I'm getting this message on WordPress (new updates).

"The following themes have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then

The update won't affect any of that. It's referring to direct editing of theme files. You should always keep themes and plugins up to date.

Yes, I do mine manually, and if there are any issues you can contact site support.

Thank you!

You have some great advice and guidance here…I hope it all works out for you!

-Mike

If you’ve made edits to the theme’s code files then they would be lost. But if you’ve just created menus and built out your theme like you’re shown in the training the update won’t affect that. Your site is also backed up daily here at WA so even if something did happen you could just revert back without issue.

You should update to the latest version of Wordpress. I've never had any problems when updating.

Thank you!

This morning I noticed none of my images are showing if you view my website on a desktop computer.

If you view my website on a cell phone, you can see the images.

I'm getting this message on Wordpress (new updates).

"The following themes have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then click “Update Themes”.

Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications."

It won't let me decline the update. I'm afraid if I update it, all my menu items and customizing will be lost.

You have some great advice and guidance here…I hope it all works out for you!

Thank you!

Those are extras in addition to the first two suggestions.

Check if any plugins or scripts on your website might be blocking the images from displaying. Try deactivating plugins one by one to see if that resolves the issue.

Check for any errors in your browser's developer console when you view the website on a desktop computer. This could provide clues about what is causing the images not to display.

Check if there are any issues with your website's responsive design that might be causing the images not to display properly on desktop computers. Try adjusting the CSS or layout to see if that resolves the issue.

Thank you for the quick response. It was a cache issue.

You're welcome :)

Hey Susan,

Your laptop is showing a previous version, referred to as a cached version!

So, you simply need to "clear your cache".

While on your article on your laptop you can press

CTRL and F5

buttons together and the "new" version of your article will appear.

You can also clear your website cache here at WA.

Go to WEBSITES at the top of the page, then select SITE MANAGER, then locate your website, on the right-hand side click on SITEPLUS, then scroll down and you'll see CLEAR CACHE.

You may have a cache situation, or your images is not in your library.

Search Engine Optimization

What optimizer are you using for your website? I need something to clean unused java scripts.

Thank you.

What plugins are you using? I have Autoptimize, Grow Social, Site Kite by Google, and SEO Framework.

I keep getting a message about JavaScript slowing my load page time.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What do you have for plugins?

Thank you

It depends on your site; no two are the same. Seems great.

Also, as long as the plugins are cleanly coded, it should not be a problem, but, the lesser, the better to keep your site speed performance.

I use Autoptimize - seems to do the trick.

Thank you!

I'm curious as to what program others are using to create videos. Please advise if the program is free to use.

Thank you.

Screencast-o-Matic. There's a free version. I upgraded to the lowest cost paid version to get the green screen facility.

Perfect. Thank you!

I use Screencast-o-Matic and you can make videos with just voiceovers or appear yourself. It is so simple to use that i love it. I think it costs me about $20 per year.

Perfect. Thank you.
