Learning from Failure
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Thomas A. Edison (thanks to brainyquote.com)
Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again. Richard Branson (thanks to brainyquote.com)
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. Calvin Coolidge (thanks to brainyquote.com)
Calvin Coolidge, Silent Cal, became President of the United States when Harding died in 1923. He decided not to run for the office again. I think that that is too bad because he was one of the most brilliant of our presidents.
When you read his quote on failure, you see that he was an observant man. Isn’t it true that too many people waste their talents or don’t use them at all?
And genius is not always rewarded nor does an educated man always succeed.
Pres. Coolidge said that we must be determined and persistent in our pursuits for success.
Richard Branson is a man who has had great success. He is always living on the frontier. Recently he had a big disaster in his program to fly ordinary citizens into space. But he said that they would learn from that disaster and that he would not quit and that he would be flying with his family into space to show that it was safe. Like his quote says, we must learn from our mistakes.
Thomas Jefferson, the master of failure, said that we quit too soon. That is, we are often on the verge of success when we give up. Now I know that that is true. I see it all the time on the Internet. I see it here at WAU.
Those who would like to earn money on the Internet often quit too soon because it is a tough row to hoe and it takes time to learn the tricks that will make you successful.
To avoid failure, we need to educate ourselves to the point where we do not fail over the obvious. We gently step over pitfalls and continue on our journey until we trip on a log and end up with mud in our face.
That is when we get up and trudge on.
John
P.S. i wrote this for another site but decided it was needed here much more.

Thank you, Judy. Life is full of obstacles to trip over. The more obstacles we have, the larger the opportunities to grow. That is if we get up and dust our knees. lol J
I've done a lot of tripping and I am still dusting my knees off, but I'm getting there. :) lol
Great post John.....here is a couple of my favourite quotes to share.
Winston Churchill. ..."Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality that guarantees all the rest."
Courage enables us to overcome the hurdles and challenges that we face in the search for success.....you dont know if you dont try!
+
Booker T. Washington
"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed."
I get so frustrated sometimes with the details and learning curves in this new frontier....but the above quote has taught me that if i dont know what it is to overcome the hurdles...then i cant help and teach others to overcome the same challenges. When i overcome the challenge ...i am stronger, more confident and prepared to help others and "lead by example". The experiences teach you that you can overcome any hurdle and keep on going.
So brush off your knees, get back on that bike....and show em what you got!!!!

Thank you, Amanda! Edison was such a great example of persistence as was Robert Lewis Stevenson who was never well enough to write, but he wrote every day despite never feeling well on day in his life.
Hi John,
Some time failure is good because it can show an
individual where there mistakes are when they
make revisions in their work.
Which is what I'm doing now because I can see
a lot of detail I have missed in building an online
business by reviewing the WA course material.
Thanks for the post.
Right! There are lessons to be learned from our mistakes. When we can't see the lesson, that is the time to look for help. J
Thank you TJ for a very well written article that makes a very important point. I, for one, will not quit. Sure it is hard, but not meeting the needs of my WHY is harder still. I enjoyed this one very much. It's nice to see your writing style. Very pleasant to read.
Thanks for sharing this! It's so important to learn from our failures, because that means we are just that much closer to hitting the mark the next time!
