That's actually one of the best aspects of affiliate marketing, that you get paid for sending a shopper to a merchant's site, regardless of what they buy.

As discussed, one vital aspect is the cookie length. That's one thing that frustrates me about Amazon - their cookie is only 24 hours, while most other programs are 30 days or longer. Amazon saves a fortune in commission because of that short cookie period. Just one more reason to work with other merchants rather than Amazon (I have a list!).

If you have a link to the product they are buying then yes, otherwise potentially no.

Hi Rosa,

Here's the main concept: when a visitor arrives to a merchant site using your affiliate link, a so-called cookie will be placed on the visitor's computer.

That cookie has a lifetime which is defined by the merchant itself. It could be anything between 24 hrs and 365 days. If the given visitor will take an action within that time frame (cookie life), you'll get your credits/commissions for other product too (not only those linked by you)

Wowww okay this explained it. Thank you so much (:

You're welcome!

You should be able to see if social media promotion is permitted by looking at the terms & conditions for each merchant. If it isn't covered in the T&C's, then ask the merchant. It is important to know what is allowed or not, as violating these terms could result in your commissions being withheld and even removal from those programs.

Thank you much!

"Using redirects to bounce a click off of a domain from which the click did not originate in order to give the appearance that it came from that domain is expressly prohibited and is a direct violation of the program terms. It is not permitted to submit direct affiliate links to social sharing sites like Facebook.com, Twitter.com, Digg.com, StumbleUpon.com, Pinterest.com and others" Does this mean I can not?

Pay Per Click Marketing

So I completely forgot about the pay-per-click. How does this work? What do i need to do to get there?

Are you talking adding Adsense to your site, or using PPC to promote your site and increase your visitors? You don't have to do that. I have never been a fan of that strategy. I'd rather focus on solid content, and not spend money while learning PPC.

You can sign up for Adsense with Google. I have had it on my page for two months and only made $4, it doesn’t not bring in a lot of money when you’re page is new.

Thank you

You are not alone.
I have read few recommendations but have not been able to get rid of it. It might be I have been missing some steps. Would somebody please help.

Think that the answers are all below.

That's very confusing, I also want a side menu and the categories but i have no idea on how to do it. Anyone knows? Please explain

Your theme must support a side menu, if it doesn't, you'll have to change themes.

Thank you and you are the best. See if I could make this right.

Hey Rosa,

If you mean that you do not want categories shown in the address of your post all you need to do is select the permalink that Kyle teaches us to use.

See screen print below...

However, you really should use your categories... if for nothing else than for SEO purposes. Here's a tutorial to show you the value of using categories: Hope this helps you.

You cannot eliminate them all - you must have one category for your posts. You can remove them from the menu, however, and edit 'uncategorized' to 'general' if you only want one category.
