Update? I have asked my followers to please stop by this blog and tell us where in the world they are. When I did this, this blog was visible without digging through my posts. So I am updating now so hopefully anyone that would like to share and read some very interesting responses can do this with ease.

Thank you and may God continue to bless you.

Marquette

Hi Everyone,

I read a lot of posts and many times I wonder where the person is from that I am reading about. This platform is so fascinating to me. I wanted to do a fun post today and hope many of you will join in and just give some interesting facts about you in general or specific. Here goes:

I am from Okmulgee, Oklahoma USA, North America; a small town of about 15,000. We are getting ready for prom and later graduation of our students that have met their requirements. I absolutely love seafood. Okmulgee was known for the pecan festival and made the largest pecan pie in the world. OSU IT is here and it is a wonderful school of Technology. It is a part of Oklahoma State University! Go Cowboys!

I would absolutely love to know anything fun about you and your culture. I especially want to know where you are from and is English your native language. Thank you for participating and your feedback. I do appreciate a like too.

I'm from Sulphur springs,Texas and like you its a small east texas town of about 15k. 80 miles east of dallas if anyone cares lol. I'm a huge texas rangers baseball fan and a monster university of texas fan hook em horns :P. and English is my second language I speak fluent Texan lol

Hi Michael,
I do understand that Texans have their own language. I love to go through Dallas not during rush hour though. Thank you for sharing.

I live in Oswestry, in the County of Shropshire on the border between England and Wales in the UK. We're a historical Market Town of around 11,000 people. During the wars between England and Wales in Medieval times, Oswestry changed hands between the two several times and was probably burned to the ground more times than any other town! Today it's a lot more peaceful I'm glad to say although rivalry between the English and the Welsh is alive and well, albeit on a friendly basis! The town is beautiful, vibrant, friendly and steeped in history with street signs often in both English and Welsh to reflect the different make up of the community. Before I moved here in December 2015, I lived on the Island of Anglesey off the North West coast of Wales. I was there for 11 years. Despite being 50, that was the longest I've lived anywhere. I served in the military for several years, as did my Dad before me and through that I've lived in different parts of the UK as well as in Germany (I was born in the British Military Hospital in what was then West Berlin), Gibraltar, Cyprus, Belize, the Falkland Islands and the Persian Gulf. My wife is Spanish. She was born in Madrid but has lived in the UK since the age of two when her parents came here as immigrants. So, my two Sons have an English Dad who was born in Germany, a Spanish Mum and they were both born in Wales. I wonder what that makes them lol :-)
Rich

Hi Rich,
Thank you for sharing. You have a lot of history. I think it is fantastic. Visiting the UK is on my bucket list.

Hello. I was born in NY state. Raised in Montana and moved to Alaska just before high school. I am currently in a small town in Mexico most of the year. We are currently looking to relocate to Washington when we are not in Mexico. English is my first language. Am slowly learning Spanish and took German eons ago though remember very little of it.
A country girl at heart but love a visit to the big city.

Thank you for sharing Linda. Greetings. I love to visit and will welcome when I can take long leisurely vacations. I would love to visit Alaska. I do not like extreme cold. I love small town living.

I don't like extreme cold either. Lol. Alaska is beautiful though. A great place to live and visit.

My brother lived there while serving in the army. He always said he wanted to go back. He hasn't yet. I would love to visit. In the summertime.

I hope you are able to.

You can pretty much follow my travels through my profile...but presently, and for good, my wife, Elizabeth, and the four of our nine children left in the household live in Demopolis, Alabama -- the West Central part of the State in an area known as the "Black Belt" because of the color of its soil...we have a fine educational system and a very rich history having been settled in 1817 by some of Napoleon's officers after his defeat at Waterloo...I have often commented that Demopolis is the smallest "cosmopolitan" community in the US...we have a rich and diverse cultural heritage, from the Cherokee and Muskogee Nations, to the Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto, the first European explorer to come through and whose travels left several Catholic Missions, one of which, St. Leo's, is my parish church, then there was a very large Jewish contingent which set up a stable economy Demopolis still enjoys...and other than two State Football Championships, three Girls Softball Championships, several prominent citizens who have held Federal posts, including Director of the FDA, and countless authors and painters, it is a quiet little, rural Southern town of about 10,000 souls...we are so far West in Alabama, we do most of our shopping in Meridian, Mississippi...that about covers it...

Greetings Arthur,
I love it. You have so much history. I have visited Alabama. The people I encountered during my stay were so friendly. That sounds privileged to go out of state to shop. Thank you for sharing.

I'm also in Alabama. Dead in the center, north Chilton County. I love Demopolis. I used to work for the publishing company that puts out your newspaper.

Boone?

Born in Texas grew up in West Texas in Ranch country, Lived most of my life in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Have a lot of family around Durant OK. Speak English and Spanish along with understanding most of a couple of other languages.

For the last 15 years I have lived in Kentucky.

Hi Bo,
You have a full life. This is great. I am familiar with Durant OK. I need to learn another language. Thank you for sharing.

I'm in Quebec, Canada (though some in Quebec like to think of it as their own country...). I live in Gatineau, which is just outside of Ottawa, Ontario. I used to drive in to Ottawa to work, but I am presently unemployed.

I'm originally from Montreal and I still miss it, but we moved to this are because my wife is a nurse from the Philippines and was having difficulty with French, so she is now working in an Ottawa hospital.

English is my mother tongue, but I also speak French. In school I studied Languages and Literature, picking up some Spanish and Russian, though it has been more than 20 years since I've used either language, so I'm down to a smattering of remembered words and phrases. I do like languages, though, and would love to learn Welsh (my dad's side) and Irish (my mom's side).

Thank you for sharing Craig. Greetings to you. I have always wanted to visit Canada. I have a couple high school classmates that live in Canada. I am not sure which part. I know Oui of french and parlez vous francais? I hope I spelled those correctly and not intending to offend anyone.

Perfect spelling (aside from the accent on the c in Français, but that's likely not available on your keyboard.)
:)

Thank you. I would say it in french but I have since forgotten. I don't have that on my keyboard, (I think).

Hello Marquette,
This is fun! I too have wondered this very thing. Where is everyone? I am born and raised in the USA. I grew up mostly in Pennsylvania but was born in NM. As an adult, my wife and I have lived in Pa, Calif, Del, the peninsula of Va, and as of 2 days ago are now living in sunny Florida! I really only speak English but can understand Spanish to a small degree. I love Pa dutch cooking and mild Mexican food.

Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Even with the world wide web I am amazed at the world of people connecting and being and being able to communicate with understanding. Thank you. I was hoping it would be fun for more than just me. Wow, you have moved around. Do you like to move and experience the different places or because of necessity. I can understand very minimal Spanish like Si and siesta. I enjoy Mexican food. More of Tex-Mex. Thank you for sharing.

We move around mostly for family. My parents divorced when I was a toddler and each to opposing coasts. I meet my wife in high school while I was living with my dad in Calif.

I am sorry. I wasn't trying to pry but thank you for sharing.

Oh, you weren't prying. This thing called life is a big adventure and everyone's story is different and interesting.

Thank you. Our stories are very interesting and it is interesting to see how many of the same situations but different circumstances hinders or motivate people in life.

I live in Bella Vista, Arkansas, USA. This is in the heart of the Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas. English is my native language and the only one I speak. I love reading, surfing the web, creating blogsites, art (painting both traditional and digital). I am in a wheelchair due to low back disc issues. I am a "Faster" (I do intermittent fasting for health and weightloss).

Hi Shirley,
I have visited Arkansas many times. It borders Oklahoma. I know that you know this I am just sharing in case anyone reads this. I fast for spiritual reasons. The Ozarks are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Marquette
I am from Cape Town South Africa, on the Cape Peninsula, so I can swim in the Indian and Atlantic oceans in one day.
English is my 1st Language, Afrikaans my second, both I speak fluently, NO, Lions and Wild game do not roam our streets LOL!!! a common perception, but not true.
I have Table Mountain practically on my doorstep, and the night life in and around our city is vibrant, so when you come to Cape Town and become bored, you are in the wrong company,

Gary

Haha, great Gary, and I do not walk on wooden shoes

Hi Gary,
Wow, If you had not told me I would have thought you had traveled and taken a wonderful vacation or two to visit both oceans. I don't think like that anymore of wild animals walking around in the neighborhoods. Thank you for sharing.

@ Loes; The cartoons when I was young did give us that perception. Where did that come from?

Always good to meet a fellow South African here.

Hou die blink kant bo.

Johan.

Actually, Jay and Kyle have had some Cougars wandering around their neighborhood.

A century ago, a lot of dutch ran on wooden shoes

Lekker

Two legged or four legged cougars?

Wow! Thank you for sharing. Beautiful picture.

I am originally from the farthest point north in the state of Virginia. I grew up in West Virginia just across the state line. My wife and I moved to Charlotte NC in 1998 and now we are looking to move to the eastern part of the great state of Kentucky to start up a cow-calf operation for retirement fun. English is the only language I know.

Hi Owen,
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed NC when I visited there. English is my only language. I tried to learn french. I have only a few basic words in my vocabulary. Your retirement fun sounds like a lot of work.
