ChatGPT: New 663 Word Post Created in 30 Minutes, Google Indexed in 60
An article caught my attention on MSN this morning whose subject matter I thought would be a good blog post for my anti-aging site. I copied it and asked ChatGPT to rephrase it. I rewrote some aspects of it in my own voice, created an excerpt and assigned tags and categories. I obtained an image from Pixabay to use as a featured image. Created the post and added a relevant image to each paragraph and flowed the text around it.
And while that sounds like a lot, the whole thing took less than half an hour. For a 663 word post!
And it was indexed by Google within an hour of submitting it to GSC.
ChatGPT did the heavy lifting.

Thanks for sharing this. Isn't that exactly what we have been warned NOT to do? I understand you put your own spin on it, but where is the line drawn between AI content and just fixing it up a little?
Are you just experimenting to see if Google will penalize you? I am very confused about what is acceptable and what is not. I guess time will tell.
Also curious if you put "your" article thru an AI detection tool to see if it is detected as AI content. Or did you use Grammarly Pro, plagiarism checker? Just curious.
Sooo glad you asked this. I am very new to using ChatGPT. I just loaded it an hour ago. I had it redo a blog for me...just fooling around. It did it waaay better than my original. So, I'm sitting here wondering. Do I get to use this? Are there repercussions for doing so? What is the point of using it if I cannot reap the benefits of what it does? I need to go back and watch a tutorial. Anyway, I'm glad to talk about it. Thanks again!

Yes, to a certain extent, it was an experiment and so far a successful one, with Google indexing the article in no time.
But I did alter the generated article to make it my own and the end result, including illustrating each paragraph with a relevant image containing alt text, made it look good too.
I treat ChatGPT like a PA with extensive data at her fingertips.
So, if Google is indexing AI articles in no time, is everyone afraid there will come a day when this type of content will be penalized? Is that the fear? That we aren't in that environment yet, but it's coming? If Google is indexing AI content, what is the downside?

Also, did you publish the article with you as the author or did you give credit to chatgpt somehow?

I didn't consider it AI content and clearly Google didn't either. ChatGPT was my research assistant, not the writer.
If you follow me, you should be able to see the website listed on my profile. Just go to it and click on blogs and then the latest one.
I am very interested in giving this a try after reading all your blogs about ChatGPT. Any suggestions on which one to use? I want to try it out before I purchase, but even when I download a "free" version, it wants money to do anything.
I'm still using the free version with no issues, so I'm not sure what your problem is. I'll undoubtedly upgrade before long as I start using it more.

Hi - as you know, I am working on an experimental ChatGPT site as a side project, just out of curiosity.
In the space of 16 days, I have added 89 posts averaging 800 words, of which 86 are indexed.
The screenshot below shows the Impressions and Clicks so far since I began the site on February 18.
I am not suggesting that everybody rush out and try this, thinking it's a quick win.
I am using a very specific set of prompts and keywords and structuring the posts and the site to suggest that there is a lot of human input.
And, of course, Google could take exception to it at any time.
Plus, there is no guarantee it could make money, as it may not be accepted by ad networks or affiliate programs.
I will publish a full report when the site is three months old.
Until then, for anybody reading this, please don't ask for further details, I am not revealing the site or how I have done this!

I'll be curious to see the results you have in a few months. I'm currently following someone on another forum who is doing a case study on 4000 AI created posts. It's an aged site though so results likely will be different from a new site.
They initially had most pages indexed quickly, along with some decent traffic. I note today however they have indicated most of their pages have fallen in ranking and 86 have fallen out of the top 100 in search.
One interesting aspect they are doing is taking the posts that did well right out of the gate and rewriting them to give them the human touch. They are also testing that it is posts that will get penalized, not entire sites.
Looking forward to your three month report. The other challenge is only about two weeks old so hard to say if the fluctuations are just Google doing what Google does.

Hi - I did read of your recent shock when you discovered one of your hired writers was using AI.
And I completely agree with your decision to no longer use her services.
As I have emphasised, this is just a side project, and I wouldn't dream of using it on my "real" sites, or in my private client's posts.
And congrats on your first commission on your project!
Oh yeah, it was shocking indeed. If we wanted AI content, we could've done it ourselves instead of spending so much money!!!
The platform's decision was more shocking, they were clearly covering for their writer, at least that's what we believe.
