Happy International Woman's Day!
Hello Dolls,
This is all about the women in our midst today...sorry Guys, we still love you but today it's our dedication to the fabulous women among us.
Happy International Woman's Day to all the women here at WA as well as all over.
How did it all start?
It all started after a famous strike.
5 Facts:
1. It was first celebrated on February 28, 1909, in New York. It was to commemorate the 1908 strike of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union when 15,000 workers, including immigrants, where the march was to demand social and political rights.
2. The first modern International Women’s Day was held in 1914, five years after its inception, on March 8. This day was chosen because it was a Sunday, and most of the women would not be working which would give them the opportunity to participate in marches and other events, and has been celebrated on that date ever since.
3. The day was declared a national holiday in the Soviet Union in 1917, and was predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted by the UN in 1977. Since 1996, the UN has assigned a theme to every IWD. This year’s theme is “Be bold for change”.
4. According to the UN, it is “a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an opportunity to reflect on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.”
5. It is an official holiday in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Mongolia, Vietnam and Zambia and for women only in countries including China, Madagascar and Nepal.

nice to learn the history of International Women's Day but this year in this country I believe women are also looking at it as a protest towards the President because of his attitude about women---not meaning to sound political just that go back and watch published of things he's said about women in the past
Here is a related article about Shanti Solomon--

Here in my country, Philippines, we celebrate the Fellowship of the Least Coin. . .
The Netherlands is fourth on the list of best countries to live in for women, right after Sweden, Norway and Danmark, so I am a lucky woman, there are still a lot of countries where women are suppressed.
