The word "helpful" is self explanatory - but "snarky"? The Urban Dictionary defines snarky as

A witty mannerism, personality, or behavior that is a combination of sarcasm and cynicism. Usually accepted as a complimentary term. Snark is sometimes mistaken for a snotty or arrogant attitude.
"Her snarky remarks had half the room on the floor laughing and the other half ready to walk out."

Combining helpful and snarky

Have you ever wanted to help someone that's got a legitimate question or a problem, but wondered why they didn't spend just a few minutes hunting for an answer themselves? Here's a fun little tool that lets you be helpful - with an attitude.

Visit lmgtfy.com and type in a search term that would resolve that question or problem. The site will provide a link below the search box.

Send that link to the person you're trying to help. For example, if they'd like to know more about the meaning of "snarky", suggest they visit http://bfy.tw/BkX

Note: you have to click the link above to truly understand the gist of this blog.

Yep, there's a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek humor here, but there's also a bit of truth in the moral of this little blog.

One last thing...

Sit back and chuckle - and cast about for your next victim ;)

Hello Lyn!

Something to tuck away for those occasions when a mix of assistance and a gentle whack is in order. I recall many such occasions while raising kids ;)

I love it!!! I have a friend who constantly asks me to look something up for him when he could do it himself --- drives me nuts. I am sending this to him next time. This is just so perfect & so hilarious. Thanks for making my day.

Excellent Darlene!

At the end of your email (with the embedded lmgtfy.com link), add "Dennis made me do it" - or "the devil made me do it".

I've been called worse :)

Love it - I have certain family members who might be getting several of these a day!

Hi Tom,

Consider the possibilities - giving someone a helping hand, while simultaneously giving them a gentle slap with the other!

lol - Dennis this is mint! I bet nearly everyone has felt that way at least once when someone asked a question.

You know what though ... I ask a lot of questions even knowing I can use Google or the WA search function (just realized this a few days ago and I've been here since January). I just don't know why I never think to do that when I go through the process of asking the question. no that is phenomenon.

Have you ever pressed the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button under Google? I've always wondered what it does.

ROCK ON!

Greetings Eric!

Google has all kinds of silliness available - some of which involves the "I'm feeling lucky" button.

For example, go to the Google search and type Google Gravity. Click on "I'm Feeling lucky".

Enjoy!

Dennis

:) thanks Dennis!
