What's So Cool About WordPress Anyway?
WordPress is easy to use but a lot harder to master -recognise anyone on the front page?
Here's Five WordPress Facts Found Across The Interweb
WordPress is no longer just a blogging platform. It is used by over 72 million websites and powers everything from simple blogs to full eCommerce sites.
Here are those five facts about the platform:
1) A Single Installation on WordPress.com...
...powers over 32 million websites. This really shows the power of the WordPress Multisite version.
2) WordPress has 53.8% of the Market Share
For CMS platforms, WordPress is on top followed by Joomla at 9.2% and Drupal at 6.7%.
3) Indonesia Loves Wordpress the Most
WordPress.com is the 8th most popular website in the country
4) What is Hello Dolly?
Creator Matt Mullenweg included this plugin from day one and it is included with every new install. It simply displays the lyrics to a song in the top right corner of your dashboard.. much to the annoyance of people who regularly create new WordPress sites.
5) WordPress is... Old
Just one week ago WordPress celebrated it's 10th birthday, which is a grand old age for any software.
Happy birthday WordPress!

Interesting information. I had no idea WordPress was so old. I am now following you, you seem to know your stuff!

I thought I was following you, but I guess I was wrong (I've been wrong before, too). That issue has been fixed.
Thanks for the interesting facts Tony. I didn't realise there was such a big gap between wordpress and joomla and drupul. I've built a couple of joomla sites in the past which I prefer but they're certainly not as simple to get off the ground as good old wordpress.
Cheers for dropping a comment BIS -
I'm intrigued to find out what you prefer about the Joomla platform
Hi Tony
I think I prefer Joomla because I cut my teeth on that first and I found I could be more creative with it, without having knowledge of any coding. Wordpress can have a very standard look about it. I haven't done a Joomla site for a couple of years and I must do or I'll forget all I learned.
I wish they would take that silly Hello Dolly thing off WP. I delete it every time I set up a new blog! I guess if that's the only thing I can find to complain about, that's not too bad! Great post.
And Wealthy Affiliate has integrated Wordpress as their main CMS platform for developing sites. We are only going to be further integrating it and solidifying the quality of website hosting, mointoring, back-ups and performance going forward. Also even more simplification and functionality to come!
Awesome post Tony!
Thank you for the nice trivia. Who would've known? Gained a bit a respect for the old platform. If it works don't fix it. 2323/6/3
There's an old tale I tell about WP & Carson that I won't go into now - but we all agree it rocks ,.. ;)
That's not fair!
That's iike offering me a cookie and snatch it away before I could have it.... :o
