Two Months In! - That Wall Hurts
So far I have made it two months and it has been a ride. Here is the summary of my journey...
The Start...
I stumbled across Wealthy Affiliate by chance. I played around as a Starter member for about a week. At first I was worried about the $19 deal running out, but simple math won and I went for the annual membership (plus it aligned with my year for my domain).
It took me all of 9 days to have my first test of patience. I had a few comments, but they helped me tremendously! One day later I had found my footing and began rolling along.
Goal Setting
Throughout my first month I would get frustrated, post a blog, get a comment that helped, and begin rolling along again. Even though I was frustrated, I was still working at my website.
I decided to set goals and that helped me make it through February. I was enjoying working through my goals and having a great time. The only thing missing was any traction on the search engines.
My Plan...I missed something
Yup, patience. I thought if I went quickly through the training I would get onto Google faster and begin making money. Well, time is what helps your website get found and I was trying to speed that up.
Well...you can't speed up time. So I found myself stuck for a bit because my vision for my site was not matching reality. I wanted to start with a how-to for beginners and then I would gain traction and move into a more advanced how-to.
Social media was still there...not good, but not bad...just there. But I was still enjoying my time and seeing some progress until...
Real Life Happened
My real job decided to require more hours. I was kind of tired and frustrated with work so I couldn't devote the time to my website that I wanted.
I still felt like I was on my journey...just driving along...and suddenly...it felt like my car ran straight into a wall. I can't really describe it, but the stress of my job had sucked all of my motivation out...
Now I can't seem to get it back. I wanted to celebrate my 2 month milestone, but I am sitting here trying to finish one of the many posts I have started.
Where To Go?
I need a vacation from work so I can dive back into my website. Until then, I just need some motivating comments to pick me back up. I will make this work and this is just a speed bump in the road.
I just wish it would have waited a little longer...

Hey Nate we have all been there but it does get better. Really I have had so many times of frustration I have lost count. Go back and read some of your old posts for motivation you have accomplished a lot so far in a small amount of time. Take the time to be proud of yourself and celebrate.
Heck I was living in my car a few months back yet I am still standing and plugging along LOL
The important thing is to remember why you started here to begin with..like a lot of us I am sure it is to get rid of the rat race..but also be proud of the fact you are now building your OWN business not somebody elses. OK I am rambling now... reach out if you need help,a virtual hug or a kind word anytime
Cathy
Thanks Cathy. I will keep using my old posts for inspiration. Every comment like this and the others I receive are good to go back and look at.
Cheers!
Nate
I know how you feel Nate, I started 6 months ago, and it was the slow season for the restaurant I work at, now it is getting busier and will get even busier for summer, my website is already suffering from it, I pray for my weekends as during the week it is all I can do to make it to 9pm without crashing out. I fall asleep at my computer just like my college days lol.
I refuse to give up though!! I started this for very good reasons and by golly I am going to be successful!! And so are you, we can do this!!!
Best of wishes,
Stacie
Thanks Stacie. I hear you on falling asleep on the computer.
You are absolutely right...we WILL do this.
Cheers!
Nate
Consistency, persistency and perseverance will determine your level of success. Don’t give up and forget your ultimate goal. You need to be doing this for another couple of years at least. Remember that this kind of business is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck!
Nate is does take time and I've found I've had to cut out everything at night that distracts me, like T.V. Facebook etc,
Also, maybe you could look at your job from a different angle, be grateful that you've got an income coming in while you learn! It's harder when the pressure is really on with no other income to rely on. So maybe just tweak the way you're looking at it and get rid of the distractions. Hope to see you break through soon. ))
Thanks Janice. I love the advice! Rather than focus on what is keeping me down, I will continue to be thankful for what I have...as a normally optimistic person I guess I lost that.
Cheers!

Hey mate dont stress i am in the same boat started WA when i had time off and was flying and then like you the reality of work kicked in. All i do is try to do one to two posts a week and just take my time some nights we have to just chill and i think it is something all of us to remind ourselves, this not a race and it is our intervidual journey so enjoy the ride thats what i tell myself to keep going. Good luck , keep going and remeber if we keep at it our jobs will turn into this have a great day Paul
Thanks Paul. I agree that if we stay at it this could become our jobs. I would gladly take it
Hey Nate,
Just don't push yourself to hard.
I understand the fruatration with feeling like I am not doing enough.
That frustration has led me to lose hope and belief this will work.
Seek inspiration from those succeeding here but remind yourself you will get there on your own terms and time.
Think of it as going to college. You might have to invest a while into creating content, eventually it will pay off by following the lessons.

Thanks for the inspiration. I just needed the reminder from someone who has been here that it will come.

It's important to find members you can turn to for support, guidance and to pick you up when you are struggling.

Hi Nate
Yes as others have stated we have all been in a similar situation hoping the Google will get us indexed and ranked with the posts we have created.
As you have stated we can't speed up time however we can make greater use of time in creating more posts along the way.
That way you are not thinking when but knowing that you are doing the work now in the present moment and that is where the focus will be towards your success.
Keep believing in yourself and enjoy all that you are doing and like the saying goes " Do what you love and love what you do"
Keep that focus and you will do well and time will reward you when you least expect it.
Also remember any challenges you face are just lessons waiting to be learned towards your progress forward.
Wishing you well and always remember you have support and help here in WA
Just know you are doing great as many don't even get as far as you have already achieved to date.
Andre
Thanks Andre! Your insight is always appreciated
