Inside WA, Just Be Yourself and Write. No AI Needed.
I love AI. I'm on GPT for hours daily.
Literal hours.
Seriously.
That being said, I don't really understand (or very much like) what's going on inside WA with all the straight-from-GPT copy and pasted WA blog posts.
It's painful to read, man.
Legit painful.
Can we normalize not using it?
Like pretty please with a cherry on top for my own sanity.
I get it if people are using their WA blog as a testing ground to see how to use GPT for their writing, but the straight copy and paste makes no sense to me.
There' s no Google algorithm here to judge you or rank you. We're just here with our peers. Asking questions, sharing our victories, ranting about our frustrations (me right now), etc.
These posts and shares should have the feeling of personal journal entries in your journey here to build something real! You want to be able to look back on your WA blog and say "Wow! That's where I was one year ago!" Share your journey and the steps along the way from your own perspective. Take screenshots of what your site looks like so you can remember it years from now. Talk about the aspect of affiliate marketing that you're learning but can't quite wrap your head around just yet and then 5 years from now when you re-read it it'll be like hearing that song from your teenage years that INSTANTLY takes you right back.
You'll be reading your posts and having that same nostalgic warm, fuzzy feeling because you remember writing it!
That's what it's all about and you'll completely lose that if you're just pasting. Trust me.
Write for yourself from a place of sincerity and everyone comes along for the ride.
If you want to use AI as a framework, that's awesome. Now, take what it gives you and make it your own. Make it sound like you. Remove all the obvious AI tells and use it as inspiration to build your writing around. The creativity will probably start flowing and you'll write more than you even meant to. That's perfect!
I don't have any issue with using AI titles or images. The "Here's a Tip I'm Using (And How You're Not)" rhythm AI uses all the time is fine. It's just a title and it gets attention. AI images are legit! Use them! But the content inside should be you. I'm clicking to see what YOU have to say. And so is everyone else.
For your website, AI is key. Let it do the heavy lifting. Go for it. But even there we need to make it our own so we can connect with our audience.
Someone sharing how to use a new tool in their own words from their own experience is so powerful. Those are the WA blogs I love. And they're simultaneously so empty when it's just copied and pasted from GPT.
One person left a comment on one of my Wordpress Wisdoms and didn't even remove the "Here's a great conversational comment you can leave.." text that GPT placed in their response 😂. How lazy can you get?
Is chat next?
Can you imagine how lifeless chat would look here if it's just people copying and pasting AI?
So remember, AI is an incredible tool. EXPLODE your content creation with it, but make it your own. Use it to get the creative juices flowing! Make yourself more efficient and productive than you've ever been!
But don't sell yourself short with your own WA blogs losing the one voice you have.
Be yourself.
Your unique approach is why people like you.
Double down on it, don't mute it. 👍🏼
Note: After publishing this I started using the “Hide Content Like This“ setting when I see WA posts that are just obvious AI (just click the gear icon on every WA post) , and it’s worked like a charm! It’s pushed all the great shares and stories up to the front of my feed and brought a surprising nostalgia-like joy to the interactions that come from it. I honestly I love it! 💯

Thank you for sharing this perspective—it really hits home. Authenticity is what builds real connections, and your reminder to bring our own voice into everything we do is so valuable. AI is an incredible tool, but it’s our unique experiences and sincerity that truly resonate with others. I’m going to keep this in mind as I continue my journey here at WA!

Ah the Inception level slap-back of using AI to comment in the exact post where I’m talking about just writing and being yourself. Nice 💯💯💯
I use AI tools to help organize my thoughts or speed up typing, especially when juggling a lot. But I always try to keep it genuine and make sure the message truly reflects what I want to say. Thanks for being honest—I appreciate the direct feedback!
Question: how would it speed up the typing if you first have to type your response into it so it can give you a reply to use?
Good morning Eric,
This is a great post and something that I feel quite strongly about! Like you, Eric, I use AI to do the heavy lifting, but when it comes to Wealthy Affiliate, it should be about our personal experience on the platform, whether it's a win, a struggle, or whatever.
I used to really enjoy reading some of the top 10 blog posts every morning on Wealthy Affiliate, but now it's just AI trash. When I say AI trash, I mean that it's not personal, it's not someone's experience, it's AI's experience!
Personally, I would try and stop these AI posts, as most of them are just pointless. If I want to know a certain question, I can just go to AI, but if we all blog about our experience and ask questions on the platform, we can genuinely learn from others.
Recently I read a blog post on the platform, which I politely replied to, but I also mentioned that they should have formatted their AI post. It looked like a really long post, but actually it was really short, it just had absolutely massive spaces between sentences, with all the hashtags, Asterix and all the other abbreviations that AI can bring. Despite giving me a reason why, this is just pure laziness and to me very much lowers the tone and the quality of the platform.
As I mentioned, it really needs to be a joy to read the success stories, the struggles, etc and learn and help others, by commenting, etc.
Wishing you a great day Eric and once again thank you for a great post, that I very much feel needs addressing.
Roy
That’s how I feel too, brotha! I added a special note to the end of this post that I’ve been clicking on the gear icon in WA posts that are just pasted AI trash (nice lol) and I go to the “Hide Content Like This” setting and it’s worked like a charm. It doesn’t automatically hide obvious AI content, it just hides that user’s posts from your feed. Now all the real posts are pushed to the front of my feed and it’s so fun reading them again.
Definitely something to try. Kinda makes me look forward to seeing one of those posts cuz I get to ignore it lol Pass it on 👍🏼
Good morning Eric,
Great minds think alike!
But seriously, I used to read some real quality blog posts from Wealthy Affiliate members, they weren't always wins, but many of us could relate to these posts and we could help others and everyone was learning, etc. The AI posts are just rather pathetic and not really what the platform is about.
This is great Eric, I didn't really know this button existed or I didn't realise it would do what you're saying it does. I'm going to give it a try, as when I glanced down the top 10 posts, there's very little that I will read, due to the fact that I know it's going to be AI!
I think you need to make a blog post about that feature, long-term, if these posts do not get traction, it may help to stop them.
Have a great day.
Roy
When people are using AI like that, they’re just in the process of learning it. It’s something most quickly grow out of 👍🏼💯 thanks for chiming in and thanks for the comments, Roy!
Ever since I found that setting it’s like the birds are chirping again! The sky is bluer! The sun is shining! 🤣
I completely agree with you on this, Eric. I have written most of my thoughts already on Shakira's blog who wrote hers being prompted to action by yours. And Alysanna is right. The new points system combined with the ease of churning out blogs written by AI is flooding this platform with blogs. People admit to chasing the points $, and blogs with their resulting comments carry many points.
People will quickly realize it doesn't make sense to post like crazy and get just a few dollars, but it's the constant influx of new people who haven't learned that yet that can make that empty content hard to miss.
Good news, just ignore it and set it to "See less of this" and you won't see that person's posts again in your feed.
Where do I set this? All I know to not see email notifications is to either not get any email notifications about blogs or by unfollowing people. I haven't seen a 'See less of this' option anywhere.
It’s like night and day now. I get to see all the human emotion and shares and it’s so much fun interacting with those again.
I actually kind of look forward to seeing the blatant AI content because I get to add it to my “Hide Content” list lol 🤣🤣
Eric, I think one reason you’re seeing so much AI content in WA posts lately is the point system that came in with the platform update. Now that engagement means points and points mean money, some people just want to get posts out quickly, and AI makes that easy.
I use AI too, but only as an assistant. I spend quite a bit of time editing so it sounds like me. By the time I’m done, I’m not sure I’ve saved much time. The writing might go faster, but the editing slows me right back down.
Like you said, the value is in making it your own. AI can be great for sparking ideas or doing some of the heavy lifting, but it’s the personal voice that keeps people reading and coming back.
Sonia
They'll quickly realize that the points you earn come from likes and engagement, and when you just create empty content it soon gets ignored. 👍🏼
Yeah, maybe… but I’ve actually noticed a bit of a slowdown. Could be the novelty wearing off, or maybe just summertime. When the new system rolled out it felt like there was a surge of posts and people replying left and right. Lately it seems quieter. Could just be me imagining things, but the last couple of weeks definitely feel less busy.
Doesn’t mean there’s less AI being used though. And I was reading some of the comments in this thread — I didn’t even know you could adjust your settings to see fewer posts like that. Good to know.
Thanks, Eric or Batman (seen the live Chat! 😉)
Isn’t that the coolest gif EVER???? lol
So I added a note to the post at the end that I’ve been using the gear icon when I see blatant AI posts and using the “Hide content like this” setting and it’s like night and day. All it does is hide that member’s blog posts from your feed, but in doing that it’s like it pushed all the normal shares and stories to the front. I honestly love it!💯👍🏼

I totally agree Eric, but humans are naturally lazy. Since the beginning of time we've been inventing ways of making life easier.
In the past it's mainly applied to physical tasks but with AI taking over thinking for where will it end?
I heard on some training course or other, tongue ion cheek, that 95% of people don't think, 3% think they think and only 2% actually do think.
Rick
Then it’s a great time to be a thinker! 💯💯💯
