Wisdom

The older I get, I know the wiser I am becoming. But then, I thought what exactly is wisdom and how do I explain wisdom?

So, I looked up the definition of wisdom:

“Wisdom is the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense and insight.

In short, wisdom is a disposition to find the truth coupled with an optimum judgment as to what actions should be taken.

Wisdom and knowledge have different meanings, but are often portrayed as synonyms.

This is corrected by giving an example:

it's wise to run a successful business because wisdom includes action. It's nothing more than smart to write a business plan proposing a successful business because knowledge is strictly cognitive.

The difference in knowledge is knowing it; wisdom is doing it.”

- Wikipedia

Some of the synonyms of wisdom:

experience, knowledge, balance, discernment, clear thinking, good judgment, horse sense, and sageness

Perhaps, this is why the older we get, the wiser we can get – because we live life – we don't just gain knowledge but we do things and take action.

My husband and I are reading books on how to be successful and rich and we realize that it is not just important to read them, but to apply them to our lives.

This is what I appreciate about WA, with the training course and the community, we are learning by 'knowing how' but also by 'doing the actions' in our journey to success.

Wisdom is knowing WA is right. Thanks MyraBeth for this post.

Wisdom is a life long training and then the know how.

That puts everything on a nut shell , wisdom is the fun total of our experiences good and bad.

Learning from experiences and mistakes produces wisdom.

Without a doubt, wisdom comes with age. Or, rather, wisdom comes with experience.

I find that as I get older its easier to apply the experiences I have had to new situations. Thanks for the great post.

I think of wisdom as the quality of having good judgement, which can come from learning from our mistakes.
Erica

I would like to think that we can learn good judgement- even without making our own mistakes. As I told my daughter, many times, that she doesn't have to make all the mistakes herself, she can learn from other people's mistakes, including learning from her mother's mistakes.

I always looked at wisdom as the practical application of knowledge

I like that sentence. Wisdom is the practical application of knowledge.

I haven't looked up the meaning of wisdom. Thank you for doing that.
I think I was quite right when I called my online structure: "The Wisdom Factory - a platform for people who have experience, knowledge and wisdom to share with the world". Trying to reach higher levels of truth, yes.
And getting older seems to be often connected with entering into some wisdom. Our next series is about that!
I wish you the fulfillment while living your dream!
Heidi

Taking action defines the beginning of every step but guides you to a final destination. So make it a point to start anyhow if you don't know how to do it.
