OH YES! Big Mistake!

Remember when we were little, and. . .

The summers seemed to go on for years? Christmas was at LEAST three lifetimes away? A hamburger was so incredibly huge there was no way you could eat the whole thing?

How about walking that 6 blocks home from school that went on for miles and miles? Or a 180-page book (with report due!) that seemed as long as "War and Peace"? And your Dad's "Great Uncle" who came to visit? He was SO incredibly old he just had to have known Jesus.

Then we grew up and that clock we knew as children started speeding up. Faster and faster until all of a sudden - seasons, holidays, birthdays, deadlines... all seem to come at us like bullets from a machine gun.

And yet. . . we keep on telling ourselves "we still have time" to put it off one more day. That goal, that chore, that phone call, that written note. It'll be there tomorrow.

Just saying. . .

Good post. I'm terrible about putting things off, or I used to be. Time becomes ever more precious as it slips away!

Also, I scarfed your picture above to use in my website "quotes" page - I'll be adding it here in a few minutes. Check it out if you like!!

Great idea! I checked out your website. It's great! I'm not agnostic, but enjoyed reading your content anyway. Left a comment under the picture, and am so glad you liked it!

Oh yes, I know very well what you mean. The years are racing by so fast now it's hard to believe. Even my KIDS, when they were LITTLE, thought the months and years flew by. They're in their mid 20s now - but it's truly amazing how fast time goes.

I'm also a procrastinator like steveo (Hi, steveo!), but this project has my full interest and attention, which is a good thing.

Then we start to experience "Analysis Paralysis".

I think that's why I'm such a procrastinator, I still seem to have a child's idea of time :)

Hey Patti, sounds a little like an old song. I don't remember the name, about a Boy and his Dad.

Oh yes, I remember that Skip! I think it's "The Cat's in the Cradle" by Cat Stevens?
"When you comin' home, Dad?"
"I don't know when. But we'll get together then."

Very true observations, Patti. Time seems to be passing VERY quickly these days. Ken's right, it's not on our side. I used to say to Ray, "Hey, we'll do that when we get old." One day a few years ago, I started to say that and thought, "Hey, we ARE old!!!" So do it now, make it count, say what you need to say. Time is running short.

HA! John and I have done the same thing, Carla! "Wait a minute - we ARE old! We're retired already!" Hate that part...

I think my great granny knew Jesus..:|..?

lol jk

Oh yes, so did mine. In fact My Grandma Gracie knew Jesus when he was a small boy!! :) I think they played on swing sets together.

This brings back great memories of youth.
And reminds me time is not on my side.
Great post, thank you Patti.

Ken, that's so true! These past few years I've experienced things I didn't think would happen for another decade or more. It really does keep moving... no, not moving - JETTING - along. :0

Patti, if you can just figure out how to stop the clocks, I'm begging you to let me know! lol Sometimes we put things off for so long, it becomes too late. Thank you for the food for thought! :) Michelle

Oh boy, Michelle, and same here! If YOU figure out how to slow that clock down, you let me know! We'll both be millionaires! :)
