Hi Steve, thanks for the response.

It's the approximate or average position that has got me wondering. When I do a search for the keyword that gets the impression, the site doesn't show up in that position or anywhere near it. I've drilled down to 4 or 5 pages and still not seen it. So I start to wonder if the stats are completely inaccurate.

Have you went through the keyword training yet. WA has a keyword tool and then Jaaxy keyword tool helps you implement your keywords into your site, but you really need to understand how it works before you go adding them. It is just a simple word or group of words you add to your content (which most will choose low hanging fruit) keywords to add to their page to get better ranking with Google, but you don't want to over do it or abuse it otherwise it will look like keyword stuffing and be considered spam.

Yes, I've been through that training. To be honest I hadn't expected to get anywhere near page one of Google with one of my website pages, I've been aiming at optimising blog posts. I was a bit surprised when the FAQ page got to the top of page 2.

I've edited the page to focus more on the actual key phrase but in doing so I broke the link to the page (changed the permalink). So I've had to create a dummy page with the old permalink and put a redirect on it so that the original listing still works.

It's possible I've made things worse, I'll have to see. In the meantime if anybody has any questions about binaural beats that I haven't already answered on http://binauralto.com/binaural-beats-faq, I'll be happy to include them.

As for keyword research, yes I'm familiar with the tools. I also have Market Samurai which I've been using for some years so I know a little bit about keyword research. I must admit though, the method used here in WA is a little different to anything else I've come across before.

Well, guess you will have to see how it goes. My home page is on 2.1 right now and I feel pretty good with that, but still working on boosting it to number one. Quite a few of my review posts are on the first page, also a good thing. My blog is 4.3 right now and climbing. I just keep adding more content and heading for page one.

I'm guessing 2 days to see traffic is the exception rather than the rule?

I'm not convinced that the question is as simple as 'how badly do you want this'...? It seems to me that it doesn't matter how badly you want something if you don't take the right kind of action.

I've had a mountain of information from an army of marketing gurus but have still to see some success. I've poured all my energy into trying to achieve that success; and still do. At the moment I'm aiming at getting at least one blog post/review on to my website a day. And of course I'm targeting keywords according to the WA keyword search method.

My issue is, I can't keep pouring money into any strategy without seeing some return on that investment. What I'm trying to discover is what would be a reasonable expectation? How much effort needs to go into a new niche to see a return?

And if seeing traffic within two days is anything like an average response, what am I doing wrong?

Not easy questions to answer I know but anyone who sets themselves up as a marketing mentor needs to be able to answer them. So perhaps I should direct this question at Kyle or Carson.

The way I see it if someone wants something bad enough they will take the action to get it. It really is simple... If you want it, act, if not, don't act. The application however is where the challenge starts as we travel into mindsets, insecurities, gaining knowledge and all that.

Just to get some clarity, what is success for you?
What results would you like to see or get in order for you know you got some success?
How long do you think it could take you?

There are so many factors involved with the amounts of "effort" required and to give your open ended question specific to the point answers is a challenge indeed.

For example,

Does your niche know who you are?
Does your niche trust you?
Are Google aware of you yet?
Does google trust you?
Does your audience get value from you?
Do the other search engines trust you?
Is your mindset in a place that believes this is possible for yourself?
Have you got a sales funnel set up?
is your marketing congruent to your message and who you are?
Do you have a strategy?
Have you got an authority?
What is your budget?
What's your experience and how much of the mountain of information have you actioned already?
and then some.

It is possible to get traffic to your website on day number one of having your website up and running... One person needs to visit your site and you have traffic... You could also buy it on the first day...

People start seeing more consistent results from around the 3 - 6 month period on average.

This could get very involved if I try to respond to all of that and I don't want to take up all of your time. But thanks for the response, the 3 to 6 month mark is at least a target.

Just to cover a couple of the questions you've asked:
Success for me would come in stages. First I'd like to see traffic from the organic search results (requires my content to hit page one of Google for relevant keywords). Secondly, I'd need to see some sales; after all that's the whole reason for being in business to start with. Ultimately of course success means earning enough revenue to pay for my business costs (such as WA membership) and provide a reasonable living or better still, an exceptional and worry free life. When it comes down to it, that's probably what most people strive for.

As for questions like do I provide quality, does my audience know of me and/or trust me, etc. How do I judge? Other than looking at site analytics of course which at the moment are not too promising.

Thank goodness! Otherwise we would have been here all day! lol. I am teasing a little.. There are actually some questions I would like to go through and I think they will also answer your questions in the process or at least give you better clarity of the tasks involved to reach your goals. Thanks for the answers that you did give, those are most valuable.

Your site is very good! The layout is great, the information is great, it's an interesting topic. Excellent job there! I can see you have put a lot of effort into it already understand why you feeling like you not getting anywhere or seeing some results.

I am going to focus on goal number one for now.
There are a few aspects of your site that are missing which is really limiting your chances of getting on the first page.

1 Does your niche know who you are? - I don't see any social share buttons or a subscribe form anywhere on your site. This tells me you not going to get much if any referrals. There are a lot more people in the world than you could share to personally yourself. Social sharing is something you want to leverage and will lead to your second goal in creating passive income.

- Does the niche trust you? Task 1 - Get social first.
- Does Google know you there? - Seems so
- Does Google trust you? - Not much. Your site has, according to Moz.com a Page Authority or 1 and a Domain Authority of 1... These are out out of 100. So you have some work to do still, fortunately it is the smart work kind. ;)
To raise these numbers put links to authority sites in your content, could be the research material you got your information from. Or a wiki site, or something that already ranks quite high. Backlinks are quite important and it is more about quality than how many you have.

Also look at joining groups on social networks that are interested in your topic, serve the groups by sharing your content and get engaged in conversations there as well.

From where I am sitting it looks like you have lots to be proud of already. Your site is really good and the information is really great. It is only a matter of time and making a few corrections here and there. Work on those steps and then let's take it from there.

I understand your comments on social sharing etc. I believe that comes up in the next module on the WA training schedule. I just need to find one more product to review (following the training that I've got to so far). After that I'll get a Facebook page set up and get some social links on my site.

And regarding backlinks, I was planning to look at that issue next anyway but it's good to get some confirmation of that.
