how to arrange a webapge so only select people can view it

Kyle has you covered here; kindly let us know if you managed.

You can add post visitor settings in Wordpress. Here is an example of how to do this, right from the Wordpress docs.

https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/protect-posts-with-password/

There has to be a real application for wanting to do this, but if you want to serve a particular post on your website that requires a password, this is the way to do it. ;)

How to protect a webpage with a password?

some pages need to be hidden on your website. Thank You and download link pages should not be seen in the page menus. However, I am not finding a way to do this using gutenburg

very good question, Robert and I see Trish has a great response. Thank you, Trish.

Wayne

Hey Robert,

Once you make sure your "thank you" page is set to NOINDEX (All In One SEO plugin just below the edit window of your page), be sure to add that page to your Google XML Sitemaps settings so that you won't be penalized in Google.

Here's how you can exclude your "thank you" page from your sitemap once you have set it to NOINDEX: Hope you find this helpful.

if you remove them from your menus - and maybe untick the add all pages to your menu.
then the bo to the right in the editor has an article tab- cicking on this will give you the same options as the classic editor.
you also tick the all in one settings of no index, don't add to sitemap - no follow and disable seo on this page.
this will be as hidden as it can be on a wordpress site.
Good luck Robert
phil

Thanks for your quick response. I will try that this week.

I used it on one of my other websites so I know it is possible to upload it here at WA. But this time I get a screen message that says "Do you really want to do this?" without

Try clicking on the message, it should be a link and will take you back to your post or page. Upload the plugin again. Hope this helps. Free

Hi Harry, I did try to upload the plugin a number of times but got to the same message. Maybe it was just a WordPress clitch that day so I will try again in a while.

Uh... perhaps it means 'no'

At least to give a second thought

Trouble is "No" does not always mean NO. I have used it previously on another of my websites here at WA. It may be that newer WP updates are now causing the issue. I will try again soon and if I still have issues I will put in a support ticket.

Yes... best is to ask support

Is there a plugin which allows the navigation bar to be hidden or excluded from a page? I want to have a landing page on my site with no direct access to the rest of the site.<

Pop over to wordpress.org and look for a landing page plugin (make sure it has good reviews).

Thanks Marion.

Hello,

This blog should help you... It is the header.php (normally) where you have to apply this info... Good luck and please let me know when you have a problem/question or just if it worked perfectly from the start...

Grtz,
Bert

I see a discussion on here about 2 years ago about using QR codes. I was wondering if any of you are using them and if so what results have you had with them?

I've found this thread when I was searching for people in WA who may have used QR codes for their marketing campaigns.
It's 3 years old... So I guess I should post a new question.

Personally I think QR codes are slowly going the way of the dodo bird

I saw it at our local pizza joint but he has even stopped using it

I agree, not one big grocery/discount company has every applied something (not even a real test project) here with QR codes...
So, that is definitely a sign of the dodo bird... :-)

Hi Leo. Do you think the issue is one of people not knowing what to do with a qr code or are they just getting rubbish results back?

There will be something new within some time and I actually never really understood the difference between a QR code and a barcode?
It is more secure that's it I think and they made it to secure cause devices can not read it often... :-)

No most people know what to do, but there are far many other things available to people that the QR code is becoming irrelevant

Hello,

I definitely don't use them because in my experience a lot of smartphones don't recognize the qr code always...
So therefore I prefer to wait some time..

This is, of course, my personal experience...

Grtz,
Bert

Hi Bert. Thanks for such a quick reply. I have only just now upgraded my phone to 'smart' status so I will be scanning codes whenever I have a suitable signal just to see what happens.

Good idea, so you will learn what works for you and your phone and what doesn't.
But I already can say: when you have a low budget smartphone (under $100) the chance is low it will work and when you have a more expensive one (above $200 - $250) the chances it will work are a lot higher...

Grtz,
Bert

I upgraded from a Samsung Ace to a Samsung A3 at £200 so it sounds to be in your recommended price range.

Yeps... :-) But please, let me know if it works, I was more referring to the S models... ;-)

Hi - I thought they were really going to take off a couple of years ago - but in my experience, they never really have so far.

I agree with Bert - my phones have never had an app in-built to recognise it (maybe it if was built into the camera by default there would be a better uptake) - but I have to go and find an app and install it, before I can use them.

Easier to just look at the web address - or google it.

Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark, I think the idea is to get an instant connection as a result of scanning the code but I found this morning in our Tesco's that the local signal is too weak to get online in the store. I was wanting a detail on a dvd player and was hoping to get it answered right there in the store. But no I have to come home and as you say google it instead. So I was wondering if it would be worth my while using them on my WA promotion material?
