Is Website Traffic The Key To Success?

Hi Folks

A member who has been here a few months reckoned that they had a good site which was receiving a lot of visitors, but they were not converting into buyers. Why not they asked, have I missed some aspect of marketing in the training? Have I missed a vital piece of information?

This blog is my reply to that member and all other members who are having this problem of having visitors but no conversions to actual sales.

Although it's true that a constant stream of traffic is the aim of all internet marketers, the quality of the traffic is far more important than the quantity. Even if you have a great website its doomed to fail if you are not getting visitors that are looking for the products or information you have available on your site. You could have a great website design, great content but all your efforts will be useless unless your website is drawing traffic that is interested in what you are promoting.

What you need are visitors specifically interested in your product or service. You need 'Targeted Traffic' that converts into buyers.

If you're marketing plan is designed to drive as many visitors to your site as possible, no matter what kind of traffic it is, then you're not making effective use of your time and you're setting yourself up for failure. Believe it or not, people surfing the web will leave a website after viewing it for only about 2 seconds.

The majority of people are looking for specific items or information and if they don't find what they are looking for on your site quite quickly then they will leave and go to one of the other millions of sites on the web. That's why most of the successful websites are tightly focused around their Niche. Their marketing plan is focused on driving people to their site that are looking for what they are offering. They understand the importance of 'Targeted Traffic'.

Think about your own website. Does it really lend itself to a specific product or service, or is it so broad that it will probably confuse potential customers?

Tips To Make Sure Your Site Has Been Created For Targeted Traffic

  • Design your website to promote one particular product or service.

  • Determine the type of people that will be interested in your product or service and create your website to be attractive to them.

  • Establish the products and or services that are 'closely' related to what you're promoting on your website. If you believe they will be interesting to your visitors, have those offers on your site as well.

  • Keep a constant flow of great content that your visitors will find helpful. Add fresh content and information often. Invite your visitors back to your site to see the new material you're constantly adding with a Newsletter.

  • Keep in mind, a website that's focused on a particular 'Niche' product needs targeted traffic simply because there is something specific to target.

There are many conventional and many not so conventional ways to drive targeted traffic to your website but the purpose of this blog is to point out the difference between website traffic and targeted traffic.

More isn't always better and if you focus your marketing on 'Targeted Traffic' you'll quickly find that the people that are landing on your website are what every marketer wants, and that is potential customers.

There you go folks and of course if any other member who has tips and advice to pass on they can do so via a comment below.

Have a great weekend and be successful.

Very nicely put and great advice. Thank you

Hello Melissa and hope you're well this fine Sunday morning.
You have been here since January so I take it you are making some headway with your site and perhaps not making much if any money from it yet but persevere and keep reading my blogs and you WILL achieve success.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for your comment.
Onwards and Upwards.
Robert

Yes I love my site and still working on it. I have added another site. No not making any money yet but starting to get a little more traffic. Love reading your blogs always something helpful or fun. Thank you

You don't want to take on too much at once Melissa.
Always a good idea to put other ideas on the back burner until you can give them your full attention.

Saying that when I first started it wasn't unusual for me to have 3,4, or even more sites I worked on all at the same time.
You have small children so do you think you can give your business 100% focus all the time?

You do whats best for YOU, but don't get overwhelmed or you're heading for disaster.
You get stuck, you get in touch.
Have a good one.
Robert

I thank you for thinking of me Robert. I am not adding any more right now. My children are pretty much grown. Two of them are 18 and one is 21. So they are not to big of an issue. And I am not working anywhere but here so I have a little extra time is why I done this. However I am not planning on taking anymore until I get these 2 going really well.

I would never have guessed you have grown up kids.
To me, and going by your profile pic you are way to young to have teenagers and older.

Anyway go at your own pace is always best and work to a plan.
Now I'm off home to make myself some east so maybe catch you later.
Robert

Well thank you very much. I hope you have a great rest of your day

Back home and fed and watered as they say and now I'm ready for a hot bath, a wee bit telly (TV) then an early night ready for tomorrow.
Bring it on lol
Robert

This is the one part I don't miss about having a job. However if my site doesn't making some profit soon I may be back in that routine as well.

I don't have a JOB but Mondays are my busiest day upown and its also Bills Day and I like to pay them face to face and get a receipt.
You have only been at it for 4 months Melissa so don't expect too much to happen within your first six months period.
Robert

I understand I am being patient just saying how it is. I am just hoping simply because I don't want to have to go back to this routine. But not upset as I do understand and I know it will be worth it in the long haul.

That's the right mindset to have.
You will certainly have days when you think what the hell am I doing this for.
Then the next day after a good night sleep you will be back again and something will go just right for you and you're off again.
It happens to us all from time to time and if anyone says different, they're lying.
Now I'm def off for the night.
Take care.
Robert

Have a great night and thank you

Can’t sell fish when your niche is gourmet dark chocolates.

Indeed you can't Judson.
Target your audience and you wont go far wrong is the best advice I will give anyone interested in making money as an online marketer.
Thank you for reading my blog and have a great Sunday.
Robert

You are so right about getting the right type of traffic. Just posting regularly doesn't guarantee anything. It has to be as you say the right kind of traffic.

Erica dear lady I haven't seen you around my blogs for a wee while so thank you for reading this one and for your comment.
Target your audience Erica and you wont go far wrong.
Hope you have an awesome Sunday when it dawns for you.
Robert

Thanks Robert. I'm still around and kicking:) just been pretty busy working and some travel thrown in too.

I take it you have sold your benefits insurance business and this gives you lots more time to travel.
Lucky lady coz I can't seem to get a couple of days to myself never mind fly off somewhere.
Not to worry though if I didn't love what I do I would probably still be working 9 to 5 and that would never suit me now I've tasted the freedom of being self employed.
Hope you are doing ok with your online biz and having a ball at the same time.
Onwards and Upwards Erica.
I'm about to sign off for the night so hopefully I will catch you another day.
Bye for now.
Robert

Barb

Hi Robert :O) just a note to tell you I am back in the swing of things but still not getting results from head office.
As per your work on targeted traffic I agree totally and I have tried to work that way. But my fault for not keeping up with the work. that could lead to a disaster
Linda

Hello Linda and yes you should have kept up with the work on your site.
You are in for an uphill struggle to get back ontrack but I'm here and when I'm not there's always my blogs to help you out.
have a great Sunday over there in Canada.
Robert

I think there should be more emphasis put on this in the training here at WA.

Hello David and I agree there should be specific training on the different tactics and techniques for traffic generation and more so on how to target your audience.
All very well to tell people to get the traffic but the how to is the all-important part that seems to be missed out.
I have published several blogs on traffic generation so perhaps if you are having trouble in this area you should take the time to browse.
I'm sure you will go away with lots of tips and advice.
Have a good one.
Robert

I think my website falls in the "too broad" category. I have many items that would support my main niche but I'm pretty sure anyone who visits my website right now would not be able to figure out what my "targeted niche" really is.

I will add though that I have recently come up with what I think that targeted niche should be and am researching it now. I still have to write my first article on it but I have listed it as a topic on a previous general article.

I apologize for this being a long comment but it is something I am currently focused on correcting and your article is well timed for me.

Thanks,
Rick

Hello Rick and thank you for dropping by and reading my blog.
It doesn't do to have too broad a Niche and have lots of different products on it.
I would stick to one main product and perhaps 2 or 3 others that are closely related to that main one.

My advice for what its worth is to dig deep into your niche until you find a not so well known product but is still in great demand.
You have a site specific to that product you can then target your audience with great keywords related to that product.
You will get the traffic to your site and they will convert because you have exactly what they are looking for.
Thank you for your comment and have a great Sunday.
Robert

Thank you Robert for the great advice. I will be taking a hard look at my site again. I'm still learning and that probably won't ever stop.

Rick

No probs Rick.
Onwards and upwards to success.
Robert

No harm in going back over your content and updating with more specific keywords to attract the people you know stand a good chance of converting into buyers.
Hope you have a good day today and all the days to come.
