I am going to transfer
Target Date: January 27, 2014
Hey WA friends,
Yes, I am going to transfer all my domain names from Go Daddy to Name Cheap. I’m sure some of you have received the email from Name Cheap about their special promotional on January 27. I won’t review all the details of that email, but you can transfer your domain name for 3.98. Not only this, but they will ADD an additional year onto your name for free.
For example, one of my domain names expires in February of 2016. That means that I would get a free year to February 2017. Ok, so it’s only about 8.00 savings (12.00 name fee minus 4.00 transfer fee). But still, it’s nice.
Actually, I called Go Daddy where I have been a customer for 8 years. I asked them if they had a better deal. And his response was that they had better technical support. (Translation: NO, we don’t have a better deal). In fact, they would charge me 15.00 to add a year. I pointed out the obvious that that was not a good deal when I could get a free year at Name Cheap. And his only response was to take that deal. Wow….that’s it. That’s how the conversation ended. I was surprised. And so, ends an 8 year relationship. I’m going to take the Name Cheap deal.
It's time to move. I got a lot of domain names to pack up.
What do you think?
Are you guys going to transfer?

Thanks for this PastorTae - is the transfer easy? Perhaps you could author a blog on how to do this. Glyn
ok. I haven't done it yet. It's on January 27. So I have some time to get ready and talk to GoDaddy and also NameCheap. Afterwards, I will be blog my experience. Thanks
Hey Glyn, just to confirm. This promotional from NameCheap is a ONE day event on January 27. I will be doing it on that day. If I write about it afterwards, it might be too late for anyone who is still considering it. The best thing to do is to go to NameCheap and consider it before the day approaches.
My relationship with GoDaddy was short and sour. I didnʻt like their upsells. They are not has bad a WIX. I registered a URL with WIX for free. When it came time to renew, they charged me $50. If you donʻt need cPanel, WA is definately the hosting service of choice. NameCheap is my choice for registering URLs. If you notice, WA provides a lot of the security and backup features you would need to use cPanel to configure in other services.
yes. And I know someone who plans to transfer a whole bunch of names and so he will save hundreds of dollars.
I've got about 15 I think. So sounds like its about $16/domain? $12 ➕ $4. Good to take advantage of a deal!
I got the email, but already have all my domains with Namecheap
Just wanted to say that this guy you talked to at GoDaddy should never work with sales, that is NOT how to do it......
Normally, yes, or you will soon get an email asking how satisfied you were with your support experience........
Sounds like a smart move! I am there because Kyle recommends Namecheap as being the most reasonably priced and because they remaining consistent in their pricing! Christa :)
great. I have about 8 names over there at GoDaddy and some I will let expire and others I will transfer. Spring cleaning came sooner than I expected.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/imc Brother Tae, Before you let anything expire(your domain names) talk to Ian. He is very helpful & knows about "Domain Flipping" (-: Jon
ok. I will contact him. That was the purpose of posting this, so that I can gain insights before I make the transfer. Thanks
That's what I bought my new Android phone for... Multitasking!!! Haven't failed ya yet, now have I? (-: Jon
Good. I'm sorry Tae I wasn't very plain. Your old domains, Don't let them expire...They are just like real estate property and may be worth some money. That is what you really need to talk to Ian about OK. He can direct you on the process involved, just give him all the info on your domains & even a screen shot if possible. I'll leave you in his capable hands for now. Have a great day brother.(-: Jon
