oh the risks of the online world....and so unfortunate when that happens and we are left helpless. Hope there's a solution somewhere.
That happened to me the first time at SA. My article was copied by someone else and put it on his site. But you know what, he did not removed my links so every time someone clicks the link it goes to my site.
The truth we cannot do much about it:(
Happy to hear he kept your links :) I didn't do that. I've learned my lesson, no more putting website articles anywhere but the website lol
I have heard advice that we should separate article writing and website writing. Lesson learnt!
Sorry to hear this Michelle. This happened to another member here on WA. I hope there is a solution. We should be able protect our content that we sometimes spend hours to get just right.
Thanks :) Yes we should. If only there was a way to somehow embed a code in the words, invisibly lol but I don't think there is.
Makes it even more suspicious...If my situation I'd be thinking about who I had been sharing my excitement with lately. Just a thought.
The only place I shared it with was I duplicated it to SA before I realised what I had done, then went and took it down from there.
wow Can that happen to all of us ? and how did you find out?that word plagiarism. happened alot to Aleister Crowley,s epic poem "aha" how can we prevent it? or is it just like show biz where you just have to wear it?
No idea how to stop it, but Digger12 added a link to a site you can use to check and that's what I did :)
You can leave a message on the contact page. Maybe you could ask them to remove it there or you will turn them over to the webmaster. I have had them take some of my stuff down. Not the same site though as you are having this dilemma with. I know that a lot of times this does happen. But, it is worth a try.
did you do a whois on the domain? try to track down the host and tell them about the copyright infringement.

The bad news is you can't do anything about it the good news is google will punish whoever did it!!
I have a question about your comment jaker - will Google not punish both parties but only the one who posted the content 2nd?

Very nice. It's a very small price to pay to include a verbiage about contributor credit and the website. I just checked it, they have great images. Thanks for sharing.
Yes that's true there's plenty of pictures out there for free but of cause if you want to be separated by the lot you have to pay its always important to check Thou cause some time u can pay for something weren't you could have got it for free of cause give credit to the creator thanks for the link: here a few more links: Stock.XCHNG ,http://stockvault.net/,http://www.unprofound.com/
Again, be exceptionally careful, check out Stock.Xchng's 7.2 of their terms and conditions, about half way down the page here, http://www.sxc.hu/help/7_2 labelled *IMPORTANT and flagged. Members have received substantial bills and had DMCAs filed against their sites from using supposedly "free" image services. Rich.
Hey Michelle, as you suggest, I always recommend you read the terms and conditions, nearly all free image services will exclude liability, ie. in Free Digital Photos case, "Exclusion of liability. FreeDigitalPhotos.net provides images supplied by the Contributors in good faith but without any responsibility that the Contributor is entitled to place the image on the website. You are responsible for ensuring that Your use of any image complies with all laws and regulations which apply in the area where You publish or make use of the image." It's in 14a of their T&C's, http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/terms-and-conditions.php#terms14a In other words, I can upload this image http://d.pr/i/vSBg to them and someone else can download it and use it to illustrate a site about child abuse, STDs or incontinence products, as extreme examples. You would have the rights not only to claim for breach of copyright from the website owner but ask for substantial damages in regard to defamation. As Steve (@IveTriedThat) is fond of reminding me, "If it's free, YOU are the product!". Rich.
Hi Michelle - thanks for pointing this out to people.
If people are looking for images I did this training sometime ago. I checked to see if free digital photos was listed as I add to it every times someone recommends a site - which it is https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/where-to-find-images-for-your-website#

Thanks Michelle for the help, I have tried it and you don,t have give anybody any credits you just download and save.
If you click on a photo, check the free image download section. It will have a yellow triangle image. If you click that it says:
Attribution required
If you use this free image, you must publish an acknowledgement to FreeDigitalPhotos.net and the image creator on the same page or screen where the image is used.
Basically, you do need to give credit if using a free image.
Another great site is Flickr (use the advanced settings to find Creative Commons pictures). Also check out http://Sxc.hu too. :)

I can understand above the fold placement was important to begin with, as people were transitioning from newspapers to computer screens, but I'm wondering how relevant it is tod
I think content above the fold is very important because that is what will capture a reader's attention. If it does not capture a reader's attention within the first 10-15 seconds, the reader will most likely move onto something else and not bother to read anything below the fold. Time is precious, so most people, like myself will not spend time reading anything that does not capture attention.
I think it's very important, it usually determines whether someone reads it or not, is my opinion. I personally value time so to scroll the page if it doesn't immediately say what I'm looking for is a waste, so I move on.
I think grabbing the attention of the reader above the fold line is very important. Who wants to open a website and the first thing they see is an ad or ads? I want to see the meat and potatoes the site has to offer.
I agree with the comments below, the only time you need to be careful is having too many adverts above the fold with adsense.
I agree fully with the post below. People are very lazy in this aspect so you have to accommodate by putting relevant, important elements your readers would look for readily available to them.
It's just like the newspaper sitting in the newsstands. The content that would make sales of the newspaper must be above the fold because most people are not going to pick one up to see what's below the fold.
On the Internet, many people do not even bother to scroll down to see if what they are looking for is there, though some will.
LOL - Daniel - I don't consider myself lazy because I only scroll down if they have already captured my interest. Time is precious.
I'm talking about people in general. This is why I say that "most" people would not pick up a newspaper sitting there. Some do. I guess you are right though. People must be motivated to scroll down a page. It's a bit different than newspapers sitting on the rack unless they are purchasing one and otherwise won't pick it up.
It's still extremely relevant. If you don't capture people's attention through headlines, images, captions or specific words they may be looking for immediately, they won't bother to scroll down to search for it. JAKOB NIELSEN has done a huge amount of work on such issues if you want to find out more.

Just another site for great color schemes. I am a color moron, so this helps me to find colours that really match. Hover your mouse over the colors on the right of a picture to see the hex code of the colour.

Most of your content should be just as it is on this page. Albeit, for special effects, the site appears quite useful. I've bookmarked this site for the color contrast, not necessarily for text, but just to see how two colors work with one another.
Thanks for sharing this :)

The bad news is you can't do anything about it the good news is google will punish whoever did it!!
Good. I think all their articles are stolen to be honest.
