Your WA Rank
Hi everyone.
Lately I have heard so much going on with how people are ranking in WA.
I feel it is time for some honest talk about this topic.
First and foremost, your WA rank is just a gauge of how much you are involved with the WA community.
This rank does not mean you are an expert in anything going on here, or that you are a go to person for advice and such. This kind of attention comes from building trust in others.
Those of you who are just answering posts and questions, reviewing website, helping in chat are on one hand valuable assets for WA, but my question to you is are you being an asset to yourself?
If this helps any of you I will tell you how I got to the rank I have today.
I came from working at AOL and writing training modules and live training sessions for the chat hosts there, ( yes, the guys that could and would ban the bad guys learned how to do it from me, lol ) and so when I found out I could write them here to help others I was all in on that, and that is what I do here when I have time. I make a commission on writing these so please click the like when you view my tutorials. ( Had to plug that, :) )
I also help out in chat when I can and I set aside an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening to help others by email, PM, blogs, and chat. I do this because when I came here I had an idea of what marketing was all about but the people who took the time to teach me in chat and PM and blogs are the ones who are responsible for my success so far in my online business, along with of course the owners.
BUT< my main goal here is to build my business and that is my primary concern, and in doing that my rank becomes important to me here at WA as I use that as a selling point and for leverage in my boot camp efforts.
I do not, will not, can not, or do I have the time to sit here and help people all day and answer posts and PMs just to up my rank, and if any of you are doing that, please get back to work and Just Build It Now........ hey, that would be a good name for a website :P

Thank you Shawn. I haven't been too concerned about my rank but your message here is helping many people, and that is what I like to do (or try to do).
So true! I think when you start out at WA and you see your rank gradually improve it can become a little addictive... then, if you've got any sense, you remember why you're here!
So true,and there is nothing wrong with upping your rank, but lets all do it while we are working on our businesses.
The KEY thing you said was... to BUILD YOUR Business. Personally I don't care about RANK. It does not help me in any way and it does not put one dime in my pocket. I am not sure the AOL reference helped you any... in the Industry they did not have that high a viewpoint... not like IBM or an Oil company...lol.
LOL< true. At least I did learn how to teach a group at AOL, that helps me here in ways I would have never imagined.
My head would be pretty blank when it comes to the idea of creating a training, Im even pretty behind at the WA bootcamp stuff, instead I just concentrate on my niche. Im not too worried about my rank, I do like to socialize here and answer questions, it also passes a bit of time when my brain is fried from working on my site. It does irritate me a little that people go as far as going to very complex questions and say stuff like "I dont know" or "im sure someone will help you soon" just to get rank points, if you dont know the question just leave it alone, by doing this they are also taking the question away from the unanswered section which may make it hard for the question asker to get an answer
Very good point you make on taking the question out of the unanswered questions section. Never really thought about that.

Spot on Shawn, as always your blogs are very interesting and to the honest/true point,. Im guilty of the above . Not only have i just been answering posts but i have also been waisting a lot of valuable time on FB . Its taken me some time to get use to all the emails and to see how people think and approach various aspects here at WA !. Its high time, and i mean really high time that i now get on with my own online marketing effort............and make my dreams come true ! Even though the internet is new to me , my engine has just fired up and its full throttle all the way into the blue wonderfull yonder.........will call apon you when i get stuck , wish me luck, Take care, Johan.
You are a great help here Shawn, I'm one of the people you've helped. I agree working on the business is the primary goal, having said that, I enjoy the interaction here, getting help and giving help, I'm still at the stage where other people's questions and blogs help me with my primary goal.
