Articles are one way for you to promote your Website or Blog. The idea behind this is that you select a keyword that appears in the content you want to promote, write the article using the keyword several times in the article and provide a couple of links at the end of your article to allow the reader to get more information at YOUR Website or Blog.

An article can also be a page or post on your own site. This tutorial will help you add content to your site as well. When adding content to your site, focus on one keyword or idea and create your page or post.

Deciding what to write about is an ideal topic for another tutorial. In fact, this has been done several times in the training here. Search for "Niche Research" in the training.

Now that you have your idea. You need to do a bit of research to fill out your idea.

I was surfing the other day and came across an article in the Huffington Post regarding a Blue Lobster that was recently discovered in a catch by a Maine Lobsterman.

To illustrate the process that I go through, I will walk you through the process that I used when writing my last article called "The Rare Blue Lobster" I'll provide a link at the end of the tutorial so you can read what I've written if you like.

Let's start by looking at the keyword [Blue Lobster].

Pop over to the WA keyword tool....

In your Left side menu look for Find Keywords and click on this.

The articles go on your website. Posts or pages.
I used Street Articles as an example.
Reply

So is that your web site? Street Articles?
Reply

Street articles is an article directory. It is owned by Kyle and Carson. Article directories used to be helpful for ranking until Google decided they were being abused. Now you are better served by putting your content on your website.

They are Maine lobsters. They taste the same. However, most of the Blue lobsters are returned to the water. They are very rare and the fishermen are loath to add them to the pot. Often they are provided to various marine museums.

This whole post was interesting. Do you go through this same steps for all of the blogs you post on your sites? The blog posts on a website need to all be related to the niche of the site. So in my Affiliate Bootcamp site I am creating now I would need to add blogs to this site and all of the subjects of each post needs to be about affiliate marketing. Is this right? I like your blue lobster article very much! Do you have to have your articles approved by someone to be allowed to post in street articles? Can you put backlinks on the articles if they relate to your niche? Sorry about all the questions.
Thanks so much for your help,
Barbara
Reply
DJ-Yogi Premium
"Do you have to have your articles approved by someone to be allowed to post in street articles?" - I don't think so, BUT street are not relevant anymore for SEO. You better publish on your website or here on your WA-Blog (with a link to your WS). To have backlinks (if not overused) in a post is always good. External and internal.
Reply
Labman Premium
There are some criteria that need to be met to have an article approved on SA. This article was done as a training so I had no problems posting it on Street Articles. Now, your articles should be posted on your own site. Article directories don't have the power they once had.

Labman,

I read your lesson and it was excellent. You have broken down the process into a very simple "formula" (if you'll excuse that word.)

Now, my question is that I followed your link and I saw that the article was posted not on your site/blog, but on an article site. Forgive me, I'm still new here, but how does this benefit you? What I mean is that I didn't really see how this links back to your site or how you ultimately monetize an offsite article like this. Of course, you did say in the lesson that this was more of an exercise on your part, so maybe you never intended to monetize it, but I'm just trying to wrap my head around all these new concepts I've been learning the past few days.

Thanks.
Reply
VitaliyG Premium
Hi James, allow me to weight in on this. On WA, posting outside links is not allowed, only on a few pages like requesting comments. This allows an unbiased and fully helpful article to be delivered to help out members.
Reply
JamesGoolsby Premium
Of course. I wasn't speaking of his article/lesson here; I was referring to his lobster article. What I meant was, if I were to write an article and submit it to a site like ezine or something, how does it ultimately come back to me and my site? It seems like an awful lot of work to go through if there is no way to benefit from it in the end. Sorry for the confusion. I hope that clarifies what I was asking. Thanks.
Reply
VitaliyG Premium
Well that's an old method which isn't good anymore, but basically you would link from those types of articles to your website to try and get backlinks. Now those things don't work well anymore so all the content we write is usually on our personal websites.
Reply
JamesGoolsby Premium
Gotcha! See, that's why I ask. lol

I never thought about the number of results in Google not being the actual number of "keyword results" before. I have noticed that Google doesn't always give you the same results that you are looking for though. I hate when I'm looking for something and have to wade through a lot of things that I'm not looking for. Still love Google though.

What an informative article, thanks! My question is, do you list your keywords in the SEO section the bottom of the page in word press where you create your post? Kyle didn't say anything yey in the lessons I'm up to, but as I create posts around keywords I'm not sure what to do.

No, listing your keywords is an outdated technique. Google will determine the best fit to rank you. You may find your content ranks for things you didn't even consider.

Reply

Your welcome Josh and thanks for the follow. When I first started my first site, my niche is cats. I probably went way to broad just starting out but then that is exactly what I did. I have sub-niches within the broad niche of cats.
Reply
Labman Premium
Target the specific items for keywords. See what people are searching for around the items then focus on those keywords as you tell them about the discounted items, what is good about them other than the price and what compromises were made to reduce the price. Make sure to offer them the full priced alternative as well (higher commissions). Let them choose the discount or the full product or service.

My question is this. Do you have a website or business about Lobsters? I am confused as to why we would write articles about something not even related to our niche. How can I write about Valentines day or Halloween or anything else and related it to our business to bring in more people to our site. I guess I'm just not getting it about writing articles to point to your site about subjects that don't relate!
Reply

You are to create post related only to your topics within your website only. When people create training here they just use things for demonstration purposes only.

Absolutely, I understood you were only writing to help us learn how you would go about writing an article BUT, I seem to remember Kyle writing about some subject popular in the news, posted an article at Street Articles and got very high immediate rankings. So I thought you were trying to show a similar thing. Therefore, I keep thinking how do we tie in a popular news story we spend so much time on writing an article for if we are not at all in that news stories niche? I keep thinking that you can only write so much about a certain niche. I guess you can always find ways to tie something in if you work at it hard enough. Sorry for not making myself clearer.
