Finally! After months of sun or cloudy and sunny weather insterspersed we have a real storm! It is raining all day and all night. A big, low pressure system has blown up from the Pacific and we are getting our first rain storm of the summer and first storm of any kind (other than wind) in months. We get thunderstorms over the mountains (right here) in the afternoons but they blow over quickly. This is a serious storm now since it is the tail end of a Tropical Storm named Maliksi.

That means I can finally get some time to write! I can finally add some blogs to my websites. I am unashamed to say I have been taking advantage of the Alaskan summer so far. Between my health problems that have been very challanging the last few weeks, being busy with work and friend and family obligations, I have not been doing anything with my sites except for coming up with ideas. I am very behind! I don't like that, but I am glad I am getting outside a bit in the sun. Winter is too long here and summer too short and perfect to stay inside! It was 76 last weekend and bright and sunny every day for what feels like weeks.

I found a new place to go and I am so excited to have a place to walk now in our "new" location. We have been here over a year and I had yet to find a place to go walk that didn't involve climbing a mountain or steep terraine.

I found the most lovely lake with a trail part way around it. Right now, the wild roses are blooming. There are roses everywhere around the lake! The air smells sweet in the heat of a sunny day. This is not my own picture but this is what the roses look like. Imagine thousands of these all scattered throughout the woods with the most amazing scent. Some have blooms 6 and 7 feet up.

There are also birch trees, spruce trees, poplar, alder, ferns and just so many different plants. It is green, green, green with white flowers and pink roses! There is also a great view of the mountains across the lake. We will have to get our kyaks back here so we can take them out. For now, this has been just what I so desparatly needed!

I have been getting outside enough that I won't mind being inside this weekend while the rain and wind whip outside! It is only 46 degrees tonight and feels pretty cold by comparison.

The upside to my latest round of health problems has been that I found a new product that I will be writting about on my website. I found a great keyword as well, now I just need to put it to use!

I hope you have all been doing well in WA land! I am behind on all the latest.

Jessica

I can understand: we moved to Arizona and we don't get much in the way of a change of seasons. But I remember when the first inklings of spring would appear, and how joyous it was!
Take full advantage!
Tim

Thanks Tim. I am and will continue to for the duration of our short but gorgeous summer!

Good Morning Jessica,

That sounds like a gorgeous place where you can recharge your batteries. I hope the new product will bring you relief. All the best.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Thanks Taetske! Yes, my new spot by the lake is only a 10 minute drive away so that is really nice. It would be great for ice skating and skiing in the winter too!

Hello Jessica, I must say that you were missed. Hope all is well.
Anyhow, it's so good to see you back to WA Land.
Despite of the stormy weather, you were overflooded with some valuable ideas & niche.

So, we never know how and when our fortune will flow in.

Continuous healing and wellness!

Blessings!

Louisa B

Hello Louisa,

Thank you! I hope you are doing well too.
Jessica

You're very welcome!

Hi, Jessica,

It happens. Welcome back and you have some new blog plans. Not too bad for being absent for a bit.

Take care and will talk again.

Becky

Hi Becky,
Thanks. Yes, I hope to make some progress. My husband will be going to see his parents out of town tomorrow but I can't go due to my foot. So, I can get some posting done hopefully.

Jessica

Hi, Jessica. Nice to see you back. I have missed you. Loved your description and pic of wild roses. That is Iowa's state flower. When I was a kid, they lined all the ditches, but now with all the pesticides sprayed on the fields, most of them have died. So glad to know they're still alive in Alaska!

Your walk around the lake sounds beautiful. Your words transported me right there with you.

I am going to be mostly away from WA in the next few weeks because I listed my house yesterday. Since I am downsizing and selling it turnkey, I have to get everything that does not stay in the house out and into storage before the pics can be taken and it can be shown. So guess what I'll be doing this weekend and next week!

I still have a little bit of painting and a lot of yard work to do, but guess it's going to have to wait until I "move" out!

Have fun writing during your storm. Be safe.

Carol

I hope your move is going ok. You sound very, very busy!

The roses are so wonderful for the short time while they are blooming. I am so glad we have some right here on our tiny property! I was so excited to see that since we have so little space here. I didn't know wild roses were the state flower of Iowa.

Thanks,
Jessica

I am very, very tired! Slept for 4 hours this afternoon, when I had planned on moving boxes into storage. I have to move the stuff that doesn't go with the house out before they take the pics, so have a mover coming later this week. Had planned to move as much as I can handle myself to decrease the expense, but have finally come to the conclusion that I am not bionic after all! Will have the movers take everything that goes instead of killing myself off trying to be super human and save a few bucks!

Still have a little painting (walls) to finish and more weed eating to do, but hope to be able to tackle my fairy garden soon. Right now it's grown up in weeds, and all the fairies are still sleeping in their boxes under the porch where they spent the winter out of the weather.

I have a rose here that looks like Iowa's wild rose, but they call them "knockout roses" here. They are very hardy and spread, which I like because I would like them to eventually cover my steep bank. But since I won't be living her any more, guess it doesn't matter if they spread or not! My lilies are budding but not blooming yet, but my pink, yellow, and peach roses are blooming. So pretty!

Hope you are feeling better, Jessica. I have a stress test tomorrow, so guess I'd better head to bed pretty soon.

Take care.

Carol

Your roses sound lovely Carol. Your fairy garden must be adorable!

I hope you get sleep and rest! We hired movers for the first time in our lives last year. We moved all the boxes etc. but let them move the furniture. Best decision ever...especially considering it had to be moved to the third floor where our unit is!

Yikes! That was a wise decision then. The guy who is supposed to move mine hasn't called me back. He's told me twice that he would check on things and call me back with a price, but never did. So, I have made arrangements for a consignment to come and pick up the antiques and the gun safe that I want to sell, and they will put the antique glassware on ebay for me. They charge 35%, but it's worth it to me not to have to worry about taking pics, putting the ads on, keeping track of things, but most of all, not having to do the packing and shipping and worrying about things getting broken.

Gotta get to bed. Have been researching glassware prices, and it's about time to be getting up. Guess who's gonna sleep in a bit tomorrow!

Nighty nite.

Carol

I went back to the lake last night. I can honestly say I have never seen so many roses in one place ever! Thousands and thousands of them just everywhere throughout the woods and along the trails! It's amazing!!

I am glad you are going to get some help moving!

Jessica

Still fighting with the movers. Can't have photographer to take the pics til the furniture that doesn't convey with the house is out of here. They say they'll be here today or tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath!

You have done yourself good by taking advantage of the Alaskan summer, Jessica. Sorry for your recent health problems, but I previously said you'd get some great writing out of all of this.

You may feel you are behind, but you are not as far behind as you think. And your next wave of Abundance in creating Great Content is swiftly approaching!

Thank you for always being so encouraging! I stumbled on a great product for arthritis and that is a huge problem for so many people, I am sure it will be of interest when I write my review.

We are also waiting for some career news soon and I hope to have some big announcements.

Like Alaska, Inclement weather helps Canada and the UK turn our great writers!

I hadn't thought of that but it's an interesting point! Thanks Mike.

A beautiful post, my dear Jessica! I have missed your shining face! I love your explicit descriptions here! Very calming and soothing. I'll be praying for your health and well being. I hope you've gotten the rest and care you've needed lately. Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you around again soon! Keep your mind on what you've accomplished thus far, and not on what you haven't! xoxo

Erin :)!

Thanks Erin! Right now I am getting presents wrapped for my husband for the 6 year anniversary of our engagement tomorrow. I love any excuse to give presents and our engagement is very special to me.

I love that it is still light out at 11:00 even though we have this storm! I just love the summer light. It is hard to go to bed when the sun is still shining at 11:00 or 12:00 though! I guess that is why the storms feel relaxing in summer...it is a break! It isn't dark but a lot darker than normal for this time of year and everyone isn't out and about and making noise.
