What does cancer mean to you.
THE C
The C word we hear it so often, and most of us have been touch by it one way or another be it your mum or your dad, a family member, could even be a friend. For my wife and i it was my wife's sister, a healthy and vibrant woman who loved to party until the doctor said she had a lump on her breast. The day i will never forget, the doctor sent her to have a Mammogram and the biopsy so that was a Friday. Now my sister works on the mine's as a Health and Safety Rep, so on the Monday she had to go back. She need to take her mind off the delays in the results, so she decided to fly back. The flight is about 3 hours, she drove straight to work and started, then she got the call. They say she froze and they couldn't get a word out of her, then she wept but the sad thing she had no family with her. They tried to send her home that day but there was no flights so she had to wait the next day, my wife tried talking to her on the phone but she was a mess. She finally got home, she gave wife a big hug and started to cry, they had coffee and spoke for hours. My beautiful wife Natasha has drop everything to be by her sisters side, take's her to the doctors appointments and to the chemotherapy and radiation treatments. My sister Diana(i call her my sister) has bad days where she can hardly talk or move her body and she has days she doesn't even look like she has cancer. We keep her as motivated as we can keeping her positive and away from negative things. They have catch it early, cut most of it out but she will have to remove her breast. So my wife and i wanted to do something for our sister and every woman out there fighting the same battle.
As my sister has lost her hair now, she said to me before the treatments if i loss my hair she said, you are cutting yours off. Well their is a little story to my hair i have been growing it for 30 years it's what they call a MULLET, if you remember Billy Ray Cyress in the 80's. So my wife and i decided to make it a big event and have a Fun raiser and chop it for a good course BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION. It's on the 22nd of February, we are having a sausage sizzle, raffles and all donations are going to the BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION. It,s going to be a fun day to see a grown man cry, so the reason i am here is to turn to the COMMUNITY and dig deep. If you have been touched, by cancer be it yourself or a love one and as many of you don't live in Perth, please donate to prevent BREAST CANCER and hopefully cure it one day. What ever you can donate would be much appreciated from the bottom of our hearts and it will make you feel special. If you live in Perth Western Australia you are welcome to come along leave me a text and i will forward the address if not here is the site nationalbreastcancerfoundation.everydayhero.com/au/natasha-1 every donate brings us a step to the cure.
Sincerely Nelio

There are never any words that can convey how I feel about cancer, I lost my mum too young and step mum to it, but like you they had a good positive attitude my prayers are with you all for many have won the battle take care
Many people do not understand the power of the spoken word and the power of prayer. Tell your 'sister' Diana we will pray for her.

My heart goes out to your sister and the family, cancer touches most families at some point.
For me, it was what my hubby died of last year, discovered very late with a very aggressive type there was no treatment for him.
Your sis has a loving family around her and that's the best therapy along with her treatment. Thanks for sharing your story. :)
G'day Kathy my heart goes out for you, thank you for your kind words and i will pass them on. Time heals all but they are never forgotten may your journey be filled with peace and happiness
I think nobody like the word cancer, will send a pm to you. Nelio, Ask yr sister-in-law to be strong and courageous!!
Thank you for sharing your story with us. This is a cause which is close to my own heart . I lost a friend to breast cancer last year and my mum had a mastectomy when she was in her forties - she's now in her seventies and still going strong ! Each year I do a few charity fitness workouts and we donate the money to various breast cancer charities. Every little bit helps and I really believe that we are close to finding a cure - my heart and prayers go out to your sister and family at this time !
