I Am Going Viral on Facebook!
Today IS a day for greatness! And weirdness!
So, I got my monthly reports from Google Analytics for September for my three websites, so I went on over there for a second and found I had over 12 visitors CURRENTLY on my website and my visitors for today was over 300! All of them coming from Facebook.
I was like, what... the heck. They were all going to the same page and most were mobile. The name of the post is 9 Best Books About Cats in 2019. Okay? The title is relevant to the story, I promise. It was actually just a short post I did because I was really lazy that week and wrote a 5k word article just the week before and figured I my readers could use a break.
So this article is BARELY 1,000 words and was done because I really loved this book I read about rescuing kittens by an internet famous kitten rescuer. She's actually on the list twice, which includes the number one spot, because I really, really loved it.
So I did a Facebook search for the title of my blog post that was getting so much traffic. I found out that the author of that book I loved so much, who has legions of fans, posted a link to the page on her Facebook page an hour ago (as of 7:30pm). An HOUR and I've got over 300 views on this one freaking page.
Now, most of those aren't going to convert or anything, because these are people who love kittens and this internet celebrity and my site isn't kitten geared towards cuteness and is still very new with not a lot of content. YET. They are simply going over and checking out what books I have on the list to see her listed. That said, just WOW!
One hour. Over 300 hits.
Crazy! I'm curious how she found it as it isn't exactly high in Google or anything as it's only a week or so old.
That said, one little "I was too lazy to make a real post" post and I went mini-viral on FB. Crazy! Shows you exactly the crazy stuff people want to share online. ^_^ (Keep in mind my site is only a bit over 3 months old. 300 visitors in one day is INSANE).
Today is a good day for me and my barn cats!

She is likely using a tool to alert her when the name of the book is posted online ...
There is a free Google Service called Google Alerts which allows you to enter a string and you will be notified by email, any time that string appears in a new post! It has been shown to be less than 100% accurate but can help to notify when you need to track the usage of specific data like a book title!

I know it's either Google Alerts or Talkwalker alerts. I prefer Talkwalker alerts myself. And it's pretty accurate if you know how to enter search queries exactly. Like I have one for "feral cats" + (birds or wildlife). That said, if they use a synonym instead of the word you're looking for, it becomes a problem.
Uh, what is your niche and what exactly are you searching for? Because I've been using it awhile and never had this problem. Lol
Thanks. It's only mini-viral, but a jump of nearly 450 visitors in two hours for my site is huge!
WOW. YAY. that is brilliant congratulations on your progress
Here's to making it happen.
WOW, viral with your magic post on Facebook.
It just goes to show.
Keep up the great work you are doing
Jennifer
It's only a mini-viral, but still! It's viral that I got more visitors in one day than I got all last month! ^_^;
Thanks so much!
Celebrate all mile stones because it is all down to you taking action.
You are most welcome
Jennifer
Congratulations Rochelle!!!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome.
I had something like that happen once...several years ago. A cat magazine linked to a post I put on Flipboard. I had 1,400 visitors in one day. It didn't happen again though.
The way you are going I bet this will happen again for you. You are doing really well! You must be on the right track.
Good job!
Jessica
Awww, thanks so much! Today has been great for my site. First contacted by a known-brand and now this? Crazy! Love it. ^_^
Right!? I didn't even let her know or anything because I haven't got a site old enough with enough content yet to be a 'resource' in cat rescue world. Yet, anyway. Pretty nifty!
