How I Finally Earned My Keep
This week I've been in high stress mode because my Wealthy Affiliate fees are due any day now. The benefits of my membership here are incalculable, and I don't want to ever give up this program. However, paying this bill each month usually leads to a row at home since I haven't earned commissions during the month to pay them. This morning, however, I finally turned a corner. I woke up to notices of two massive sales! And guess what?!? I've earned enough to pay for this month and next! Praise God -- it's an answer to my prayers!
There are two changes that I made this week that I believe led to these sales. First,in going back through various trainings about sales conversions, the one thing that stood out to me was the need to tell people what you want them to do. I've always been more the type to recommend or suggest rather than tell. But as an experiment this week, I added "Order [item name] Now" buttons to the end of my product review posts. Second, I didn't link to these products in any other way besides those buttons. In other posts, I've sprinkled affiliate links throughout. I can't remember now which trainer said it, but essentially each link in a post is a separate call to action. That can get confusing and overwhelming for readers. By contrast, one bright button at the end of the post makes it clear what you want them to do.
While I can't be certain this tactic will convert longterm, I can say that the two posts I adopted this strategy with are those that converted this week. We'll see how this continues to unfold, but I feel like I've finally had a breakthrough in understanding this process.
In the meantime, I don't have to stress about arguments at home over my Wealthy Affiliate membership fees this month or next! Woo-hoo!

Way to go! Thanks for the tips and encouragement. I'm still trying to get to the point where my monthly membership fee is covered and it can be stressful.
BTW, as a fellow crafter I love your website. One of mine is about polymer clay. Paper crafts is not something I've tried yet. Good job!
You're right, it can be. But you'll get there! I think we all just need to keep at it, and not be afraid to go back to the training and reevaluate what we're doing from time to time.
Deedee, well thought out and carried through. You might not be able to do this yet but when you do get more sales and if it is still in November, the 'boys' usually have a Black Friday special.
So far this has happened each year I have been here. What happens during November is that yearly membership goes on sale. It is quite a saving and even better the price you pay remains constant as long as you remain a member. (Hope this hasn't changed this year.) So keep your eye out as once you make enough money this is a great way to go yearly and not spend too much.
