If you write an article that Google has ranked, is it okay to edit that article subsequently (not the keywords, but maybe change wording or add more to the article)? Will you l

You can edit and update an article when it's necessary.

Thank you very much!

It’s fine to add or update content in your post if you don’t change your keyword.
If it’s a big update of an old article then indicate the date you updated it

Noted...thank you FrankB!

It's actually a good thing to update content every now and again. That way google sees it as new content and gives it new indexing.

You can change as much as you like but be careful it can have 2 effects it can push you up or down the serps.

If making changes take a snap shot of where it's sitting then check in two months to see where it sits, if it's up great if down then revert back or change again.

Changing a word here or there won’t make a difference.

I understand this to be good practice. I seem to remember one of the videos was about reusing past content. I most certainly am not an expert but I hope this helps

This does help, thank you!

I'm glad that what little I know can sometimes be helpful!

So in the OEC training, it instructs to go back to old posts and add images. Once I add those images, can I republish article to WP via site content or do I have to add images

I agree, I always edit in WP and add images there.

As Diane said, I do edit some articles in WordPress after publishing from the site content.

I appreciate your response!

Thanks Jenell!

Hi - any changes have to be made directly in WordPress once a post has already been published.

Ok, this is good to know. Thank you Diane!

What is a good rule of thumb on how much content, time, or traffic should I have on my website before I start adding affiliate links?

Good suggestions below. Depending on what you are promoting you can start getting affiliate links and using them immediately. Like it was mentioned Amazon is going to want to see that you have content already on your site. So it depends on what you are doing and what you are promoting.

Mel

Thank you so much!

Hi

Your site need be ready and have some traffic before you apply for affiliate programs.

You would have written 20 - 30 posts and have some traffic to be able apply for affiliate programs as typically they will check your site for relevance and traffic prior approval.

For Amazon it is 10 - 15 posts. You also would have to make 3 sales in your first 180 days.

Once accepted, they've given you material and special tracking code links you can share on your site.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once they do, and in accordance with your affiliation terms and conditions, how commission payouts are tracked and paid. You need to read up how payments are made because different programs follow different rules; some pay by check others via PayPal or straight to your check account.

I would always adhere to your affiliate program terms and conditions.

Great information, thank you!

So very welcome.

Hello. My advice would be to follow the training. Good luck.

Thank you, I'm going through the training now.

I would say 25-30 good quality posts!

Jeff

Sounds good, I appreciate this!

No problem, Mia!

Jeff

I’ve never had an issue with affiliate links as long as your content is relevant and good quality. Don’t overthink it, put them in where and when it feels natural. You shouldn’t have an issue with it.

Thank you so much!

You’re most welcome
