SiteContent P-Review

So Kyle and Carson have silently released a new system on the website, called SiteContent. Not sure if it is available to everybody or just to a few, but it looks pretty interesting at least.

The Idea - Write From Within WA

First of all, with this system we do not need to go to WordPress to write content or google docs or MS Word to pre-write content, but can do everything from within WA. That is however only partly true at the moment, because there is still a lot of functionality missing.

The second idea behind it, is that we can learn to write good content and get direct feedback on that from SiteContent, similar to grammarly and other writing style checking sites.I believe the system is going to be tied in with your activity and ranking, but for now you can at least set goals on words per article and articles per period of time.

Setting Goals

For example, if I want to achieve 8 articles in a week time, I set my goal date and goal number of posts. And if I want to write 8 articles in a week time with each consisting between the 800 and 1500 words, I calculate the total of that on average and put that number in on a date in the future.
Remember, you can publish to all your sites, so 8 is perfectly possible in 7 days ;-)

Each day I will get statistics to see how far I have gotten with my goal and how much is still left.

Creating Templates

The system comes with a template saving option. Here I can build up standard articles I'd like to use as template for my future writings. For example I could make a template for reviews and one for standard info articles. In templates I can also set goals for my articles, such as how many words it should contain, how many paragraphs and how many headers. I can pre-define these headers.

Your template then goes to the writing side of SiteContent, so that you can choose from the different templates to start writing. The privacy policy, about me and affiliate disclaimer examples are standard templates in the page list from WA.

When starting to write an article, I can start with a template or write from scratch straight away. You see immediately how many words you have written, how many headers you have used as well as paragraphs. I think we can expect more statistics for writing style very soon.

Current (minor) issues

My frustrations so far:

  • The editor seems to be just as 'bad' as the editor of the WA blogs. I am not sure if that is an issue I have with my browser or whether it is a widely known problem, but when I select content that I want to delete and I click on the delete button, only the first letter gets deleted and the selection de-selects (Deletion in other words, goes per character).
  • When I make a selection to make a piece of text BOLD, the selection does not get bold. Instead the editor toggles Bold on, to start typing text in bold. It means I have to retype all the stuff I want to have bold and delete that what didn't get bold (same with italic, underlined).
  • Adding links does not use the search option as in WordPress yet, so it is simple linking without searching for existing internal links.
  • Links cannot be opened in a new window/tab yet (have to edit it in WordPress afterwards).
  • I cannot set AllinOneSEO/Yoast settings such as Title and Description from within SiteContent
  • I cannot upload and add images
  • I cannot set my featured image
  • I cannot publish content in the past/schedule for the future
  • When you click publish, it is straight away published and live on your website of your choice as either page or post. There is however an option to go straight to your post in WordPress after publishing.

Especially the last one is a bit annoying, so what I do is I publish it, immediately click on "open article in WordPress" and un-publish my post. Than I have all the time to set my preferred settings and publish it when I am ready.

UPDATE: 06/06/17
Concerning the editor in SiteContent/WA blogs:
- CTRL-X removes content still when selected, but DEL button does not.
- CTRL-B for bold, CTRL-I for cursive and CTRL-U for underline seems to sometimes work, and sometimes not work.
- Adding images is coming in a future update says Carson

UPDATE: 07/06/17
The issues with the SiteContent editor have been fixed, meaning you can use the bold, underline, italic, headers, paragraph etc without any problems. Also you can select and delete content.
Images is coming, link in new window is coming, scheduled posts might be coming.
Really great stuff! Thanks Carson!

More To Come...

Ah well, I guess only 1% of the functionality is here, so we just have to wait patiently for the rest to arrive and just continue writing. But it is already awesome!

And WA just keeps getting updated and getting better functionality for that low price we pay. I think it is awesome! Thanks WA! Thanks Kyle and Carson and team!

Thanks for writing this and I am sure it will all come together at some stage! Good stuff as always from WA!

You are welcome Sharon!

Thank you for your information, very interesting :)

You are welcome!

Yes SiteContent looks very promising. We will see how it develops over time, but it is certainly useful as it is right now.

Steven

Thank you for the info regarding the changes

You are very welcome.

Hi there

It will be an asset to us for sure
Cheers PB

You are welcome!

I believe it will be a great asset too.

Steven

This is a very informative and helpful post....to be bookmarked for sure. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. WA really is a fabulous platform. Debbie

Hi Debbie!
How are things?

Yes I agree, this is a great system. Thanks for your bookmarking and appreciation.
I also believe WA has a fantastic platform, but it is the people (community) that keeps it alive!

Steven

Carson just weighed in on this new feature..I can't wait to try it.

This is great news! I'll see if it's available for me yet. I'm sure any kinks will quickly be corrected. Thank you, Steven, for this walk-through.
Sue

Thanks Sue!

It looks very promising at least and it is already very useful.

How are things otherwise?

Steven

Great, Steven! Wealthy Affiliate has become an all-inclusive, one-stop-shop and that is exactly what I was looking for when I joined. This is an exciting new tool and only the beginning phase of it. So much more to come.

I've seen some of the same things. The highlighting of words and not being able to delete or bold them are the two I find most annoying.

Hi Thomas,

Good to know that it isn't just me that has these problems with the editors. I agree, the bold and delete problem is the most annoying. I forget about the problem all the time and then wonder why the thing occurs. Suddenly I remember again..oh.. yeah.. doesn't work here. shit.

Ah well.. hope they pick it up and fix it someday.

Steven

A lot of good info here. Im sure it will be great once completed

This is a new addition I have not seen it before. Study it thoroughly and give more feedback

I will do. Thank you. Maybe I will even create a tutorial about it.

Wow! That's new to me! I didn't see that one yet! I will give through the baton!

Thanks Loes. Just updated the post to make it even more clear where the new functionality is located (new picture).

Try it out, it's pretty amazing new stuff (if you have it that is).

Steven

YES! That one I was missing on your post, I searched the whole premises to locate it! Thanks!

You are welcome!
