I've been conned by Wealthy Affiliate - A Scam of the highest degree

Kyle and Carson don't deliver on what they promise.

The Wealthy Affiliate training is not what was expected.

The WA community is crazy.

I think that this is the one and only time that I can say, that I am glad that I've been conned or caught in a scam. As with so many other "opportunities", I signed up to WA thinking, "Well, at least this one is free to try." and, "There is nothing to lose", and when it doesn't deliver, "oh well." and, "Going to be another, been there / done that opportunity."

Truth be told, the only thing that I was conned out of, or scammed on, was the expected disappointment. I really could not be happier with what Wealthy Affiliate delivers.

Kyle and Carson don't deliver on what they promise.

I'm a newbie, I started on October 6, 2018. I realize that WA is a pretty busy platform with thousands of active members. Kyle and Carson have developed some pretty good tools and have put a lot of training together. They encourage others to follow in their footsteps and learn from their hard work, and from their mistakes. They are successful (really successful), and I am excited for them.

One could expect that having reached this level of success they would take on a more "hands off" approach to the whole thing, and let others do the "grunt work" of handling the newbies. This is not true and I have proof. They are just as "hands on" as they have ever been.

I was thrilled a couple of weeks ago when I got a note that Kyle, and shortly after, that Carson, were following me. I was so excited that I commented to my wife telling her that, "the co-owners of WA are following ME".

And not only are they following me, they even left me a note inviting me to stop by their personal page to say hi to them. With that invite, I didn't wait for a second, and I headed over and I dropped each of them a few words of greetings, and thanked them for the amazing platform they had developed.

I could not believe that both of them answered me back. One encouraging me about it getting more exciting as things go forward and offering help (his help) if I needed anything. The other thanked me for thanking them and then offered to look at MY website. After actually looking at my website, he congratulated me on following the training and then gave me some tips on how to improve my ranking and make the process run smoother.

Kyle and Carson do not deliver on what they promise... they deliver MORE than what they promise. I've experienced it firsthand. Put in the work and you will get more from these guys than you bargained for when you signed up.

The Wealthy Affiliate training is not what was expected.

One of the carrots dangled in front of a prospective member is "10 free lessons, no strings attached". It is a pretty enticing invite, but watch out, as the story takes an interesting twist.

Once you finish the Level 1 Training, you will have a functioning website. Literally. And when you finish Level 1 Training, you will be clamoring for Level 2 Training. It's that good and that effective.

But that's not all, because after Level 2 comes Level 3, and then Level 4, and then Level 5, and that does not include the Boot Camp Training nor all the other topic specific Training available to members.

Yesterday, I started following a couple of the veterans (some more experienced members on WA). Within a few hours, I had received a comment from three of them welcoming me to WA and offering their help. One member indicated that they have developed training based on all the problems that they encountered as they moved forward in this program. Another member indicated to me that they have developed training videos that coincide with and complement the Training videos that Kyle has put out. The other member indicated to me that she has a blog highlighting what she considers to be the "best of" training videos archived by topic.

The Wealthy Affiliate training is not what was expected. It is more detailed and more abundant than what could realistically be anticipated. You'll never run out of things to learn, nor learn everything that could be learned. But you can keep very busy learning.

The WA community is crazy.

Struggling and learning together is crazy. But that is a good thing, because that way, all come out ahead. The community as a whole, wants you to succeed, and works together so that those who really want it, actually do succeed.

We all know that the world is mostly a "win at all cost" world. Whatever needs to be done to get ahead, will get done, regardless of the collateral damage. What I find fascinating at WA is that there are a number of members genuinely wishing others all the best. Sure there are a few lurkers around WA seeing if they can make a quick buck, but they don't last long, because sadly, they don't get it. But there are lots of members who not only wish you the best, they are helping you be the best that you can be.

Newbies who are learning, and struggling, and feeling overwhelmed, are quick to offer help and tips based on their own difficulties and experiences. Even though they are busy trying to get a handle on things, they offer support, encouragement and advice so that others can either avoid the problems, or resolve them quickly and keep focused on moving ahead and continuing towards success.

Why would a Newbie do that? Apart from getting a "better ranking" within WA, there is not much direct advantage to helping someone else succeed on their website, when you could be working on your own and your own success. But it is a guiding principle in WA, and it is implemented from top to bottom.

The environment established by Kyle and Carson, and echoed by the ambassadors, is that of hard work, community, and paying it forward. It is an environment that is pleasant to work in, and be a part of, and stimulates members to emulate the founders and their principles.

The more successful members are looking to help out the newbies on a daily basis. Does it benefit them? Maybe somewhat. But when someone has produced 400 training videos on WA, I'm pretty sure that the time and resources spent on producing them could have yielded a much higher ROI in some other endeavor. In a real way, it is a sacrifice on their part to help out those who are coming behind them.

The WA community is crazy... crazy caring about other people, and crazy about helping other people succeed.

Action Point:

Sorry if I provoked an adverse reaction with the catchy title of this post :).

Great Post Mitch!!

I love to use those catchy titles myself. People get caught when they jump right in and start to read.

You have done a great job of explaining some of the great features of Wealthy Affiliate.

As one of the Ambassadors I can say the most of us have a heart of giving and we truly love helping others. There is a pleasure greater than monetary gain that comes from helping others.

This is why I do it and I'm sure the others will agree.

Again Great Post My Friend. Keep up the great work!!

- Glen B

Thanks Glen,
I appreciate your encouragement.

Thank you for all you have given so that others can also enjoy success.

It is truly a pleasure to meet you.

It's My Pleasure Mitch!

Well you nearly gave me a panic attack, but you did teach me a valuable lesson, that is to read all and not just some of your article to gain the whole facts and understand what you are really saying. my problem is I am so over-welmed with the volume and depth of knowledge available here that I find it a constant challenge to prioritise my time spent here at W.A. as well as on my training and website which is yet to flourish. Thanks for sharing and caring.

Sorry about that Alan. :)
I'm with you on being overwhelmed. I'm still trying to prioritize things as well. It's so easy to head off in one direction and get "lost" for a while and leave other aspects hanging.
Check out my blog on "Moving on up - on two fronts". I share what I try to do to make sure that all aspects of my "business" move forward a little bit every week.
Keep going at it little by little. And don't forget to "disconnect" every once in a while to clear your mind.
Keep in touch.

Click bait :-)

Great article, fun and serious.

Well done, Mitch, look forward to reading more of your posts.
Ian

Thanks Ian. :)
