Something else that a newbie shouldn't do.

This month has passed so quickly and I am now into my second month as a Premium member. The site is progressing, but here is one tip I discovered the hard way.

Don't mess with your Media Library.

Now, I am quite a tidy person. I saw that there were photos in there that I had already used in my posts, so I thought, I'll have a spring clean and delete them. BIG mistake. I shimmied along onto one of my posts to do some SEO optimisation and hey - no images. I had to go back and upload them again. I wasted my own time but I learned not to mess when I don't know what I'm doing.

Around the learning curve one more time! To everyone out there - it does get easier.

Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome, fastracks.

Great stuff!

Thanks, danbarth87

Hope they add a possibility to put the pics into folders, that library is really a mess

Hey Loes, what a brilliant idea. It would make life easier and would satisfy my need to "tidy up" the library. It is only going to get worse as I go on and on adding photos. What's the capacity of the library? Thousands?

1

I even haven't got the limit with my freeimages.siterubix.com yet, and there are all photo's uploaded in full format

OK, so pretty huge then,

Sadly, yes...

I can totally see myself doing this in days gone by. Yep, it's called a Library for a reason! Need the "books" to be in there in order to see them! :) Great lesson.

1

I never thought of that! Hah! - and I'm a big reader. The joke was on me.

We learn by our mistakes my friend

1

Yes, you're right, and I will never forget this lesson.

thanks for sharing!

Thought it might stop someone else from being an idiot like me.

You'll learn.

The amount I have learned in the past month would fill an enormous encyclopaedia. Didn't know my brain had so much spare capacity.

That is what we call experience. Sometimes we goof up and learn, other times we learn from others. But even though it is an inconvenience to learn the hard way, we hopefully will never forget it.

Keep smiling! As a wise sage once said, Learn to laugh at your mistakes and you will be entertained for a lifetime! :))

I'm getting a lot of "experience" at the moment with plenty of goofs. Today I laughed it off - sometimes I'm more stressed about it if I'm short of time.

Awesome lesson learned.
No harm done, great news.

And if it stops some other newbie from doing it then so much the better!
