Public Domain Day - More Important than my Birthday!
(Cover photo: Lots of books in a library)
Hi Everyone,
Public Domain Day in the United States is Jan 1st of every year.
What that means is another year of books that were published in the U.S. enter the public domain which is great news for someone like myself that reprints old books.
I actually thought I was in 2023 when I was looking at a great potential book to reprint and then just realized its 2024!
From WIKI: "Under the Copyright Term Extension Act, books published in 1928, films released in 1928, and other works published in 1928, enter the public domain in 2024."
The book in question is 1,170+ pages and that is not a typo. :-)
I think I might also break up the book into smaller books as well. This could be a project that covers the next year or two as I will continue publishing other titles as I have been.
I have now published 1,216 books and 307 ebooks.
On another front, I have completed my 2023 taxes and we have all the paperwork ready to send tomorrow to apply for an ITIN for Wen since she doesn't have a Soc Sec number. That's a great project to be wrapping up.
One of my daughters finally sent me the Mortgage Account number for my ex-wife so I can dispute that negative status on my credit reports which happened years after my divorce was finalized and I should not be penalized as such. So I will be calling them soon on that.
A very productive week for me so far and I hope it has been for you as well!!!
To Our Success!

Good morning Mel,
Thank you for a very interesting post.
The public domain is not something I know a lot about, but it is an interesting subject and I know many people have taken advantage of the concept.
I hope you can get your credit report sorted out promptly and quickly, that's very important.
Have a great day.
Roy
Thank you Roy!
