QR Codes
Hello WA Community:
I have been experimenting with QR Codes today to try and develop a QR Code that points to my WA site. It has been on my list for a while now to create this and place it in my email signature, YouTube channels, etc.
I have tried a number of QR Code generators. They are numerous and free on the internet. The one I used to create the QR Code below is can be accessed here:
There were many different colors, styles, rounded corners vs square corners, and yes, you can put your logo or site icon in the middle of it. I wanted to pass this information to others here at WA so you can do the same and help promote your branding. Also if you can provide me with feedback and even test it out on your Smartphones to see that it does indeed work. I want to make sure it works with the different phone types and carriers.
Thank you everyone!

Yep, worked really good. Got the info with the url and clicked right thru to your site. I hadn't noticed til I opened my QR code scanner that I can actually generate a QR code within that program on my phone. Something I might consider.
HI Broderick!
Thank you for checking it out and that is cool to know that you can generate a QR code right from your phone using the application. I did not get that option with my phone. Many thanks for sharing. What kind of phone do you have if I might ask you?
Steph
Thank you Broderick. I appreciate the additional information. Your help is super wonderful.
I have a Nexus 5, but I'm sure it has more to do with the free bar code scanner app. It's an Android phone. I use Credo for my service which actually uses the Sprint network. Credo is kind of a rebel outfit, activists, donating a small portion of there take to nonprofits and left wing political crackpots that think it's a good idea to eliminate bribery from politics. I tend to think along those lines as well.
Hi Step
Just came across your post , don't know how I misted it but I am very excited this is good stuff . Where can we sign up for your fan club thank you very much for sharing this .
Alexander
Hi Alexander:
You are welcome and thank you for all the kindness. I recommend this particular QR code even though I know Google has one too because it has more features that you can build in with your QR code.
I have a cheap Huawei smartphone too and mine did not work, but I was told by others that it worked on theirs. And that is why I wanted to do this blog to see if it would work on the majority of cell phones, because I have a crappy Huawei Android. I need to upgrade. :(
my Samsung S6 is waiting in the shop, just the change of provider is holding hem there form me! :-)
Hi Stephanie. I just tried scanning the code. That is really awesome. It scanned really fast and now I have a new contact added to my iPhone. Sweet!

Hi Stephanie. I used the "QR Code Reader" app (Android) on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It read it immediately and asked, Add Stephanie Hill to contacts? It also had your website name in the organisation section of the address book. It took 3 seconds max. to do it's stuff.
I tried another QR reader and it would read off my laptop screen. What a great idea.
Thanks for the tip.
Duncan
You are certainly welcome Duncan. And thank you for the thoroughness of checking it out. I needed to know because I have an older Huawei Android smartphone and I did not get it to work. So many thanks.

Great stuff Steph. Yours works fine for me so I went off and made my own!
Tom
You are welcome Tom. I like the particular QR code generator I created because you can put your own picture or whatever logo you want to help create a branding image to your online presence.
