Be Yourself On WA – Not Just An AI Parrot
In this video blog post, I want to talk about being you and being about you! Normally, it's the other way around, we should be looking to help others, rather than talking about ourselves. We are all learning at Wealthy Affiliate and it's something that we should always be doing. When we blog on the platform, it should be about our achievements and failures, and struggles, not something that AI has written.
The reason I created this post was recently I was reading Eric's post, you can see the link below.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/ericcantu/blog/inside-wa-just-be-yourself-and-write-no-ai-needed
And, Shakida, also had a similar post, which again you can see below.

Have a look at my video and feel free to comment.
Have a great day.

Hát off. Yeh, dont rely on AI do it yourself. The human connection is stronger than any program.
Stevoi
I think so, Steve, don't get me wrong, AI can be a great helper, but there are times when we just need to use our personal experience. Wealthy Affiliate is a fine example of where this comes in.
I hope you're doing well.
I appreciate you commenting on my blog post.
Roy
That's so true, Steve, it makes a huge difference!
People are getting fed up with AI content!
I trust that you are doing well.
Enjoy your weekend.
Roy
Hey Roy,
I didn't even know you can share all kinds of personal stories here, I thought it must be helpful content related to business and WA struggles, etc. That being said, I could write here about any personal struggles, not necessarily directly related to online business?
In that case, I will have a lot to talk about when I upgrade. For example, how certain personal experiences influence our productivity, and overall success of our online businesses. Well, that would make it kind of relevant and related then, right?
I fully agree with you on the AI matter. However, when it comes to our website blogs, social media posts, YouTube videos, etc. we almost always use AI to write the rough drafts/scripts, and then change it into completely "human-written" content, add our voice and personal touch, edit where needed, and Bob's your uncle. You won't know it is done with AI, and it contains humor, emotion, and so on.
You will soon see my WA blog posts and videos, the videos are done completely with AI, though. I am not comfortable on camera at all, for several reasons. There is no way that I can show my face on camera at this moment, it is really hard to explain. All our YouTube channels have been extremely successful, regardless of AI faceless channels... be bring a plethora of truly high-quality content that the viewers/readers want on YouTube.
Soon (and a few of us are already there), we will learn how to prompt the AI to do as EXACTLY we want, as we continue to read, re-read, re-prompt until we get down to the goal: human voice.
I feel like most people still fight AI instead of them using it as what it is, a tool, not a competitor.
Anyway, I don't want to fight those people as a result. I want to use AI and still try to create exactly what I want because whether we like it or not, it's the new technology.
John
Good morning Hein,
Thank you for taking the time to comment, it's appreciated.
I see the blogging at Wealthy Affiliate as somewhere to share our thoughts about our online journey, whether it's good or bad. However, I do believe that it should be related to our online business. I appreciate that it's a very friendly platform, so there may be occasions when someone has suffered a loss of someone close, or something similar, where it's appropriate to share. But we don't want to make the platform like Facebook!
I think that would be an excellent thing to do, Hein, when you upgrade. I think personal experience can be very helpful, we just need to keep it on point and related to Internet marketing, etc.
To be fair, I have probably only replied using an AI comment on this platform, a couple of times. This is probably where someone needed an explanation of some software, which AI could explain better than I could. But for me, when I'm replying to a question or a blog post, I want to answer personally. Also, by the time I have written the prompt into AI and then adjusted it, I feel I could have written it better and more personally than what AI can.
I was replying to a member the other day about AI content, and they were saying they made it their own, but I could very clearly see it was AI. I'm not saying they hadn't changed it, but I can very much see some AI isms in their content.
I think this is something that most people suffer with, Hein, I think most of us have been there. I actually don't normally show my self fully on the screen, I just have a small picture of myself in the corner of the screen, as you can see. That's because more often than not, I'm sharing my screen.
I also know that faceless channels do work, so I think it just depends on the channel. However, I believe that overall and it does depend on what you are doing, a channel showing its face would, on average, probably do better. I like to see I'm dealing with.
But also, different things work for different people, which I fully understand!
I know that you have told me that you use AI to help you comment and create content, but once again, we need to make it our own, as you do. I can see the AI isms in AI content, in general!
This comment is 100% human!
Have a great day.
Roy
You. Will. Never. Upgrade. 🤣
At this point it would be a major letdown. I personally want to see you be the first 10 year free starter. 👍🏼💯
This is exactly where I see the problem, John, you think you're getting a human voice and making it your own. I just looked at a couple of your blog posts, I can immediately see that it's AI, yet you think is your own voice, it's not!
This is not a dig at you, John, but I think we need to realise that Wealthy Affiliate blog posts need to be our very own personal experience. We need to put AI down and talk about about our genuine experiences on the platform.
I believe you could probably use AI a lot easier on your own blog, but here on the Wealthy Affiliate platform, we are really talking about genuine personal experiences, there's a big difference. Do you understand where I'm coming from, as I'm trying to help?
Have a great day and thank you for commenting.
Roy
Hey Roy,
Oh no, I would never use AI to make comments or respond to comments. I don't have such a bot anyway. I type quite fast and there is no need to be so dramatically robotic.
I fully agree with you on commenting totally manually, it would defeat the purpose of having a human touch and making good connections. I only ever use AI to draft longer articles and YouTube/video scripts (for the text part) and then completely change them. We also use AI voiceovers, but it is my very own voice.
Sometimes we use AI avatars, of which I also have my own clone. This is especially important when making our online courses. We also sometimes throw in other avatars to mix it up a bit with variety. It is important to choose well as some look more natural than others.
Hey Eric,
I have been a paid member for quite a long time here before. What other purpose would I have here if I don't plan to utilize most or at least some of the tools here? I started here around 10 years before you. Unfortunately, I had to change plans for several reasons, personal and business-related.
Besides, I am not the only starter who hasn't upgraded in a while. There are many others, who has been starter members for much longer than me. I hope you had a great birthday and that you got lots of gifts, love, attention, and fun.
🤣 what other 2+ year free starters do you know active daily in the community, Hein? Lol, you’re it.
Mark my words. This comment will be here a year from now with you still in your free starter account 👍🏼💯
Brotha I’m not making fun of you. I’m applauding your activity in a free starter account. 💯
And let’s not kid ourselves about your daily chat activity 🤣 You have a catch phrase, bro, lol
Exactly, John, I agree with you, but let's just be careful how you use AI and use it at the appropriate times.
Roy
Good morning Hein,
As we know, AI is a fantastic tool, but there are times when we just need to reply, with their own words. I must admit I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which is speech to text software, but it does enable me to type or write quickly. However, if you type quickly, that's great!
I hear you, Hein, this is what AI is meant for, an assistant or helper, someone who gives us ideas, etc. As Eric said in his original article, sometimes we just need to use our minds and put AI down for a few minutes, especially when it comes to our experience at Wealthy Affiliate.
It's interesting about the AI tools that you are using, it fascinates me what people are doing with AI videos. I must admit, I wouldn't have a clue where to start, if I wanted to make an AI video! Are you able to say what tools you use, Hein, I'm genuinely interested.
For the types of video, that I create, AI probably wouldn't be suitable, as many of my videos are how to's, etc. However, some of the videos that people are creating with AI are very funny and amazing. On the other end of the scale, if I start to watch a video which is perhaps creating a video about the benefits of Wealthy Affiliate and it's created with AI, I very quickly leave! These videos are almost like using AI writer, but created in video format, in other words, it's not someone's genuine and real experience. They will often start with "let's delve into....!"
Thank you for getting involved in the conversation, I do appreciate it.
All the best.
Roy
Hey Roy,
Sorry for the delayed response, but we have been swamped! We use a wide variety of tools, depending on what type of video we're making. HeyGen, JoggAI, Wondercraft for more polished podcast videos where you have full control over the voices, script, etc. and you can import them from NotebookLM, B-roll platforms for the best clips and images, etc. You can even use your own voice clone.
For How-to videos, we also mostly use AI together with screen recordings and/or presentation slides. You won't be able to tell it's done with AI, because we use state-of-the-art avatar technology on most of our YouTube channels. The scripts are also human-written with emotion, laughing, shouting, whispering, and more.
When I upgrade here, I may show some of the types of videos we make in my vlogs. For some video types, we use more traditional avatars, which can be recognized as AI, but it is deliberate for the promotion of such SaaS platforms/tools.
Good morning Hein,
That's no problem at all, I fully understand, it's good that you are busy.
I find absolutely amazing what these various AI tools can do and the videos it can produce, etc. I must admit all the tools that you mentioned, I haven't heard of, but then I haven't carried out any searches either!
It's amazing that you use AI tools for "How to" videos, but it sounds like you're using AI, in the right sort of way, Hein, which is fantastic. I think that makes a huge difference when the scripts are human written. I know that AI is quickly moving forward, but I have seen far too many videos, which just sound like an AI writer. For example, "let's just delve into Wealthy Affiliate.... I stumbled across this platform, etc! I can't get away from those videos quick enough, that's not a personal Wealthy Affiliate experience.
It comes back to the same old story, using AI with care and in the right way!
That would be a very interesting experiment, Hein, to do on the platform, people would like that.
Have a great day.
Roy
Hey Roy,
It is especially a great invention(s) for people who are not comfortable in front of a camera.
Good morning Hein,
Yes, I can believe that, Hein!
Just for your information, and I may have mentioned this before, but I didn't like being in front of a camera or hearing my own voice, in fact, I couldn't stand it. However, over time, we do get used to things and hearing her own voice and face, etc.
When I'm editing my videos, which I do fairly simple edits, I hear my own voice all the time and I don't think anything of it. Going back a few years, I will not have expected this to happen.
I'm just trying to encourage you, Hein.
Have a great day.
Roy
What if we write "exactly" that with AI? I think the challenge is how to do it, but we can learn/overcome that challenge overtime.
However, I understand the concern, while I also believe the image for this post/video was AI-generated. So, which part of AI should we use, and which one should we not use?
John
Good morning John,
Thank you for your comment, it's appreciated.
Do you know, John, but I'm using AI a lot, but I don't use it to write blog posts on the platform or to comment, as I want to make it very personal, and my own genuine experience.
You are right, John, I asked ChatGPT for the title and to create a suitable title for me, which did. However, the video was all my personal thoughts on why our Wealthy Affiliate blogs have to be about our own personal experience. I believe that on your own personal website, you can use AI more, but you still need to make it your own, otherwise, it just doesn't sound right.
I noticed now in many of the broadsheet newspapers, in other words, the better quality newspapers, I can see AI isms in their writing! There are times when we just have to use our brain and leave AI alone! It's about your personal experience of the platform.
Have a great day.
Roy
Hey, Roy,
I don't use for comments as well, but for structured content, with tips and tricks that actually work because even these are not yet my experiences, others have already found them useful, and they are then worth-sharing.
Thanks for explaining your stand when it comes to AI. Let's make it do what we want. Actually, let's do what we want with it instead. It's a tool, a smart one.
John
Good morning John,
I agree, AI is an incredibly smart tool, it really is great for the heavy lifting. However, there are times when we need to just share genuine experience on the platform, which is something that AI cannot do.
Please don't get me wrong, I use AI a lot and it's speeding up many processes, but sometimes, we just need to give genuine personal experience.
Thank you for commenting on this thread, I do appreciate it.
Roy
Good post Roy and certainly contains a lot of truth.
We have to remember AI is a tool to help us, not replace us totally.
Enjoyed reading it my friend
Thank you, Dave, I appreciate you commenting.
Exactly, I'm using AI a lot, but there are some things where we just have to use our brain to bring over our true personal experience on the platform.
Have a great day.
Roy
How can you be authentic if AI is writing your stuff?"
I get this question a lot, and I used to think the same thing...
Here's the truth: AI doesn't replace your authenticity – it amplifies it.
When you hire a copywriter, are you being fake? Of course not. You're still the one with the ideas, experiences, and message. The copywriter just helps you express it better.
AI is the same thing, except it's available 24/7 and costs a fraction of the price.
But here's the key: I don't just tell AI "write me a sales email."
I give it MY stories, MY personality, MY experiences. I say things like:
"Write this in my conversational style, include my story about failing three businesses, make it sound like I'm talking to a friend over coffee."
The result? Content that sounds exactly like me, but better organized and more persuasive.
The secret isn't avoiding AI – it's training it to be the best version of you.
Your authentic voice isn't threatened by AI; it's enhanced by it.
Just love AI
Thank you for your comment, Peter, it's appreciated.
Like you, AI is great, and it's such a useful tool, but there are times when we need to give our unique experience, rather than AI's experience. And yes, I appreciate that the more we use AI, the more it gets to know us, however, it still can't quite give that individuality and uniqueness that we need for our Wealthy Affiliate blogs.
I hear what you are saying about hiring a copywriter, Peter, there is very much some truths in that. But I'm actually talking about your personal Wealthy Affiliate experience, it has to be unique. I have seen people using AI to write their about me page, AI can't do that properly, in normal terms. It's something we need to do.
I just had a quick glance at a couple of your Wealthy Affiliate blog posts, straightaway, I can see that they are AI posts. Maybe you have changed them, but once again, we are talking about Wealthy Affiliate posts, which should relate to our personal experience, not AI's experience.
Incidentally, have you read Eric's post, that I posted in my blog post, I can totally relate to what he is saying.
Once again, I appreciate your input, it's great to discuss things.
Have a fantastic day.
Roy
I loved Eric's post as well and I totally agree with him and with you. There are a couple of people who are just churning out daily blogs for two reasons - not, as they claim - to help new members. One of them keeps writing blogs about WA with wrong and outdated information - not even fact-checked. When you pull him up on it, it gives him engagement and more points and earnings on this platform.
The reasons are plainly to 1) use this as an earning platform and 2) get the post indexed in Google and hopefully pick up referrals that way.
Very annoying.
Good morning Isabella,
Thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.
I hear you, Eric's post really resonated with me! I believe that there is a right way and a wrong way to write a blog posts, it should be carried out to help and encourage others and about a genuine online business walk, if that makes sense.
The earnings that people make from writing on the platform are minimal, but they are a little bonus. The idea is that we go through the training and create a real online business that really does make proper money. By sharing our wins, our failures and struggles, we can help others, by helping them not to make the same mistakes as we did. But we keep learning through our mistakes.
I definitely think it's good if referrals can see that we are active on this platform.
Have a great day.
