Another Update For My Friends

This won't be a technical brief on some new discovery or great success online. My website is still producing traffic and sales so I am making a bit on Amazon. I still get my monthly WA referrals so all is well on that front. Nothing earth-shattering to report. I have not done anything on my sites since I posted here last time. I have a pretty good list of reasons though! :) I have been posting WA links to Twitter again however in hopes of snagging another WA referral.
We seem to have found a tenant for the vacancy in our building and he is ready to pay even before the 1st so no lapse in rent! Yayyyyyy! He is Air Force and should be a great tenant though he may be re stationed in 6 months. That is a chance we will take under the circumstances however.
We have NOT rented either of the units in the other building we manage. This is disappointing since I pushed to try to get one rented by April 1st. We have many ads out but I decided to post to Facebook Marketplace as well. We noticed that most of the inquiries we had received had been from Facebook though we had not posted to Facebook. Facebook somehow gets ads re posted from other rental sites. So I decided to go straight to the source and just post there. I got flooded with interest. I had about 15 inquiries from that ad. The problem was that as my husband pointed out, we better run them through Court View to see if they have criminal history (even if you don't pay for (and get their consent) to run a full background check, you can run someone through the local Court system page and see if they have had court appearances in the local area. Of course that doesn't mean they are guilty but if someone has a record of violent crimes a mile long then you better be careful and not accept them blindly. In the part of town where this building is located that seems to be an issue.
The first several we checked out had records. The rest did not but the end result was the same. They changed their minds, didn't respond back when I offered to set up a viewing or they were no shows! I also had some inquiries from other ads but they didn't meet our qualifications. All in all, not a single showing from the flurry of interest.
Maybe it is just as well. I was so busy with my job, being sick AGAIN with something that is making me ache from head to toe, renting our vacancy, taking care of our God daughter again last weekend, working on the other building etc. that I am totally worn out!
Yesterday I spent two hours dealing with getting the coin op laundry boxes drilled out and replaced and today new windows are being installed. I have not even got around to appealing the FEMA decision for earthquake damage or finishing taxes.
So, not much good news to report but I am still here. I am not very active but I have not dropped off the face of the earth.
I am also making progress on figuring out that my eye conditions must be caused by auto-immune or thyroid conditions. The evidence is mounting.

Nice update although some were not great. The thing about being busy is that busy people always get it done. If you had only one issue or 20 you push through, which is why you are and will continue to be successful, and truly enjoy the fruits of your labor. You will get further rest soon. I have hashimotos Autoimmune related to Thyroid and it is a daily process of keeping myself healthy and happy.
I am learning more and more how my many issues are related to the auto-immune and thyroid issues. It is a struggle though since my thyroid levels were always "normal" so no one took it seriously. I have large thyroid tumors however. They just wanted to remove them but didn't look any further. I learned over the years that other things I have can cause that (active Epstein Barr) and with my naturopathic doctor's advice, didn't let them remove my thyroid after all.
One of these days I hope you get to post a long post that is full of nothing but good news. Your battle is becoming epic. Hope you find some good renters (leasers) soon.
Thanks as always Fran. I JUST posted another post here with a bit of good news. I just saw I have another featured snippet. I did nothing to get this, it just rose up the ranks on it's own. It is an old post from several years ago. I have had a number of old posts rising up to the surface lately. I guess my flurry of activity on my sites earlier this winter is paying off!
I am also excited to be making some progress on the health issues. I am seeing more and more how they are all tied together. I need to see if I have been tested for the HLA B27 antigen and if I have not make sure I do. It causes many of my problems.
Good, good, and good. Yes, I am very glad you have some positive things mixed in with all your trials and hard labor. Seems to me you two just have a lot of LIFE that you are living. Not too fun now, but you are working through roadblocks that will benefit you later.
I hope so. We sure feel behind the curve in some ways. My husband is still trying to get a good job that pays what it should and I just realized I was already 14 when my Mom was my age! We don't even have kids yet. Everyone says we "need" to. They just don't understand how hard we struggle to get by. I am a firm believer that adoption of an older child is the way we will go someday. They get so overlooked and that is what I am more interested in anyway. Everyone wants a baby (just like everyone wants the kittens and puppies and not the adult pets). Hopefully that is the best path for us. Some people relate better to young kids and some to older anyway. I try to take comfort in that when everyone is harassing us about babies. They can try losing their eyesight and having a hard time walking while working and doing multiple side jobs to pay the bills and then see how they feel about babies. For some people it doesn't matter and that is great if it is the right path for them. For me it just isn't. It is hard when they act like we are just selfish though. I don't think it is selfish I think it is responsible.
I agree -- responsible -- and adopting an older child seems like a really good thing to do. There are so many children that could really use some good parents and a genuine chance at life. I think you'd be offering a great service by doing so.
By the way, I just adopted an older "child"...I brought home a 13-yer-old cat today from the shelter in Juneau. The cat and I have been friends for some time, but he recently landed in the shelter. He's a sweet cat, and I feel he deserves to end his life on a less stressful note.
I do believe he is glad to be here. Since we got home about mid-afternoon, he has followed me around, sat next to me, no matter where I was, and purred. Right now he is sitting on the desk next to the computer, purring his sweet black head off. He must be happy to be here, as close as he has stuck to me.
I think we'll go to bed and cuddle now.
Ooooh, that makes me so happy to hear you adopted the new baby! How wonderful!! Our 14 year old is now 15! I can't believe we have had her a year already and she is as spry as ever. I just saw her vault several feet straight up and over one of the other cats. She is in amazing shape! She is so sweet and is truly happy to be here and be loved. She likes to sleep near my head at night and she cuddles Aaron by putting her head under his chin and snuggles up and purrs.
I hope you and your new buddy and happily sleeping right now! You must be enjoying having him around.
Yes. I am very pleased. Last night he slept with me all night, in the place where Carlos used to sleep -- on the other pillow. I wonder if Carlos got in touch with him and clued him in? Anyway,he seems to be adopting well so far. Right now he's asleep in the bedroom, this time on MY pillow...lol...

Jessica, sometimes the situations get worse before they get better. I know this was true in my case. I never thought things would work out. But with time everything was worked out. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Wow, Jessica. You certainly are busy. I'm sorry to read about your health issues. I was aware you had some problems with your health, but not aware of so many issues.
It's great that you have the time and energy to do so much. Very often challenges are what keeps us going.

Thanks Valerie. It is a struggle but I always manage somehow! I will try. We have to have the tenant move into our unit this weekend (so need to get a few things finished like draw up his lease, do the walk through and wash the windows) and have our God daughter's 2nd birthday.
You are amazing, Jessica how you cope with all you do.
I know you will enjoy your little God daughter's birthday. A special time with family and friends.
