I asked my 9 yr. old daughter what a blog was..
She said it's when you write about something you like and put it on the internet. I don't remember telling her that, so maybe they are teaching kids better at school, these days? I don't know much about blogging. I just know how to speak my mind. Like when I got my first manual typewriter, (i'am showing my age), and I typed away on it. The keys kept getting stuck, it was horrible to type on that thing. The only thing it helped with was you had no choice learning where the keys were because you had to get it right or it looked like this: eiowjvlmvajeifdklvmzl! It was a scream!
And scream I did when I didn't get my writing reports done sometimes cause the ribbons would mess up all the time. I vowed, 'when I grow up i'am gonna work for a better typewriter
company'. It's funny though, cause I did years later thru a temp. agent, and worked for Devon
Systems Corp. They made the typing balls that when back and forth while you were typing and
drove you crazy! So after a few more years I got my first computer. It was a Brother computer
and couldn't go on the web. But it was like heaven to me, to be able to finally type away for hours on end. But I didn't have anybody to see it. So I got bored with typing. And it was pretty
noisy... Plus, I was at the library a lot to print college papers and wish I could print at home..
And now, let's fast forward to 2012. And I finally have an audience but it's too late now I think
cause now, I don't know what to talk about. I could talk about me, but then you'd be bored. I could write about someone else but then, probably someone else already did that.So what to talk about? When I could talk about how lucky you young people are with all this technology.
my day, didn't know that computers would take over the world. I wish our high school teacher
had told us girls to learn computer programming. Only the boys were told to do that. And we didn't even date them could we called them 'nerds'. Well, I wonder now how many girls in Bill
Gate's high school class wish they had dated and took the time to get to know him...Lots!!
And finally computers took over every job that I was doing at a top bank I worked for. But the
one thing the computer couldn't do was walk. I got out of the office everyday to walk to the post office to pick up the Audit Department mail. I was so nice to get out of a stuffy office.
And now in 2012, we can be are own bosses and work out of our homes, doing pretty much
anything we want. And finally we can type away and have some listen to us. It's so cool, you
would never know how cool it is until you don't have it anymore. We have to say thank you to
the earlier 'geeks' in the world that made it all happen. Thanks guys, and I will not laugh at
your glasses anymore. Now that I 'am old and wear my own. To all with love..momatwork40.

Remember upgrading to the selectric? Yeah, I was one of those nerds. First computer job was feeding cards into the PDP 1140 (Google it, it was as big as the room) for the new students learning coding. All I did was make sure they didn't get out of order and hit the Cntrl C buttons when they programmed in an infinite loop.
My first portable computer weighed 28 pounds, had to schlep that 1/2 way across the country for a job. Screen was 3" square and programs were loaded from a tape.
Boy has technology come a long way.
I remember the bank made us take Computer Studies classes at Pierce Jr. College it was then. And the professor and all the students, overheard me say to my finance, 'Hey, Larry, I wish they could make that computer thing smaller so that it could fit on my kitchen table then I could put my homemade receipts in it'. And they all stopped talking and looked at me like I was crazy..'. And now I have a file full of receipes..funny huh!
Yup, I sure wish I had taken computer studies in high school. But it was the same at my school, computers were a boys thing and the girls did sewing and cooking classes-and you'd never date one of them. Well written post btw.
You have a talent for writing, you will do great blogging :)
I build a site with my 8 year old, here is post about it

If your kids have an interest in websites and blogging involve them. You will be teaching them great useful lessons.
Best of luck to you,
Veronica
It sounds like to me, you express yourself rather well. :) I barely remember typewriters. I remember playing with one and intentionally typing all the keys at the same time to try to get it stuck. Fortunately, I never had to type a paper on one. I can imagine how painful that would be.
I was painful to type especially when I had to do a school paper on 'Gone with the Wind'. I read that whole book. I loved that line, 'Frankly Scarlet, I don't give a ******'!
I lived in Paris, Tenn. and in the country. I wish I were there now with the wind..
ps. I 'am thinking of writing a book about that place in stark contrast to Philly, Pa..

You are going to do very well with this if you like to write and you know how to speak your mind. And on top of this, you have your 9 year old granddaughter to keep you in the know of the latest technology.
Kids these days know technology, in fact my 3 year old nephew knows how to use an iphone. He knows where to find his apps, he knows how to play all the games, he knows how to find the pictures and swipe through pictures. The kids growing up these days are going to be calling us old when we say "I remember when there were no apps...". lol
Awesome post!
