Want to be Helpful - But Feeling a Little Snarky?

Last Update: October 04, 2015

The word "helpful" is self explanatory - but "snarky"? The Urban Dictionary defines snarky as

A witty mannerism, personality, or behavior that is a combination of sarcasm and cynicism. Usually accepted as a complimentary term. Snark is sometimes mistaken for a snotty or arrogant attitude.
"Her snarky remarks had half the room on the floor laughing and the other half ready to walk out."

Combining helpful and snarky

Have you ever wanted to help someone that's got a legitimate question or a problem, but wondered why they didn't spend just a few minutes hunting for an answer themselves? Here's a fun little tool that lets you be helpful - with an attitude.

Visit lmgtfy.com and type in a search term that would resolve that question or problem. The site will provide a link below the search box.

Send that link to the person you're trying to help. For example, if they'd like to know more about the meaning of "snarky", suggest they visit http://bfy.tw/BkX

Note: you have to click the link above to truly understand the gist of this blog.

Yep, there's a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek humor here, but there's also a bit of truth in the moral of this little blog.

One last thing...

Sit back and chuckle - and cast about for your next victim ;)

Hi Sami!

You can bring it out at "that" moment, bring it out when you need a little chuckle, or even when you think the person you're helping could use a chuckle themselves ;).

Knock yourself out!

This is such an awesome point, D. I think that all the time as I'm seeing some of the questions. Having said that, though, I do totally allow for a person having a total "brain fart" OR already doing some searching and studying and still not getting it and finally thinking... "Oh heck with it, I gotta just ask someone with a clue and get on with my life." That's what I think anyway just before I drop into the chat room with my stupid question...

But do me a favor and tell me if I'm being obtuse OR SNARKY and send my dumb little hiney away, OK? -Alexx

We all have those moments Alexx.

Call it what you will - brian fart, senior moment, sometimer's disease,... Heck, my brain cell sometimes misfires and I can't remember from one room to the next what I intended to do!

Allowances must be made.

Having said that, there's no reason not to have a little fun while making allowances ;)

lol - Dennis this is mint! I bet nearly everyone has felt that way at least once when someone asked a question.

You know what though ... I ask a lot of questions even knowing I can use Google or the WA search function (just realized this a few days ago and I've been here since January). I just don't know why I never think to do that when I go through the process of asking the question. no that is phenomenon.

Have you ever pressed the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button under Google? I've always wondered what it does.

ROCK ON!

Google has all kinds of silliness available - some of which involves the "I'm feeling lucky" button.

For example, go to the Google search and type Google Gravity. Click on "I'm Feeling lucky".

Enjoy!
