Affiliate Marketing needs a New Name
Unfortunately, the Make Money Online community has tarnished the image of Affiliate Marketing. To the uneducated mind, affiliate marketing has become perceived as a scam like the pyramid or ponzi.
The simplicity of a tracking link between a product and a prospect has been complicated by trainers, coaches and gurus that “claim” to have the secrets.
There is no secret solution.
I think our challenge is simply making aligned connections, building sincere authentic relationships, and offering solutions to fulfill desires.
Getting sales is a huge struggle for most people attempting to make money online. And a plethora of the self proclaimed successful online marketers are posers that are pretending to be successful. (The fake it till ya make it crowd)
Do you think the Affiliate Marketing industry needs a facelift?
Have you ever been to the Affiliate Marketing Summit?
Do you think these gurus and trainers are doing a disservice to the Affiliate Marketing industry?
We are not scammers.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this Brad. Although it is hard to point out which is real and which are not only because I feel that they are all saying the same thing.

Hi, the Magic Brad.
You raise some very important points.
It is nice to hear from you again.
Paul from Canada.
Hello Brad
Thank you for this great blog post and for raising this important point. Unfortunately fake gurus have ruined things for us and made it so hard to succeed with affiliate marketing especially for beginners.
I have been at it for a while and have not made any money yet due to a lot of people thinking I'm a scammer or fake guru and not giving me a chance. I also struggle with traffic and lack of consistency has made things harder for me to. But I agree with what you have said in this blog post.
Despite my own challenges there are so many scammers and fake gurus out there that make things very hard for us honest people. It is also frustrates me that a lot of fake gurus have large cult like followings on YouTube and social media.
People follow them, waster hours, days and weeks on the strategies these gurus show but make no money and won't listen when honest people try to tell them the truth. I got hated on for telling the truth once and it led to the downfall of my YouTube channel which I ended up loosing but for a different reason.
It also annoys how much these gurus and marketers spam their links and make fake claims about how rich they are. Many of them make big money by making us poor. They will say anything to make money or get a commission and this angers the heck out of me.
There are even members on Wealthy Affiliate that have outdated content and don't care if they are misleading people or providing false information because they will say anything to get a commission. A WA member recently posted about this on his WA blog. You might be interested in Andre's post if you haven't seen it yet.
Here is the link Get your act together I think it is time affiliate marketing got a facelift but I'm unsure how this would work. I'd like to see things like this discussed more often and somehow see all the fake gurus loose and be stopped. It might never happen but I would love to see it happen though.
I have never been to an affiliate marketing summit but I would like to be able to go to one someday to check it out. All the fake gurus and scammers are doing a big disservice to the make money online industry and to the affiliate marketing industry. They need to be stopped and the truth needs to be told more often.
Thank you again for this great blog post and for raising this important point. I fully agree with what you said in this blog post and I fully support you. I look forward to reading more of your blog posts. All the best to your success.
Regards
Timothy
A scammer will not disclose their actual location and city of residence. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota and have for over 60 years.
Scammers hide behind their keyboards and green screens or pose in from of impressive backgrounds like ocean views or exotic cars. They primarily talk about money money money and rich lifestyle.
I still believe in the ability to make a living promoting products and services and earning commissions via a unique tracking link. But I no longer feel comfortable calling myself an “affiliate marketer” anymore.
Hello Brad
Thank you for your reply. That is a great point you make and you are correct.
I live in Southeast Queensland Australia and I have lived here all my life since I was 15 months old.
I was born in Townsville in the Whitsundays and my mum and I moved to the Southeast Queensland when i was 15 months old because of the climate of north Queensland.
I agree with you. I have seen many of the fake gurus doing exactly as you describe. They show expensive cars, luxury islands and talk about how they got rich online.
Ryan Hildreth, Dave Nick and Kevin David are just some examples of the many of them I have seen on YouTube and around the internet. I also still believe in the ability to make a living by promoting products and service that's why I'm still trying and haven't given up.
I can understand why you are uncomfortable calling yourself an affiliate marketer. I still am for now but that's because I don't know what else to call myself. Thank you again for your reply and for this great blog post. I look forward to reading more of your blog posts. All the best to your success.

Timothy
Hello Roger
Thank you for your comment. Yes I agree with you. AI is becoming more popular and is causing quite a stir especially in the make money online industry.
I'm not a fan of AI and I have only used it a little bit for testing and experimental purposes. I like to do all my work myself and keep my content my own and 100% original.
AI has huge potential to change the world for the better or for worse. I have a feeling it is going to be a huge threat to all of us though which is another reason I'm staying away from it.
It would need to blow my mind in some way to make me want to use it but that has not happened yet and I don't think it will any time soon. Thank you again for your comment and for sharing your thoughts. All the best to your success.
Regards
Timothy

Hi Brad,
I see your point. Kyle and others have made it clear that the pathway to success is to master the flow of relevancy. This is easier said than done.
However, I am working hard in taking the necessary classes to master this skill. For SEO as well as for PPC strategies.
What alternate name would you suggest? My feeling.is the name marketing is what is degraded. When others hear you are involved in marketing, they may feel you are selling to them and create mental barriers.
Using affiliate links is the linchpin of our business. Hence I feel the term affiliate needs to be included. How about Affiliate Solutions? Or Affiliate Connections? Maybe even Affiliate Sales!
What do you think?
Cheers.
Edwin
Perhaps do what the Formerly know as Prince dude did and become a “symbol”.
As you mentioned, the essence is the unique “link” between a prospect and a product.
It is often the con artists that are giving it a bad name, by teaching people how to make money by teaching people how to make money.
Maybe it does not need a name.
😊
