I found that when a page has a different language there is a little icon that appears above the "$" and the "Airplane" {top right area} that gives the option to "Translate This Page."

I never noticed it before. I tried to add an attachment with a picture of it, but it was too small.

WA software automatically, translates other languages to English.

Now, I need help answering Marco's question. Please help me help him or help him directly. Thanks everyone. 😊

I am on Level 3 Lesson 8 and AdSense has denied me twice. Can I move on to lesson 9 without adding adsense to my site?

When I joined I had Adsense on my site, I made very little from it. Unless your site has tons of traffic, Adsense will be of no value. I removed it because it severely slowed down my site, and it also looks spammy when there’s too many ads. You can certainly move on with the training without Adsense.

Hey Cynthia,
After having Adsense on my site for a short time I noticed some very disturbing factors.
First of all, to me personally, the ads that Google displayed were a total distraction from the content of my website. The ads were not relevant to the topic at all. It's like they just want to use your site for their own advertising purposes and are not concerned that their ads are like a big black eye on the face of the website that you created.
Some of the ads that they placed on my site were covering up some of the text in the content that I had written. To me, comparatively speaking, it is like Google was throwing mud on a Rembrandt painting :) .lol.
Disabling Adsense eliminated quite a bit of "messy" and restored more of a focus on the message of the content.
Just something you may want to keep in mind :)

Rick

Thank you Rick, I did not want AdSense but it was a task in my lesson and I did not know if I would need it in future lessons. I think I will take the advise of WA community.

Thank you for sharing experience, I will keep it in mind.

Hi - you may be interested to know, that the ads are targeted to the visitor and their latest Google searches. Not to the content of your site as you might expect. In fact, every visitor will more than likely see different ads. For example, if I had recently been searching on Google for car insurance, then those are the type of ads I will see on your site, regardless of what your website is actually about.

Oh wow, that is great information Diane - Thank you. Now I know.

Hey Diane :)
I didn't realize that was the case. Thanks for educating me in that area. I will keep that in mind for future consideration.
To me though, the ads were quite a distraction. Made everything look messy.

I did remove them from one of my sites, as it was far too pretty to be cluttered with ads, and it slowed my site down.

Google Adsense is only one of the many Advertising Networks available for website/blog owners. And placing Ads on your website/blog is only one of the many way to monetize it. So the answer is definitely yes. I am at a level 5 of the WA training program and I don't have any ADs on my website yet. Maybe I will approve for AdSense when I have already 80 posts on more. Maybe I'll never apply. Just keep adding content to your website and learn about affiliate marketing... monetization will come naturally!

Great advise Horatio, my main concern was to complete all tasks within each lesson.

You are on level 5, so I guess there is nothing in future lessons that requires me to have ads. Right?

That's right. Ads are not the primary focus here at Wealthy Affiliate. Kyle mentions them in the training to let you know they are an additional way to monetize your website but your focus should be creating great content that ranks in search engines and looking for products and services you can promote within your niche through affiliate marketing. I currently have 13 articles on my website, two affiliate links and no ads. So don't even worry about AdSense.

Great advise, Thanks I will keep that in mind.

Like you and others on this thread, I was disapproved because they don’t have time to review my blog. I just moved on.
I have noticed google ads on other people’s sites and truthfully, I am happy they didn’t approve me yet.

Not having the ads means that people will not click away from my site. I don’t make any extra income by not having them, I know. But, I think everything that happens is the best thing that can happen at this time, so I don’t resist... I just accept it in good faith.

Maybe in the future I will take this path again and maybe then the time will be right.

To our success,
Greg

Thank you Greg for sharing your story with me. It makes me feel better about postponing the two task that asked me to use AdSense.

Andy told me about Media.net. I am going to try them before going to the next lesson. If that works for me I will be able to move on without skipping any task.

Hi Cynthia
I was faced with the same problem and carried on waiting there for weeks. Every time I checked Google Adsense told me to wait until they basically said they are experiencing delays due to coronavirus and don't know when they will clear the backlog.
I suggest you register with Media.net
https://www.media.net/
They also provide contextual ads and the signup and approval process takes only a few days. What I like about them is that the ads themselves appear as links with interesting titles and don't look like hard sell. I must prefer that for my site as I am trying to make it as informative as possible with only discrete, relevant and tasteful ads.
If you do go this route then when you are approved they will send you a code that needs to be inserted into the header of your site. I don't think we are able to do that so just send to WA Site Support and they will take care of it pronto - as they always do.
I hope this helps and let me know what you decide to do and whether you find something else that works. etc.
Best regards
Andy

I will give Media.net a try - Thanks Andy for an alternative to use in place of Google AdSense. I will let you know the outcome.

Good luck Cynthia, I have Media.net set up for the bottom of all my posts and home page and they are all different. Attached is what they currently look like or follow this link and scroll to the bottom of the home page.

Thank you again Andy for this great info. 😊

Wow Andy, your website is awesome. It is not something I am familiar with but it did bring back great memories looking at the pictures of Calculus Equations and Binary Code.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your kind words Cynthia.
One thing that always struck me as strange on this WA site is I haven't found an easy way to see someone's website. If there is a link on their profile or something I haven't found it. I end up wading through posts in the off chance of finding a link. I think I have seen your site before, and I may even have book marked it but I can't remember.
Have a great day
Best regards
Andy

Hi - if a member chooses to share their website, they can add it to their profile by adding a link on the Follow Me section, but you have to be in their network to be able to see it.

I will find a place on my profile to add it. That is a good idea.

Thanks Diane.
I just added an update to my profile and included a link to the homepage of my site. Now you mention it I should probably go back and put a link in the follow me section.
Thanks again
Andy

Level 3 Lesson 3 - requires to join two affiliate networks. After I have entered all my information it ask me to send a picture of me holding my ID. Should I do that?

Never been asked to present my Id or photo of me holding the Id!
to any Affiliate network or platforms
in said so I will not join a company that collects private Id!
(even when you join some cryptocurrency platform like bitcoin, etch they will not ask an Id and only when you want to get some money out from your investment then they require an Id and a few other documents as this law is been put in place by the government to stop money laundering etch)

have a good day

Cynthia I have just one question, if they asked you for your ID would you send that to them? Think it over, if so why not a picture of you holding it? It's only a verification stage for that business. I don't see this as being suspicious at all, a lot of companies today want to be sure of who they are dealing with that is all. Let's not blow this out of proportion and let suspicion start running amok, apply some common sense to this request, who is asking for the information? Are they legitimate? Answer those questions with a level head and then respond appropriately.

Joe

Thank you Joe for being the "sore thumb". I just felt uncomfortable with the thought of me giving out personal information. The only thing they would have been getting is my driver's license number because I had already entered most of the other information on their website.

My final thought, I am glad I made the decision to seek another affiliate company.

You could also "black out" your DL#, Cynthia! I'm like you though--super leery!

Jeff

Thanks Jeffrey - I am good. I found another company to replace that one.

Hello Cynthia.
Absoluty not. I've joined a few affiliate programs and have never had to send a picture of myself. Keep looking.
Be safe.
Mike

I'm with everyone else. I never have had to do this. Sounds fishy to me.

Laura

Hi when I signed up for amazon and the Awin networks I didn't need to send any ID.
