Hi, just went to back-up my website, using the all-in-one wp migration plugin which I had installed a while back. this has now been blacklisted by WA.
Why? And what's anothe
Hi Dale, I had the same experience, and Support advised me to use the UpDraft plugin. It works fine!
great Peter, that's all I needed to know. being independently capable of backing up our website is of utmost importance I believe. thanks so much
Hi Dale,
It's been blacklisted because all backup plugins create excessive load on the servers, as well as leave backup files around after they have been created - requiring unnecessary storage for your website(s).
WA hosting includes backups that are triggered after every update to your website. We create these in the way of a snapshot which is saved in the cloud and available to us in case of emergency. We keep these backups for 6 months minimum.
We also back-up website data in another fashion which includes the last 3 months worth of real-time data updates to your database.
Finally, all websites on the WA network are on TWO servers in case of hardware failure.
In regards to downloading backups, we are working to make this available upon request, and compatible with popular Backup Plugins so that folks can migrate websites more easily.
If you are in need of a backup plugin for a particular task then you may reach out to us using the SiteSupport system and we can discuss adding an exception to the blacklisted plugin for your website.
Cheers,
Carson
Hi Carson, thanks for your prompt and thorough response. It sounds like I don't need a back-up plugin then? However, I do like the thought of having my files and website backed-up in the instance of not being able to access the WA community and site support. That is, my own personal back-up to my device or cloud. What other plugin's would you recommend please? I really appreciate your expertise and time. Thank you
