Thank you all for your feedback on this issue I definitely will take more time and study my courses.
Keywords are basically the words & phrases people type into the Google search bar. For example "how to purify tap water" could be a keyword. (If it's a longer phrase like in this example, they are usually called long-tail keywords.)
That's why it is very valuable to focus on one specific niche: The more you learn about your niche, the better you will become at finding the keywords people search for.
If you follow the training, you will be introduced to keyword research at the right moment. With that said, keyword research takes practice and the earlier you develop a routine for it, the better.
If you can't find keywords, don't worry. Just follow the training, it will teach you exactly how to do it and develop the right routine. If you are bursting with keyword ideas, you can write them down in a list - that's going to help you a lot for when you start writing content.
Woooow.... slow down just a bit, seriously niche and keywords determine your success. I term of 1 website you put time and effort into you are best to understand and KNOW how to put it all together for the best and quickest result...
Take it from a guy who dived in with a rock on his shoulders:)
Go through the training first and stick all your ideas that keep flowing and making you feel like to want rush, on a piece of paper! by then you should have a good grip and be ready to start a killer niche blog with little competition.
How to Write an Article This training should answer your questions on how to use keywords. Note that it was done before the WA keyword tool was replaced by Jaaxy. Each one works but they operate differently so don't worry about the results just the concepts.
Rachel - if you are creating content, you need to use keywords effectively for best SEO practices (ranking in search engines).
Keywords don't have to be included in your domain name, but they really need to be used properly on your posts.
There's plenty of training on keywords, which you likely haven't reached yet in the lessons.
Jay recorded some terrific keyword training just recently, which you may find helpful: Researching Keywords

Good Day, Rachel
From your profile, I see that you have been at Wealthy Affiliate for only a short period of time.
My best suggestion for you is to get involved in the the training, first of all. In the left side menu, second item down is "Training".
CLICK training and go to top item.
Online Entrepreneur Certification
Here you will find 5 courses each having 10 lessons.
This "training is a 5 phase (50 lesson) series of courses, walking you through the process of creating and growing a business, within absolutely ANY niche that you want".
Begin here, so that you get trained the proper way. The error that most beginners make, and I have done this in the past as well, is to not begin with the training in its proper sequence.
Imagine, if you wanted to become a teacher, a nurse, a doctor or a lawyer. You would not "instantly" become any of the above.
Yes, you are ready for keywords, but you are also ready to learn about finding a niche, how to use keywords for creating content, and how to publish this content.
What is SEO and how does it enter into the equation?
This is the reason for the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course.
Follow the courses in their proper sequence and don't be in a rush to move forward until you understand the material at hand.
This is the best way to learn any business.
If you follow the training here, there is a HUGE possibility that you can build a very successful online business.
I hope this helps a bit.
