, Outlook, etc.)?
Maybe I haven't hit the tutorial for this step yet... Thanks for any help!

If I create an email forward to a general gmail account and I reply to an email from this gmail account, will it show as coming from my gmail account or will it show as coming from the email specific to my domain? For example, you forwarded your email from craftycontent to wealthyaffiliate. Will the recipient of your reply see it coming from craftycontent or wealthyaffiliate? Make sense? Please advise. Thanks.

You would need to set up your domain-based email in gmail as a reply as, which would allow you to send using that email address. There are quite a few tutorials available on Wealthy Affiliate, and here is a good one that I found:

I'm not sure where in my Privacy Policy to enter my new email. In the Access Your Personal Info area it looks like it may go where it says "Email your request to our data protection officer at ....is this where my original siterubix.com address goes? And I got to this thru my Site Content/Editor, is this where I do my editing?

Yes. If you go into Websites > Site Content, look at the menu at the top and you should see a link for Templates. There you will see a template for your Privacy Policy. Just scroll through it and change each part that says "YOURWEBSITE" and leave everything else the same. Then just hit publish :-)

Yes put your email after that part, and yes Site Content/Editor allows you to create content and choose to post it to your website or blog, but be careful, the WA Site Content editor, automatically puts your content in grey against a white background, which is very hard to read for consumers, it should always be black against white, so you will have to write and publish and then manually go in and change the content color to black. Or you can just build out your site from within your WordPress editor by simply clicking on Websites > your site and Log In and then work like that.

Hmm, I don’t know about having to change the text color as that issue didn’t come up in the training. I’ve had one heck of a time just knowing where to do any editing and how to save it for this. It really slows my progress but thanks all the same, I appreciate it!

The training you get here is great for anyone who wants to achieve success within a good 1-2 years, if you wish to succeed quicker, I recommend trusting those who are very successful and who gleaned insights into "what works" outside of the training here. This training is amazing in WA, but there is SOO MUCH MORE to learn that you can't find here but can find elsewhere if you look.

Hi Kyle, another great tutorial. Thanks! I was a little bit confused at the beginning of your tutorial video. For instance, I don't have the Activity dashboard tab at the upper left, I don't have the Site Rubix tab on the left side. Anyway, I managed to complete this training successfully. Thank you.

I had to look up what SMTP stands for. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Interesting. I am really starting to get into this. At first, I hated getting stuck. Now I think I love it because it means that I must first not get frustrated and learn how to exercise patience. Oh boy... another problem to solve
When I wake up at 2am in the morning, I have something to do, rather than waiting to fall asleep again. It's 3:55 now and I'm going strong.

Coming to Wealthy Affiliate is like being given an erector set for Christmas when I was a child. We never stop building things and of course taking them apart and putting them back together again.

When I was in my 20's there was I time when I wanted to become an auto mechanic.
It was a dream there in my mind but I never ran with. Later on in life, I always envied my friends that were really adept at working on cars.

Learning how to build a website is like building a house. In the end, you can look back on what you did and derive a sense of satisfaction at what you've accomplished. I'll be sending you the link when it's in its final format.

Need help soon as possible please.

Choose a domain for your email address from the list of domains in the drop down. If you do not have a domain added to your account, then you will need to add a domain and build a website first.

Do I have to get my new own domain?

Hey Shenai. I believe that domain emails are only available with domains that you purchase and own. In other words, you won't be able to use site email with a siterubix website.

hi, i'm not able to forward the email to my outlook nor yahoo, error message pop up... Oops! You already have a webmail inbox for contactme@247shoptillyoudrop.com. You cannot have both a forward and a webmail inbox. To create a forward you need to first delete the webmail inbox for contactme@247shoptillyoudrop.com by clicking 'delete' in your list of accounts below.

the tutorial video did not need to delete the email, any idea what went wrong?

Video was very comprehensive, and I was easily able to set up a couple of email addresses tied to my domain. However, when I tried to create a forwarder to my Gmail address, I received and error that says I "cannot have both a forward and a webmail inbox". I thought Kyle said several times in the video that we can forward to Gmail. I also tried to forward to another email address that I have, which is also accessible via webmail and received the same error.

Am I missing a step?

I created an email address for my domain "thefitbusinesstraveler.com", I have the email address:
brad@thefitbusinesstraveler.com
Domain is registered and hosted here @ WA.

Are you saying that I cannot have this email address forward to a Gmail address? That I can only have one or the other?

Not a big deal, but certainly not how it was explained in the video...

That is correct - you can have an address that forwards OR an address that collects - you can have both, but not the exact same address - you have to specify the behavior for each address you set up - either forward or collect.

I have not purchased a domain name yet. I was hoping to wait until I had my website more built out and ready. Is it possible to create an email with my siterubix domain or is creating an email for my website something that's going to have to wait due to me waiting to purchase a domain?
Reply

HI Zachery, I had to recheck the video on setting up your own email and it is not possible to create an email with your siterubix domain.
I understand where you are coming from and hosting your own domain seems to be big step.
I took a while before I purchased my 1st domain because I wasn't sure what to pick. I finally put the time in researching a domain name and then was able to finally move past that point.
The cost of purchasing a domain seems very low so your best bet is to do the research into a good name and then adding your email will be a simple step.
You will have plenty of opportunity to build out your website once you have your own domain.
Best of luck with your efforts -
Ray

Just wanted to clarify. I just set my email address as an email forward.
Tested it and found it forwarded to the account I specified. When I logged back into my wealthy affiliate account and went back into the site email I found I couldn't log in and view the email there. I would like to know if I have the correct understanding of this. If I set email address up as a new email mailbox I can view email through my wealthy affiliate account and if I set up the email address as a new email forward I will only be able to view the email at the address it was forwarded to. Have I understood this correctly?

If you set up a forward, you cannot check your email here in WA. You can have one or the other - either an email address to check inside WA, via AtMail, or a forward, where you can check your email at the address where you are sending it.

Hello all, please can you help us?
We just set up our first domain specific email address and that seemed to go well. To test it out, we sent ourselves an email from one of our other email accounts (hotmail). We then logged in to our Webmail and we could see the message in the inbox but when we double-clicked on that message all we get is the From:, To: and Subject: lines, but the message itself is not there. As we double click on the inbox the actual message seems to flash for a second, then disappears. So, we tried doing the whole thing again but the result is the same. We simply cannot see the content of our emails. We tried sending a message (to our hotmail account), and this, too, was successful, but again when we tried to view the message in Sent Items in our Webmail, the same thing happens, i.e. we can see the details such as From, To and Subject but again no content. The only time we can see the content of the original message is when we click on "reply".
We would be most grateful if someone can help us. Thank you, Colette and Philip

Hi did you set the email campaign as a forward or as a regular email. If you set it up as a forward, then what you did was created another name for your regular hotmail account. So, in other words when you use that email if forwards to your hotmail email account.

I have not tried it from outlook but have tried this from my online gmail account and it does work - there may be a little difference with the outlook - with the gmail it automatically sends a test mail to your gmail account.
in theory outlook should test the connection to make sure it is ok

Hi Folks, I have been viewing Kyle's video on setting up a domain specific email account plus the forwarding setup. At 12:10 of the video Kyle mentions setting up an alias via gmail to reply to forwarded messages so the messages come from your domain email. Does anyone know when or where these instructions appear in the lessons? I do not wish to reply to messages from my personal email. Please advise.
Reply
onmyownterms Premium
I don't believe there are any lessons for that... the way I do it is to set up an actual webmail address, then 'pull' that address using Gmail, which then makes it easy to send using that address from within Gmail.
Reply
alwyngarth Premium
When you say "actual webmail address" do you mean the domain specific email address? When you say "pull that address" are you saying forwarding to gmail from your domain address? I don't understand what you mean by "use that address within gmail"? My apologies but I am a newbie and technically challenged. Your help is much appreciated!
Reply
onmyownterms Premium
OK, I mean set up the domain email as an actual email address, not a forward. Write down your SMTP settings, you'll need these in the next step.
Go to Gmail and set it up to access your domain email address - this will allow you to use Gmail as your email client.
Once you've done this, you'll be able to send/receive email from your Gmail account using your domain email address.

I attempted to add my domain email to my gmail account. I added the SMTP settings from my outgoing mail which gmail accepted. It informed me that it had sent a confirmation code to my domain mail. My inbox received nothing, even after logging off and booting up in several attempts. Because I could not give the confirmation code I am stymied. Please advise

I have set up the domain specific email account plus the forwarding setup and it works fine. I tested the forwarding by sending a message to my domain email from my gmail account and the message was received on my Outlook account which is a personal account. Then from my Outlook account I replied to the message and it was received in my gmail account. However in the gmail account the sender's email account (Outlook) was displayed. I would not want my personal email address shown when replying to a customer. How may I configure things so the recipient sees the domain specific (business) email address?
One other observation, in the lesson, it is explained that you should insert your domain email into the Privacy Policy of your website, however you are not told how to do this. Fortunately I figured out how to edit the text of the Privacy Policy but I can easily see how someone else could be stumped!

Reply
onmyownterms Premium
Manually configure using the information in SiteEmail, you'll have the info, just plug them in the correct boxes.
Reply
alwyngarth Premium
Hi Mel, Following your advice, I tried to insert the settings manually with no luck. When you set up the mail forwarding with siterubix you don't have the incoming server settings anymore only the outgoing settings. So when you go to Outlook to input the server information you can only input outgoing server information. You cannot click "Next" because the Next button is grayed out. You cannot proceed further. It appears that you cannot proceed further in the setup unless you input the incoming server settings. I have been told by my email service provider that to use their incoming settings on a different server would not be allowed. Please advise.

In that case, set up the email address as a real email address (not forwarding) and use Outlook to do the forward for you instead?

Regarding email forwarding.... Does the same setup apply if I purchased the domain through GoDaddy? They have email forwarding associated with the domain, too. I went there first to set up a forward, and their help desk said I have to edit DNS settings in WA for that to work. But then I viewed the video here, and it says nothing about any of that. I want to keep the domain in GoDaddy (along with my others, pre-WA). Is there anything different needed to make it forward?
Reply
MozMary Premium
hold on! where are you hosted?!

it sounds like you are in the process of changing hosting without realizing?

so you bought your domain at godaddy but you are hosted here on the WA DNS settings?

so set up your email where you are hosted, don't change hosting

ALSO, you seem to be confusing webmail with email forwarding, here is a training on email forwarding and professional email at WA, it would be a little different elsewhere because WA have set things up a bit better

Domain purchased on GoDaddy. Hosting at WA, through SiteRubix. GoDaddy DNS settings set properly to show my WA-hosted site. That much is working.
No, I'm not confusing one for another; I understand the difference. I'm just not clear on the setup.
Given above (Domain through GD, Hosting through WA), the question is, does the forwarding setup in the video apply, as-is? If yes, then I'm probably done - except that I've not received my test email yet.
I don't want webmail (which GD wants me to buy). No, I'll be happy with forwarding. But does the WA setup take care of it?
I set up a FORWARD in GD, but they say I need to modify WA DNS zone settings, which isn't covered in the WA video.

I have two domains at Namecheap and they are hosted here with no problems setting up my emails here in this way :) If your websites are hosted here you should have no problem setting them up like this.

"setting them up like this" = according to the video?
If so, I must still be missing something, because test email sent to my forwarded address isn't getting to me.
I've cleared out any forwarding setup I did at GoDaddy, just following video instructions now, but still no email reaching my gmail account.

I tried to create a tutorial but WA minimum is 4 pages, so I'm posting this to hopefully help future newbies to this process:

STEP BY STEP: CREATING E-MAIL ACCOUNTS & E-MAIL FORWARDS:
THIS SHOULD BE THE ONLY M&P (METHOD & PROCEDURE) YOU WILL EVER NEED!

This process has been made much too confusing here at WA. Why? I am not sure.
I am usually one to demystify overly-complicated processes, but this one has been made much TOO complicated and for much TOO long.

I believe this should finally simplify this PROCESS for PREMIUM MEMBERS into EASY TO FOLLOW STEPS:

1.PICK A DOMAIN ! - THIS WILL BE ONE THAT YOU LIKE BUT THAT WILL ONLY BE USED FOR WA WEBMAIL = RECEIVING AND SENDING E- MAIL - PERIOD!

2.SET UP THE DOMAIN / E-MAIL IN THE BASIC SITERUBIX E-MAIL MANAGER. AN IMAGE OF THE MANAGER IS BELOW FOR REFERENCE:

3.BELOW ARE SAMPLE EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU WOULD SET UP FOR DOMAINS USED JUST FOR "Sending & Receiving WA E-Mail."

4. THESE ARE SAMPLE WA DOMAIN E-MAILS FOR YOUR Inbox / Outbox E-MAIL, ONLY!! REMINDER** SET UP the “TEST” Domain E-mail AND Only ONE MORE of your choice!

test@sample777.com
me@sample777.com
support@sample777.com
admin@sample777.com
info@sample777.com

5. THEN, ONCE WA WEBMAIL HAS “TURNED ON” THE DOMAINS / E-MAILS THAT YOU HAVE SET UP, TEST the “Test” E-mail Domain TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS.

6. THEN TEST THE OTHER Domain E-mail Address you chose & set up.

7. ONCE ALL ABOVE IS WORKING ** SET UP THE DOMAIN E-MAIL ADDRESSES FOR THE Business Specific WEBSITE ** in SITERUBIX the same way as above in steps 4 - 6. SET UP AS MANY AS YOU NEED.

8. TEST TO ENSURE THEY ALL WORK, as above in steps 4 - 6.

9. THEN ***FORWARDING BEGINS HERE ** FORWARD YOUR Business Website Domain E-mails to whichever ONE DOMAIN you chose & made earlier in steps 1 - 6.

10. BEST ADVICE? Once Again (Referring to Steps 1 - 6) We hope you have CHOSEN, SET UP & USED Only ONE FORWARD DOMAIN E-MAIL. WHY? Otherwise things will get confusing and/or confused later on when your business gets busier with e-mail.

VOILA! You Should Be ALL SET! ENJOY.

Hi Everyone - my e-mail forwarding simply will not work. Google / gmail will not or does not recognize the siterubix server or my domain as "active." or logged in. Simple as that. I have tried deleting and setting up the forwards more than once. It doesn't work. I can't find an e-mail client within WA either, which I always thought was a bit weird.

I already knew how to set up a domain specific email address but I watched the video anyway because I don't believe that you should assume you know everything.

I did not know how to do the email forwarding. So I'm glad I watched all of the video.

I do have a question - when setting up your email forwarding why do you need to set up a new email address again?

For example the video uses admin@ - my domain email address is danni@boomergenerationrunners.com so why not use that?

DynamicDavid Premium
In Site Email in WA, the same email address can not both be a 'normal email account' and a 'forward email'. Using 'forward emails' is great because you can forward the emails all to the one email account, instead of opening up a number of different email accounts, and depending on your email provider, you can reply from there.

You could have danni@boomergenerationrunners.com as a forwarder to say danni@gmail.com, read the email in gmail, reply to it in gmail, and the reply looks like it comes from danni@boomergenerationrunners.com

You could have support@boomergenerationrunners.com as a forwarder to say danni@gmail.com, read the email in gmail, reply to it in gmail, and the reply looks like it comes from support@boomergenerationrunners.com

So you would only look at emails in gmail, and not in danni@boomergenerationrunners.com and not in support@boomergenerationrunners.com

This is easy enough to set up. Let me know if you need help (by replying to this comment).

I found it easy enough to set up. I just wasn't quite sure on the email address used for forwarding.

So if I had a couple of emails for my domain like it showed on the video I could just create one to use for forwarding and all of them would be forwarded under that domain email address to the one I chose?
Reply
DynamicDavid Premium
Yes. But your replies might look as if they are coming from the address that the email is forwarded to. The person whom you are emailing with, might notice and may not like that.
I do not want to send an email to say david@abc.com, and receive a reply from support@abc.com
You might be the same.

And if you have say a personal email account at gmail you could forward them all to that address and send replies from your gmail account, making it look like it comes from the original email address.

Mary, a WA member created great training on how to do this:

I have a Gmail account but I don't use it much because I have an Outlook account with as part of my Microsoft Office account and I much rather use that.

Fair enough. Each to their own. I tried without success to get the online version of outlook/Hotmail to do this for me. I lost a lot of time and a lot of effort, even with the support of WA technical support I could not get it working for me in the way I wanted.

Someone suggested that I use a gmail account, I resisted for a few weeks. But after spending another day trying to get my online version of outlook/Hotmail to do this for me, I gave gmail a go, and it just worked correctly for me on the first pass.

I think that the online version of outlook/Hotmail is different to what you are using and hopefully you will not have the same experience that I did. But if you do, you at least are aware of another option.

All the best.

Yeah I have heard that people have had issues with setting up outlook.
I found it pretty straight forward setting up extra email accounts within Outlook but I've not tried using forwarding yet.
I am considering using Gmail for one reason though because I think once you start to get too much email Microsoft wants you to upgrade to a business account. Whereas Gmail is free.

Don't put your username and password in the privacy policy!

You do not create a mailbox for a forward. That's only if you want to use Atmail as your inbox. Not many of us here want to do that...lol. In fact, you cannot create a mailbox and forward for the same address.

To use the forward feature you don't need to add any emails here at WA.

The forward works only for a domain that you own.

Do this: (Kyle shows this from 9.50 into the video)

-Select the email forward tab
-Choose a domain from the drop down (not from the email list)
-insert a name in the field, e.g. admin, or fayg1, or anything
-insert the email inbox address you wish to forward to
-hit the create button

The address you put in the privacy policy is the name you gave your domain email, e.g. fayg1@yourdomain dot com

When I went to foward my new email to my esisting a pop up appeared and said I had to delete it first to do do. This was after I had successfully set up my new site related email.
So I deleted it :/
And didn't name it admin I named it mike . But I don't think the admin thing caused the issue.
Any way after deleting then forwarding I went to update my privacy policy to my new email- as soon as I hit the edit here button a WA page opens up and wants me to put my username and password in? This has never popped up before when making changes?
None of my email / passwords will. Work
New info email stuff and password
Existing email and password
And my username and WA password won't work?

What should I enter ?
new site email or
Existing old email?
I tried the forgot password but diddnt revive password?
After trying for a while I went back and watched the video again . I noticed that he diddnt delite his new smpt settings in order to make it work. He said he could delete if he wanted to but the program diddnt make him in order to finalize the foward like mine did! Oops. I think I messed up! Any body have any ideas on where to go from here?

you had to delete the webmail email to create an email forward of the same name

just choose an email and create an email forward and set things up you won't be able to get back into webmail on the one you deleted, just set up a new one there if you want - but really once you do email forward you won't want to use the hosting email, it does ask for passwords whereas the email forward will go to your gmail

It was mostly the fact that the pop up pass word wasn't letting me continue . But after I took the steps to reset my password everything seems to be alright! I emailed my mom to ask her who it shows up - who it's from? My construction buisness or my affiliate marketing buisness. As long as those don't get mixed up I think I will be fine:)

So after I setup a website specific email and I want to forward any emails I receive to my website specific email to my gmail account, I just need to simply add in the gmail address into the "forward to" option that was shown in this video? Or is there something else I need to do to forward emails to my personal Gmail address?

If worse came to worse and you had to leave WA for whatever reason (or even if you simply want to leave) you can easily move your registered domains over to another hosting server away from WA. There are tutorials for this should you need help.

As for sending email from your domain name, there is a great tutorial to show you the PERFECT way to handle this: Hope this helps you.

Hey Maureen, getting your own domain is a really good idea, especially since the domain is hosted here at Wealthy Affiliate and so much cheaper than other hosting providers. Only $13.99-$15.99 per year with full support, unlimited hosting, security, etc. The domain email is also a great feature to take advantage of and adds professionalism to your communications.

I use domain forwarding so that I can access my domain email from my phone instead of having to login to Wealthy Affiliate and I have it set up so that I can also respond using Gmail and still have it look like I'm responding from the domain email. It's actually a simple process.

This tutorial should help :)

Hey John,

Having mulled your questions over during my night’s sleep, trying to figure out the best way to explain this too you without confusing you even more ... I think I may have it ... soooo ... here goes:

Once you are certain that a mailto tag is coded properly, the computer that is used to click on that link needs to have an email program setup and ready for use or the link will not work. This is why it is recommended that we use email forms (covered in detail in Kyle’s training) on our contact page.

Hope this helps you.

Is there any known troubles with non-.com domains?

I have trouble with a .dk domain that is fully hosted using the mywahosting.com domains name servers. I also have a .com domain with same setup and do not notice the same problem.

I am not able to send mail from the .dk to a gmail-account. The account does not recieve anything either. I have also tried echo mailers like echo@tu-berlin.de and ping@stamper.itconsult.co.uk - nothing is pinged back to the .dk-domain. The only thing possible is sending from the .dk to the .com, both domains hosted @ mywahosting.com. I am not able to send reply from the .com to the .dk domain.

How to solve this?

Hi!

Until today, I haven't received any reply!
To be honest I didn't care about receiving an answer because I read the lesson again and there was very clearly mentioned that creating a domain specific email address depends on having your own domain.

After careful consideration I decided on 17 January to buy a domain. I am convinced it is worth it: it cost me only $ 13.99 per year. It includes:
- the yearly renewal at same amount
- privacy protection
- email account
- no upsells

Think about it! You are just going to profit from your own domain.

Cheers,
Balsam

If we get 25 domains that seems like it would end up kind of costly at first. And if I orchard a domain thru go daddy would it still be hosted on the WA or siterubix platform here?

What's important to note here is that the information provided on the Websites and Hosting page for incoming and outgoing server is ONLY compatible with Gmail. That means that if you use the Mail app for Mac or ANY other email platform for your email then you will have to move all of your email accounts to Gmail to have all email in the same place. That also means that if you want to send a reply to someone with your domain specific email address then you have to either use the AtMail email or gmail.

For instance I open a mailbox account and use it for a while. When I feel need to forward it to my personal email I can create an email forward. But it's written that I have to delete the mailbox and then to create the email forward. Ok.
What happens with my emails in the mailbox's inbox outbox etc?
Are they going to be deleted together with my mailbox or not?

Hey Sanela,

That's a tricky question and the answer varies depending on which mail provider you use for your personal account. Not all providers give you the option to import email from external accounts. Gmail however is pretty friendly from what I've seen and actually gives you the option to import from other providers.

My advice to you would be to either do the forwarding from the get go (easiest route), or if you can't for some reason do so, use a mail client (such as Outlook or Thunderbird) to manage your email on your computer. If you choose the latter (more cumbersome) option you can always archive your email and save it locally, and then delete the mailbox hosted on WA without a problem. Your archive would always be locally available on your computer in that case so you wouldn't lose emails.

Once more, the real answer depends on your specific situation. Hope this helps.

Rgds,
Joshua.
