Be Grateful for WAs Anti-Spam Rules

Sometimes we don’t fully appreciate the good things in our life. Wealthy Affiliates anti-spam rules as an example. Wealthy Affiliates anti-spam rules are designed to allow us to be able to learn and interact with each other without getting bombarded by advertisements and/or service offers. I didn’t realize how nice the lack of advertising was until I visited a forum where there were not any anti-spam rules.

Last weekend, I was reading some articles and blog posts on a very popular e-commerce shopping platform’s site. The blog posts featured and many of the featured questions were great. However, it seemed like 50 percent or more of the responses and comments were from people offering their company’s services as a solution to a “problem.”

These people seemed to genuinely feel like their services could help the store owner that asked the question. They often wrote detailed explanations of why and would follow up to subsequent questions and comments. Yet, I felt like spending time on that forum was like spending time at a car dealership.

In the United States, if you go to a car dealership, there are commissioned sales people watching your every step waiting to pounce even if you just want to look around. In my opinion, the sales pressure at car dealerships makes purchasing a car feel like a task rather than something your enjoy doing. After reading a few of the posts and articles on that e-commerce platform’s site, I realized how much I appreciate Wealthy Affiliate’s anti-spam policy. It is nice to be able to learn and interact with other WA members without being subjected to a lot of sales pressure.

What are WA's "No Spam Rules?"

I'm sorry for the delay in responding. Lunatic was nice and shared the link. Basically, we can not be using WA to advertise other websites or services.

It is extremely frustrating to read an educational post or discussion if you have to figure out who is giving a good answer or who is advertising their services.

Such a great point about WA that a lot of us forget about. One of the many things that make it so nice to be part of this community. Thank you for the reminder. shary

Thanks for mentioning it. Here on WA it's easy to forget how nice it is not to have ads all over the site. It makes working so much enjoyable.

Thanks for bringing this up Sondra. It's something I think we take for granted here at WA sometimes. I know I do, but when I think about it, this would be a much more unpleasant and annoying place if these ant-spam rules weren't in place.

Sondra,
I agree that it doesn't happen often at WA, which is a very good thing.

I agree with everything that you said, Sondra. Still, there have been a few occasions that I personally experienced in which members here at WA, (undoubtedly new) tried to hit me up with oily sales pitches.

I just kindly reminded one person that such a thing is absolutely not allowed here at WA. With the second individual who became a little persistent I just reported it as spam. A simple task and I never heard from that individual again.

Every now and then veteran WA members have posted articles, as you did Sonda, reminding those offending people of the specific WA rule that they are breaking when trying to twist the arm of another member through a sales pitch.

Quite simply the final outcome could mean their membership being permanently revoked if they continue to violate this rule.

I have always believed that all new members should be tasked with both reading all of WA's rules as established by Kyle and Carson and then signing some type of acknowledgement which would indicate that they are fully aware of what is and is NOT allowed here within the community.

I agree, hadn't thought much about that until reading your post.

Anti spam rules are a great form of preemptive ad blockage. Thanks for this Sondra. BTW I was looking at a great picture display on the arrival of spring in the Colorado Rockies. You live in a great area!

Learning is so much better when you aren't constantly reminded that everyone is in it for themselves.

We are here to learn not capitalize on the other members.

thanks for sharing
