I paid big bucks ten years ago to have SEO on my company site. Still waiting for the first customer. Be careful where you go.
Just what I said to fawlty. There are scammers no matter what you want. Check up and check up some more before you part with any money.
If possible its best if you can actually go to an office and talk face to face.
Failing that you demand cast iron proof the firm can deliver.

I would never do that unless I could earn enough elsewhere to justify the cost lol. Fortunately I write with SEO in mind and have worked with some of the world's leading SEO companies, but you still make great points for those who are unsure :)
It would be a waste of money for you if you do have some experience and know the pitfalls of seo.
Maybe I can learn from you so will look forward to your seo blog if and when you publish one.

Thanks again Robert, very thorough, there are really good SEO specialists, the boss of my husband hired one, and ever since they have #1 position on Google.But you really have to separate the wheat from the chaff. Have a nice day too
I agree - there are so many people (the chaff) who bombard me (10's per day), and anyone I've done a website for, with the same copy, claiming to be able to fix their SEO problems and get them to page 1 of Google.
I always reply asking how they will do that without PBNs, and other blackhat techniques - and what keywords they will get ranked for etc - to this date, I've not had a single reply to those replies.
Maybe the real SEO experts (the wheat) are busy enough with people finding them and asking for help based on real results.
Or you could just stick here - and learn how it's done from people who have done it :)

As I said to Yasir below.
Its always best to hire a firm from your home city if possible and check up on them that they are a reputable firm as your husband's boss will have done.
There are a lot of people who tell you this, that and the other and they WILL get you on the first page of search engines but alas most of the time it does not happen and you have waste your money.
Its also true that a lot of good firms get tarred with the same brush though and so you have to take a leap of faith.

Its always good to get comments that are not in total agreement with everybody else.
I don't usually follow the herd myself and to date I have never hired an seo firm but maybe the time will come when I have to and as I have already said to Loes and Yasir I will be looking for one in my home city so I can check up on them face to face and ask to see real results from other clients.
The 7 warning signs in my graphic for a Los Angeles firm I researched for info says it all really and if WA members stick to those they should be ok.

Hello Yasir. I don't know where you live but its always best to find a firm where you live or the nearest biggest city to where you live.
Then you check up on them and try to find out if they have a good reputation and ask for actual proof of satisfied customers.
You could always look on the internet.
Just type SEO Firms/your country/state/city and you should get some results and take it from there as I said above.
