Niche Or Not
Well... I'm having a very difficult time getting to my Niche Websites. I just mentally feel drained when I start heading over to them to work on a few things and I'm not really sure why. Now when I work on my Wealthy Affiliate sites I get pumped up, creative and can't wait to get going! When I start doing the research for my other sites I just feel like I swallowed something that didn't sit well in my stomach.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so... what do you think caused it and how did you over come this?

I'm probably only saying what others have said, but you're niche does have to be something you have a big interest in.
My niche is something that has been part of my life for over 40yrs and I have a lot to say about it. So writing about it comes easily (well so far anyway) to me.
And that's why I picked it as a niche, because I feel strongly about it. I wasn't thinking about making money from it or whether or not it would be popular. I just thought this is something I know about and it means a lot to me and I have stuff to say about it.
That seems to be working for me as I'm enjoying myself and am not having to force it.
Hope I've said something that might be helpful to you :-)
Thank you! I do think I need to find something that I am passionate about outside of WA in order to make a niche website work for me. So I have been thinking about deleting the other 2 websites that I just can't see to get to and starting over... I might just leave them there though until I'm for sure about it for a little while longer. THanks for the advice!
April, it probably means you picked the wrong niche for your other website. Check my article about this, I think it may give you some perspective: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/eddysalomon/blog/should-i-pick-this-niche
I hope this helps.
Eddy
Thank you Eddy... that's good article. My first year of college I majored in music, but REALLY liked my Anthroplogy class and considered changing. But years later when I decided I was going to go back... that change really wasn't what I wanted either. So I went back to Music, which is my love. I have be really be careful with this. I have SO many interests. I will be taking my time on the Niche selection and concentrate for on WA for now until I am sure. Maybe WA IS my niche!
Eddy I have come to a conclusion! I am going to turn what I already do into my niche websites! This will help me to market the two businesses I already have outside of the online world and give them exposure on the Internet. In other words it will help market them. And will help me manage my time better. I can also use the tools I have learned here and use the affiliate marketing on these websites... but very gently. I don't want to turn off any of our customers. I already have 2 websites that I built. The one www.GGADNews.com is for my hubby's video and audio production company. I have grown sick of the website itself and have been wanting to turn it into something a little more like the websites that are in wordpress. Simple, professional and easy to navigate. Also our restaurant could use some exposure outside of facebook and the other website I was building.. I want to change that too. I didn't feel like it was being built with the right software and hosting. So I'm going to bring it to wordpress. I'm hoping this will be a good thing and will solve the problem I'm having with niche websites.
MrsGlarner, I also have sooo many interests that it was becoming mind fogging to decide on which one to make my niche so just recently decided to go with WA & once I've learned how to get going then I'll go with an other interest.
April I think that's an awesome conclusion and makes total sense. Everything you're learning here can definitely be applied to the two existing businesses and will help them grow online. So that was a stroke of genius on your part.
I always cringe when I see that business use Facebook pages as their website presence. One you don't really own it. FB can and does shut down accounts and pages all the time. So all that effort and energy to promote your FB page cane be lost in a matter of minutes. But whb you own your site you're in control.
And even if they don't do that to your page, what is to say FB will be popular forever. So it's another reason to have and focus on your own site. So I think this is a great direction you're headed in! I'm so excited for you and look forward to helping you with this. Eddy
That's great! Thank you Eddy! I appreciate the support! And you're right about the popularity aspect of facebook, too. I had considered that it won't be popular forever.... kinda like myspace. Something better will come along.
Follow your heart. Things that we feel in our heart is a sum of all the energy we gather from around us. If you feel drained w/ your niche websites, perhaps it's time to move on. Negative energy just creates more of the same and that's not what you want.
Debbi, I totally agree with you. Negative energy can suck you in. If you get a bad feeling MrsGlarner then there isn't any love for the niche and you should move on to something you can't wait to get creative with. Success to you!
I complete agree with Both of you Sui_generis and Profmiss. Thank you for the helpful advice. I do have love for those niches, but not enough to keep me moving in that direction. I am the kind of person who acts with purpose and I just don't believe in the purpose behind the two niches I found enough to proceed. That alone brought me a lot of negativity. I'm purpose driven. I hope that makes sense.
Maybe it is time to reevaluate the other website. I am sure you will come up with your conclusions. THINK: Would I work on this website even if I was successful, getting paid, or have any traffic to it? You can ask your own questions too. Change can be a good thing too. All the best to you....keep at it! :)
Thank you ahen205... I really agree with your point of view as well. I'm re evaluating. Going to work on the WA sites for now. I think maybe that is what I need to do.
Have you thought of transferring your other websites here? Or, even delete the ones you are no longer on fire about?
I have thought of deleting the ones I'm no longer interested in, yes. And I have considered transferring the other two sites that I have built for our businesses. There's www.ggadnews.com for my husband's Video and Audio Production Studio that I have created and there's also a website for our restaurant, The Corner Coffehouse & Bistro. You know what, Gordi? I think you just provided the answer to my problem!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU! I'm going to turn our businesses into the niche. At first I was afraid to do this because I didn't want our customer's to be put off by it, but now I can see how that can benefit us! :) BRAVO! Thank you Gordi!
I totally agree with mackiejw, Mrs. Glarner. Bit by bit of what you really want to discuss, and what you truly believe in. Before you know it, you've created an interesting blog, then overtime, you've got a great website ready to show to the world.
Thank you Jen! I've come to some great conclusions with all of the replies I have received from this blog!
They didn't build Rome in one day, did they? Patience and hard work will get you there. Bit by Bit and not overnight.
John
You all have helped me so much! Thank you mackiejw for taking the time! I would have been still lost without all of this awesome support! And you are right on! They didn't build Rome in one day! I have to remain patient with myself and my progress!
You have only so much time in a day. I would put it where you get the best production. If you are pumped and the creative juices are flowing for your WA sites go and work on that until you feel the same enthusiasm to go back to your Niche sites. Then it will be win-win.
That's what I do. Make life easy and do what you love.
Right on! Time is an important factor in this business! With kids and hubby and housework and 2 other businesses time sure can be hard to find. I've decided to turn my niches into what I am already involved in. It is my belief now that this will help with my time management and progress. Work with Purpose! :) Thank you for your help!
Well my problem is I have a hard time overcoming the "I want it now" thing. We must stay focused, make a plan, follow your plan and it will work out in the end. What we are doing is building a Home Business ,it will not be easy, it will be awesome when we finally get it done. Hang in there keep up the good work.
