2018 Income and Traffic Projections
It's very exciting to sign up for an internet marketing or online business training program when you see "shocking" success stories.
"Teenage kid makes $30,000 in just 3 months"
"I doubled my traffic overnight with this secret system"
Though many of these stories are actually true (I've seen some incredible ones with my own eyes, within Wealthy Affiliate), the truth is that most of us normies have to do it the hard way - with work!
My own websites are a great example of this. They are slow to progress, but are definitely moving in the right direction.
Though it's frustrating to not see daily increases in traffic and earnings, when I zoom out, and look at my progress YOY (year over year), things start to look more encouraging.
I started a new website in June 2015. By November of 2015, I had earned just $100 total. Imagine how frustrated I was! Five months and no earnings despite having several years of online marketing experience.
By November of 2016, the website was earning $460 per month. That's almost a 400% increase in revenue from 2015 to 2016. (side note: the website earned $2,000 in December due to Christmas shopping)
For November 2017, the website will earn $1900. That's a 300% increase from last year!
If we take that same 300% increase and look into 2018, by next November I should be earning $7600 per month. That sounds like a pretty good income!
By 2018, I will have worked on my website for 3 years. What's your time horizon for seeing success? 3 weeks? 3 months? Look at 3 years instead, and see how much you can accomplish in that time period.
2018 Income and Traffic Projections

- Nov 2015: 7,000 p/m
- Nov 2016: 13,400 p/m (91% increase)
- Nov 2017: 40,000 p/m (198% increase)
- Nov 2018 120,000 p/m (200% increase, projected)
Income

- Nov 2016: $460 (360% increase)
- Nov 2017: $1900 (313% increase)
- Nov 2018: $7600 (300% increase, projected)
So to wrap things up: if you measure your progress on a day to day basis you're going to drive yourself crazy thinking you're failing all the time. Follow the WA training, get a good schedule of both taking action and learning, and start grinding out the work.
Check in on yourself next year, and you'll be shocked at the results. I can see the headline now!
Complete newbie builds profitable internet business in less than one year for just $313

You are right on this one Nathaniel, looking back at my progress, I see growth as well. It shows that consistency does work. Great post.
Thank you for the inspiring article, Nathaniel! Very motivating for both newbies and existing WA members.
Thank you for sharing your success, it is very encouraging. May 2018 be exceptional for you.
Very motivational post. Just goes to show you consistent hard work, patience, and following the training here... success will happen sooner or later.
I’m curious to know though, are you still paying for the content on this site to be created. And secondly how many post would you say is published weekly on it?
Keep up the great work look forward hearing the results next year at this time.
Very inspiring. I will definitely take your advice. It’s all about thinking long term and setting actionable goals. Thanks for this inspiring message.
That's the key is to think long term and view this like a marathon. Too often I see people giving this business unrealistic time frames for success. They go into it with an employee mindset. If I put in x amount or hours, I need to see x amount of dollars within x time frame. The reality is the effort you put now may not bear fruit for months down the line. But people give up before they see this. So I'm happy you laid this out in your post. Delayed gratification and consistency is the key.
Your posts are always inspiring and interesting.
I have noticed similar trends though on a MUCH smaller scale! If I look at the trend over a long period of time it is clear I am improving!
Thanks!

It does take time as it does with any other kind of business. It is only the few prepared to put in the consistent time and effort that will come out as winners.
