Make Money Blogging
Hello folks I don’t do much of it now but there are a lot of WA members who or are thinking about entering into Blogging as a means of earning an income online. I also notice from questions asked within WA comments that quite a few members are asking how they should go about this enterprise.
Therefore this blog is about what method you should be thinking about before you actually start. If you like it’s an insight to what it’s all about and what would be the best way for you.
There are two major types of business models that online marketers use to make money blogging.
The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog's readers.
The second kind of money making blog is one that helps a single brand improve its image by creating positive associations between the blog and the product in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing.
If you are going to blog with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site; you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the profits.
That first way is that many people make money blogging by selling space through Google's AdSense program. The advantages of this program are many, as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster to begin making money. However, most people discover that they make less money through this method than they had hoped that their blog would earn.
The second way is selling advertising directly to companies who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route. People who have a strong background in sales and are experienced at pitching proposals can make quite a bit of money by renting blog space to interested companies. The most serious problem with this model is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging.
As blogging becomes a more and more lucrative business, a lot of established companies are considering how they can get into the action. One way that companies are capitalizing on the blog movement is by having blogs that provide a kind of friendly face for their company. Often, a company will employ an established blogger to create a weblog designed specifically to appeal to that company's customers and to create positive associations with the brand in consumers' minds. More than one writer who never dreamed that he or she could make money blogging has been approached by a company and offered quite a pretty penny for this kind of gig.
Ok folks there you have it and now you have to say to yourself - “Can I make money blogging”?
If you believe you can because you are quite a good writer and don’t have a problem coming up with blog content on any subject then by all means go for it. As I said, it can be quite a money spinner.

I was promoting an affiliate who dropped me because of some regulatory reason totally out of my control. I contacted them and they agreed to put a paid banner advertisement on my site. Never hurts to ask.
Hello. Where you blogging for them and they didn't like the content?
Or was it something else that they didn't like so put the banner on instead of you writing for them?

They told me the regulatory environment changed and they were forced to make some changes. When I contacted them and learned that I negotiated a three-month ad with them. There was nothing wrong with my content - just government intervention.

Robert this was great information, and I have never thought of my self as a blogger until I came to WA. I still haven't blogged as you or other members, but with a little practice and know how it is dueable I feel for any one. or most anyone. Something for one to think about!

Hi Linda and of course you can become a blogger.
All it takes is subject matter and you can write a wee bit about anything you like or just something you believe in or something you have done or something you are thinking of doing.
Do your research and you will soon have loads of ideas churning through your mind.

I like the way you laid this out so well! You are indeed correct, there are definitely options out there and the method can be done to be as unique and individual as the blogger!

When I look to myself and the blogs I stop and read completely, that are always Blogs about a subject that challenges my fantasy...
I don't read blogs about the daily life of somebody with a 9 - 5 office job and kids and a wife.
Yes, I would read that man his blog when he write about something special he does, something new and exciting!
It's like on facebook: you have people that post what they have eaten and when the kids went to bed....
And you have people that always make a post about something special, funny, creative and then it is interesting for me...

I agree and I think I know what you're saying.
You will never make money from blogging about what your kids did before bed or how your dog ate their breakfast.
But what was so good about the breakfast that the dog ate it?
There's you blog content if your websites about promoting/selling health foods that are so good your dog will eat it.

Yes indeed and when you are able to create story/blog about that dog that did some things to be able to eat that food and maybe also his behavior after eating the food. But if you can bring this in a way that as reader you think it is funny, but you are constantly thinking: Is this possible? No, it is not possible.... Or would it be possible cause some dogs can do...?
I think that when you have the talent to write those kind of text for example, then I think you can earn lot's of money with blogging...
But I will never be able to do such a thing... I think you need to have the talent for this kind of stuff...

A thought provoking post Robert.
I have a question.
My husband is a very excitable, passionate, opinionated person who will go on a rant that varies with how the wind blows that day. It can be on any subject that pops up on the daily news being health related, politics, religion, you name it.
He drives me crazy, but people love his rants even though they are almost never politically correct. His friends commonly joke saying, "Wind him up and watch him go."
If I set up a blog site for him to vent his daily rant, I am confident that he could become somewhat of an internet celebrity creating both friends and enemies I am sure....BUT...
In your opinion, is there a way to market this type of blog and have it be profitable? Does it fit into one of the two types of blogs you are talking about here?
Hello Krazykat: did not saw your comment before I wrote mine, otherwise I would have mentioned this as an example: A guy that always has crazy ideas and write them down with a lot of passion and it is never normal and always absurd but also funny and never the same subject or the same opinion...
I would read that kind of Blog...
But indeed, how can you make money with that kind of blog?
PS: I can understand when you have to live with him, that he sometimes drives you crazy! :-)

Hello Val. yes it could be a viable proposition and certainly make you money.
Why not do it this way.
Affiliate yourself with a company(s) and publish blogs on whatever brand(s) and have your husband as a guest blogger with his take on whatever you are promoting.
Its just an idea but I'm sure you will see where I'm going with this.
You personally can do a blog on virtually any product under the sun and have hubby write his take on it.
Hope this has given you some idea of what's possible.

I just said Amazon but there are others such as eBay as well as loads of other multi product sites.
Always best to have an action plan before you start so get out some good old fashioned pen and paper and write your thoughts down.

Hi Robert, great blog. But I end up confused. What you have said above makes sense to me. But I just read the rules for WA and it seams we can't promote anything on WA. Please help out on this one.
It will never be easy for one person who starts a blog and make a earning on it. It will take all your time and it will take a long time before you have the audience you have to have every day to make money blogging. I f you have 100 thousend readers every day you can make money online but who of us ordinary people have so many readers. Read about the bloggers who earn a good deal of money. Look at their blog and the name and you see this is known bloggers for many people. They have make a living of blogging but it is just a small amount of us who is capable to make a blog and earn good money. It is not easy to make much money blogging and the big blogger around us they have a team around them, they are not alone. How many of you bloggers inside wealthy affiliate make much money, not so many i think. Search for make money online, no one of them work and you will not make money, maybe if you have a lot of money to invest you can be at the top of the pyramid and get your chair of the money. Look to Norway, we have maybe 2 handfuls who make money on blogging and those girls writing their diaries online or about food and you have makeup and a lot of picture and videos of them self. So don't think it's easy to make money online. We have 2 her at wealthy affiliate who have made a site that makes money but it's only a few of them. Come up whit a great idea no one else have and you will make money.

Hello Ola. I think you are looking at blogging for profit the wrong way.
Of course the most successful bloggers have been blogging for a long time but they had to start somewhere.
They didn't suddenly become well known bloggers overnight.
It takes time to build up a readership, I'm not disputing that but if you have a website and can fill it with good informative blogs on a regular basis then you Will make money from it.
You can also become a guest blogger.
You can also publish blogs on other sites such as Google's Blogger and hundreds if not thousands of other sites.
I know this because I used to do it.
