What are your goals?
Every successful person talks about the importance of having goals.
Life goals, yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, daily goals, etc.
Kyle also highlights it often in his teachings here at Wealthy Affiliate.
I must admit that I need to get better at setting goals. I have some pretty clear goals set up, but I think the steps could be even more clearly defined... Recently, I started sketching a page on a notebook with 30-year goals :D hehe
One of my most important goals is currently to create a high-quality email marketing course for beginners. I have been working on it daily and it takes lots of time since I want to make it great. Then I have broken down the steps to that goal so I'm kinda achieving 'mini-goals' on my way there.
On the other hand, email marketing course is a 'mini goal' compared to some lifetime goals...
Anyways, I just wanted to open a discussion here.
What are your goals or your #1 goal?

Giving some thoughts about goal(s), it seems that niche and goal has similarity in some ways. In the same way that niche can be big in scope that can be divided in small, targeted or specific niche, setting a SMART goal can be an effective approach as roadmap or steps to the direction we want to reach or intend to be. This is how I will define SMART goal.
1. Specific (goal being clearly defined or targeted, not generic)
2. Measurable (can be more effective using quantifiable result)
3. Achievable ( are resources available and affordable - Am I aiming for the moon or the star ? )
4. Relevant ( is your blog or content directly or indirectly related to
the subject/product of your specific niche)
5. Time-bound (clear time frame how long your goal shall be completed, say 1 year or 2 years)
This principle to some people may be an old system but I believe this is still working and effective in business, be it online or offline
I will try it as an exercise. Nothing to lose and it is FREE.
SMART?
I agree that to some it is an old management course staple, originally introduced (although under a different name) by H Ford. It is still a very useful tool but I would suggest more useful in your short-term goal setting rather than your mid - long term and I would have thought a little too complex to be adopted for your niche selection.

Roope, my goal is get more traffic to my site. So far the traffic is minimal but I must say that it has been increasing month after month. So I am trying to put out more and more quality content to gain traction.

Roope, WA needs tons more content on teaching people HOW to change their mindset. Goal setting is one way, but WHY?
People need to understand WHY (to make meaning) as much as they need to know HOW (to put ideas into action).

Hmm. My goal ? To attain financial freedom through WA on a long run. But breaking it down, making over a $100 daily consistently will blow my mind. Cumulatively a $1000+ in a month will really help me to achieve my dream of being a source of help
to my dependants. So i want to work hard in setting up the foundation here. WA is the way.
My goal is to increase traffic to my site, which hopefully will then increase revenue so that I can quit my job and work on my business full time!

I need to set more specific goals of what I want and need to achieve daily, monthly and yearly. I am doing the SAC currently which has us working to achieve the goals Kyle has set out for each month.
Still I need to take it a step further and have goals like you suggest.

My goal is to obtain financial freedom through affiliate marketing. I have set my long term goals at five million a year. Right now I am setting small goals. I am building my foundation. I want to see higher volume of traffic and tins of sales. Lately I have been hearing all kinds of discouraging things so I have stop mentioning my business at all. Instead I am more diligently working on my goal. I can succeed in this. I know I can.
I'd like to see a steady stream of traffic come into my site. At this point it is just a trickle.
Well my goal was to at get 50$ max on sales if possible by third month. But that might be harder than i thought ( well i still have like 2 months so there is still time!)
That's a good goal. Remember that with affiliate marketing your income usually starts growing like a snowball once you get going!

I agree that everyone needs goals if they are to make progress n a purposeful way. My own goals for 2019 are to make my (part-time) business profitable so that I can do it full time, rather than having to work at a regular job. I have been following you and some other successful people at WA in order to try to emulate that success. What I need to do is establish a Youtube channel as an immediate goal. In order to achieve your goals you must take the right focussed actions, so I am keen to learn the best things to do for effective success as quickly as possible, Alan
